The slow cadence, hypnotic in its appeal

She touches each person without using her hands

Like a chameleon or actress upon the stage

It changes from that of a confident woman

To the adventuresome grin of a teenager

To the unabashed glee of a little girl

Chestnut eyes provide more than splendor

Protected by a fortress of high cheekbones

She guards this fragile passageway

For her eyes are the portals to her soul

Painful images having imprinted scars upon her heart.
