Yeah...I've moved to several new cities where I knew nearly no one, and getting involved in things like people have mentioned helps a lot. Volunteering or joining a kickball/dodgeball league (those are great if you're not super athletic) or taking a class. Do what you like to do or just try a lot of different things. It's funny, I had this conversation with a friend years ago - most guys aren't great at making friends, or rather, it takes a long time if you didn't grow up with the guy or go to school with them.
