Unfortunately it takes ages for fights from recent PPV cards to make their way to regular television channels and they're pretty strict about copyright take-downs if people try to post fights later on youtube, for example.

Over the past year or so, I think they've been pretty good about showing a lot of free fight cards on television on FX and Fox with bigger names though. Some of them are pretty decently stacked. I think that helps gain more fans, who then, after being hooked will feel compelled to shell out the $ for PPV, but in the meantime it gives the sport more visibility and nice freebies for fans.

To me, there's nothing 'too slutty' as far as sexual acts, attitudes and roleplay goes (that goes for both men and women). The circumstances surrounding why the pics were sent isn't known (whether they were requested/coerced or proactively sent). Either scenario is possible though. Regardless, you're looking at a lapse in judgement by the girls at best and some level of relationship peer pressure at the worst. Both are common stuff when you're in high school. They're already suffering in spades for their social mistake and don't deserve further blame.

The girls sent pics to a guy, because that's sometimes what girls do. We can call it stupid if we like, and yes, it probably qualifies as such. But they didn't intend on distributing their photos, the recipients are the ones that did that.

People have assumed the girls just randomly decided to take naked pics and send them off but why is everyone assuming the boyfriends weren't trying to convince the girls to send them the naked pics in the first place. That's often the way it goes, to be honest. Guy says "baby, send me pics!" or sends off a dick pic and expects naked pics in return and that starts to get the sexting thing rolling. Maybe the girls were trying to dodge it for a bit but then reluctantly end up giving in and taking pics and sending them, assuming they would be deleted in 10 seconds. Then guys, anticipating naked pics, quickly screen-capture them and pass them around.

I'm not saying that's for sure what happened, but would it change anyone's assumption if the girls were cajoled, pressured or coerced into sending them in the first place?

Good post, Mazza. That's exactly why I haven't set mine to require comments with votes. Often this results in a lower score, but really - the scores on the site are rather generous as a whole, so it's all relative. For example, even though my last story received an EP, I was never on the Top Author List nor did the story manage to hit the Top Stories of the Month list for more than about a day or two during both months. If one is concerned about being on those lists and getting a perfect score then the 'comment-to-vote' option might be the smartest route to take.

For me - I still think it stifles the amount of total votes and reader-friendly environment. All one has to do is look at the comment to vote ratio to get a feel for this. As another example, one of my stories has 251 votes but only 107 comments. That's a significant number of voters that didn't want to comment, yet to date that story has a score of 5.0 - so not all non-commenters are looking to vote something down. They may just not be the type to want to type out comments with everything they read or they may feel like their vote speaks for itself.

I definitely prefer a more 'open' option setting for readers. I hate to force people into doing anything or making people feel obligated to hand out 5's and glowing comments for fear of hurt feelings or reprisal from jilted authors and their friends. That might mean taking a few lumps with your scores now and then, but overall I think there's more positives than negatives.

Re premeditation. It's on record that her defense team tried to plea bargain her down to second-degree murder to avoid trial and Martinez rejected the offer. Plea bargains mean that you're willing to cop to a lesser offense than what you actually did and what you think can reasonably be proven in court. Whether they can prove first degree with the evidence they're allowed to bring into trial is another matter, but let's be real - if her story was legit on any level, you're not going to try to plea bargain up to a worse charge than what you know you're actually guilty of.

If she was my sister, I would quietly support her in her process through the judicial system because she was my blood. That wouldn't change regardless of premeditation or not.

I also don't have a witch hunt mentality with her, I knew nothing of the case until recently and didn't really have a vested interest in either side. To me, looking at the facts, I believe it's first degree (but not death penalty). I started paying attention to the case because it's rare to see a defendant take the stand in a trial like this so that's when I picked it up on youtube when I get a bit of time. I find the art of cross examination fascinating (although not a huge fan of this prosecutor's style). As well, my 'non-erotic writing' deals with themes of female sociopathy and crime so the psychological dynamic of this case is interesting to me for other reasons. But on a human level, it's a tragic story for all parties involved.
