I understand what you're saying but, I think if you posed the question to Nicki she might be able to help you. "Mid teens" perhaps as a phrase? You need to ask her. You just don't want to use cheesy lines as "sweet 16" etc.
As for groping, touching or anything like that before 16, I'd leave it out. But again, ask her. She owns the site and evidently you're getting mixed signals from others.

Hi Chef...Yes, as far as the groping or anything like that, I intend on leaving that out in future stories. One of the issues that led to this whole thread was my attempt to get my story "Young Lust, First Lust. Sweet Devotion" posted on Lush. The story was originally posted on another site that I had started writing for. That site has no age rules. It was the first story I had written after taking a two month break from writing. I had taken pages of notes before writing that story and had done more planning than any story I had previousl done. It is also my most personal story, in fact, it is the only story that I have done that I consider personal. So, after joining Lush and becoming at home here...I have to say I really love Lush and feel it is the best site of it's type...but you know that...I really wanted that story in my profile. Because I had put so much into it and it was so personal, I wanted to change it as little as possible. It took me several tries, I realize I probably tried the moderators patience with me as well...I was just trying to make the absolute minimum of changes, since it is a very personal story that I put so much into.
I will try to avoid any reference to pre-16 anything in the future. I do intend to gear my future writing with Lush in mind, since I do feel at home here and want to keep it that way...I did manage to get over 50 stories posted here so far, and I would like if all my future writings are approved.
As far as WellMade's comment about avoiding mention of specific ages...I generally try to do the same. but I was having problems with that in a recent submission which again, was written for another site with no age rules...
I have come to realize I just have to err on the side of caution as they say...I doubt that I will have any problems in the future..."Young Lust, First Lust. Sweet Devotion" did get approved, and I am sure I will never again touch the subject of my early teenage years...

I have to say that I am absolutely amazed at the animosity and snide comments I have been getting from members who apparently did not take the time to read my original question.
Yes, I understand the concept of characters having to be 16 or older to engage in sex acts, the whole point of this thread is to help myself and other authors understand how sex acts are defined and how the age of the characters can be established as it applies to Lush Stories. As stated previously, I really enjoy Lush, it has become my favorite site, and I want to be able to write without fear of my stories being rejected. As I stated earlier, I post on several sites, and I can tell you that different sites interpret what constitutes underage sex differently. This issue was brought home to me earlier, when my latest poem "Be My Little Whore Tonight" was rejected by another site, the name of which I will not mention. I felt it was understood that "little whore" was just an expression. To them, I was referring to sex with a minor.
Yes, I understand what over 16 means. I am not quite as dumb as I look. The question is how can I establish it without having to resort to lines like "we waited to have sex after her sweet 16 party" or other equally cheesy lines.
I am currently working on a story titled "Love And Haight" It is the sequel to "A Night To Remember" which happened to be very well received here at Lush. Like its predecessor, this story is told from the point of view of an older friend Gary, who is currently 62 years of age. I created him and the screen name 67Goat on another site so I could write stories set in the sixties in the first person point of view. I feel I write best that way. In this story he travels to Haight-Ashbury during the Summer Of Love, along with a friend who wants to go out there to film the goings on. It is roughly based on events relayed to me by an older friend who did go out there to film. Anyway, in the story along the way, they pick up a hitchhiker. She is a teenage runaway. I would have liked to have been able to establish her age without having to have her say something like "I just turned 16" or some other cheesy line which is obviously placed in the story to meet certain rules. I feel like I may have no other choice. I had asked one of the mods if establishing that the character was in high school was sufficient, but was told that high schoolers can be anywhere from 13 to 18. I know when I went to school, it was junior high schoolers who were in the younger teenage years. I have also received conflicting answers regarding such things as "groping" by minors and whether or not it is acceptable. That is why I resorted to posting my questions here.
If you read my latest story when it comes out, you will see I am not promoting underage sex. The events depicted are part of the normal teenage experience.
My story writing hobby has become a significant part of my life in the past several months. I often spend many hours of my life writing a story. I have been known to spend hours trying to get one paragraph right. To have to change something I have put so much into is something I am trying to avoid as an author. I think this can be avoided if what is acceptable were to be defined a bit more clearly. I really did not think that this was too much to ask. Hopefully someone else will actually read what I wrote here and understand.

I Once Met A Girl Online

I once met a girl online,
We talked for a while, she sounded fine,
She sent me pictures, in fact quite a lot,
The pictures looked good, really hot,
Seductive glances with ruby red lips,
Thin waist and fine shapely hips,
This went on for quite a while,
Her conversations would make me smile,
After a while of being discrete,
We decided it was time we should meet,
We figured out when we could both get away,
Agreed on a definite time and a day,
I was excited as I drove to the spot,
Hoping to meet this girl who was hot,
Just the thought of meeting this chick,
Was starting to bring a rise to my dick,
What I saw just couldn't be,
