Topic Forced Commenting for Writing Improvement
Posted 18 Nov 2012 18:45

You've all given me a lot to think about, thank you. I won't be insisting on comments, you've all confirmed what I thought, thank you. I figure if somebody cared enough about it, they would tell me, and I love those of you who do.

You could probably just bribe people to leave comments...you know, by maybe bringing out more Gingas every time you post a story...just a thought...

Topic How sexy is theplayer's chat room?
Posted 18 Nov 2012 00:17

Would it be possible to put on a button which will allow us to turn off the background to a default white background and the black writing? Just in case you enter a room and the background makes your eyes bleed...

Oh, you took the words right out of my mouth...or read my mind...I know that's simple but, yeah...

I second that...all of the above...I've been to the player's chat room, but admit I had a bit of a problem actually following what was going on...not real sexy in my book...

Good Evening Lushketeers...did somebody ask if this place meets health code regulations? Let me ask the experts...
6 6 6

Yeah, I think the other thing that expired in 1924 besides the pigs feet is the health code inspection certificate hanging on the wall...though I guess it don't matter much, the health code inspectors are afraid to walk in this place...

Hey Chef, if you're going to pay Scooter in beer to paint your kitchen, make sure you pay him the beer after the job is done...just sayin'

What we got to drink in this place that's strong and cheap? I'm in a bit of a get totally blitzed and forget about reality sort of mood this weekend...though why this weekend should be any different, I haven't a clue...

Anyway, pass a large mug of Beaver Breath over here...that should be good for a start...

Cheers,
Alan.

Topic Abandoning a story?
Posted 17 Nov 2012 16:45

Sometimes what seem like bad story ideas, really are bad story ideas.

I don't know about that...I'm still thinking my lesbian circus clown group sex story might be salvageable after a few minor tweaks...

Perhaps I'll take Rump's advice and submit it to one of my writing buddies...maybe he wants to read it...dontknow

@ Nicola. I think everyone would do the same and support Lush authors with money Lush gave them.

Jeez...you're just getting money from both sites this month, ain't you?

Congrats btw, and thank that fortune teller while you're at it...

I would appreciate your comments with regards to how you feel when an author forces your hand to comment. Are you less likely to comment/score? Why/why not?

Don't like the idea at all...you sort of put readers in a spot, so to speak...

A ton has been written here in the forum about comments and scoring...scoring on stories that is...heck, it's probably the most popular topic after cock size and pubic hair...you have to realize by now that it's not a perfect system, and never will be...there is no way to make it completely objective, and forcing someone to do something is certainly not going to help...

Topic Abandoning a story?
Posted 17 Nov 2012 11:36

I can't say I've abandoned a story but I have abandoned plenty of ideas for stories.

Now that I can most definitely relate to...but, once I decide to write something up I usually sort of make it work, somehow or other...and you never really know for sure what really works or not until you put it out there...

I've had a couple of things that I had doubts about that ended up being sort of popular...and vice versa...so, you never really know...

And sometimes writers are their own worst critics...

I think I've only completely abandoned one story I started...and that was after writing only one paragraph, though I ended up using some of the lines from that one paragraph in another story...I hate to waste anything I write...

Hurricanes can also be fun, get all your board games out. Families with kids can enjoy some fun times without the distractions of tv, video games, and internet. No kids? Stock up on booze. lol

The board games might be good if you had lights to see them...I like the idea of stocking up on booze though...I didn't do that enough...won't make that mistake next hurricane...

I live in South Amboy, New Jersey and we were without electricity or heat for a week...it just came back on Monday, Nov. 5...it was a bit nuts around here in the NY metro area, with no traffic lights, gas stations with 3 mile gas lines, then rationing...which probably cut the lines down to two miles, people fighting over items at the supermarket, if you could find one open...that sort of thing...

The police actually banned liquor sales in S. Amboy for a week because of fights...you can't buy liquor here until Wednesday...and if you know anything about S. Amboy, that's major news in itself that you can't get a drink here...the town has a large Polish-American population, and is sort of famous for the number of bars...

Anyway, anyone within a couple of blocks of water got pretty wiped out here...I'm about a 15 minute walk to the waterfront down here, but far enough away that I really didn't get affected...

My neighbor and I drove around the area shortly after the storm, and drove several blocks, what streets were not closed off...there was property damage, but not a lot of personal property damage...the sign on top of the bank across from where I live blew off the roof and into the street, for instance...and it's about the size of a small car...there were some down trees, but not many, and none we saw landed on people's houses or cars, so that was a good thing...

I have to say we had a hurricane last year around this time in NJ, and Sandy was much different...there really didn't seem to be much rainfall with Sandy, certainly nothing you could hear, though all you could hear was wind...and I have to say, 90 mph wind gusts are extremely loud ...think jet engine-type loud...very intense stuff...

Oh, and don't try to go outside on the back porch during a hurricane...I remember doing it last year, but the winds with Sandy were so much more intense there was no way it could work...

Fortunately, I was able to get the back door closed again before everything got sucked out of the kitchen...

Have no idea what I was thinking...dontknow

Good Evening my fellow Lushketeer friends...welcome there Poppet to Rumplebations, voted one of the Top Ten Bars in the forum of Lush Stories for two years running...

Anyway, did I hear somebody mention ribs? One of my favorite subjects btw...a large rack would be nice right about now...and I'm not talking about Busty, but she might do as well...

Btw...don't know if anyone noticed, but yesterday marked my three year anniversary with this fine site known throughout the free world as Lush Stories...yes, three years and I have yet to be kicked off or permanently banned...

So, I think that deserves at least a drink on the house...what say you Reverend? At least a tall mug of Beaver Breath should be in order...I'll pay you back when I get my check...in the meantime, just pad somebody's bill to cover it...shouldn't be a problem...

Cheers,
Alan.

3. If you need a more concrete guideline, follow the order Nicola mentione: A. Incest, B. Supernatural, C. BD/SM, D. Reluctance.

Yeah, I'll agree with Reverend Rump...that's a good order...Incest stories always get a lot of views, so try to put all your stories there...always make your main characters brother and sister, and you should have no problem...

Then you could just add the other stuff in the tags, like "lesbian, toys, pirates, circus clowns, space ship, fresh ginger, anal bleaching, whatever"...

It should work out nicely...and if you stop by Rumplebations, make sure you buy the regulars a drink...it's sort of a custom here on Lush...

Just wrote this up quick for another site...the subject prompt was "poetry contests"...

Poetry Contests...

I have entered so many contests,
And I’m starting to wonder why,
Just sitting here thinking about it,
Makes me want to cry.

I always try to do my best,
To make my words compelling,
I make sure not to use text speak,
And I even check my spelling.

But it seems that whatever I do,
My words just get neglected,
And though I start with high hopes,
I always end up feeling rejected.

I wish I knew the judge’s address,
Or at least of their PayPal account,
Then I could at least send them a bribe,
Just tell me the correct amount.

Just once I’d like a great big trophy,
That I could stand up on the floor,
Or even just a paper certificate,
That I could put on the refrigerator door.

Just once I’d like to hold my head,
High above the crowd,
Be able to phone my mom,
And make her really proud.

But, now I enter another contest,
And I’ll probably crash and burn,
I should probably take up another hobby,
But, I guess I’ll never learn.

Wrote a poem today...first in a while actually...

Political Banter...

Once again it’s that time of year,
When political banter seems the rage.
When otherwise normal people,
Try to come off as some worldly sage.

I have friends who are really nice folks,
Any other time of the year.
But, once they start with the political rants,
I really don’t want them near.

Of course, their views are always right,
How could it be any other way?
And you too could be right like them,
If you just listen to what they say.

Some people take it all quite seriously,
And engage in rather spirited exchange.
As if convincing all their Facebook friends,
Will bring about a world of change.

But the more I hear all this political banter,
The more it makes me think.
That the only party I want to join,
Is one where I can get a drink.

I heard a rumor that Lush has something called a Helpdesk now, though why they call it that I haven't a clue...stopped by there earlier...nobody would loan me money, nobody would buy me a drink...heck, I couldn't even get a good tip on the ponies...what's so helpful about the place I haven't a clue...

What I would like is a notification when someone declines a friend request, or if people had enough common courtesy to reply, 'sorry (insert reason or excuse here) I declined your friend request, no hard feelings'

I would really like notification when people thought about sending me a friend request, but didn't...I mean like WTF? What changed their mind, if you know what I mean...like, was it something I said?

When you get a chance Gav, put that one in place...thanks...
