True that does suck but they have been mining your data w/out asking for a while now too. from what I can tell they are simply broadening the type of data they can collect.
I was going back a few years to when hotmail was still a great email service (once they dropped the ball on push email they went down hill) you would be mined for data with questionaires which you could voluntarily skip. And i can believe all types of government agencies keep a track on what you are searching. Heck googles been doing it for years with their most searched auto fill function

Sopa could suck for the internet period. Googles new privacy policy is dubious at best. Although data mining is nothing new, just now they wont ask they will just do.
