What you're describing isn't socialism. It's straight on corrupt dictatorship. It really doesn't matter what sort of ideology they say they stick it, it's always the same result; the population gets fucked over while there's a small percentage that gets filthy rich and they do what they can to get more money in their Swiss bankaccounts while the going is still good.

From what I've seen of reports Chavez has pretty much exterminated everything called democracy, thus you immediately stop being a socialist. Socialism is all about giving the power to the government who in turn will use it to improve the standard of living for the people, either it's by government controlling a lot or a bit less, but the key is that single individuals and/or private companies should not be able to dictate the agenda on what's needed. The people is to dictate and voice their opinion to the elected officials. The power is in the people, not the money, and the people will get it's just rewards from this.

That's sort of what socialism is IN THEORY! This is what teachers of political ideology and so forth will tell you when they lecture about socialism. Not the way Chavez runs your country. That is dictatorship. He just calls it socialism because that sounds a whole lot better than dictatorship.

Now whether socialism is ideal or not, is difficult to say. On one side pretty much every political ideology sounds pretty damn good, but the problem is that theory always differ from practice, and especially when it comes to politics.

And because of that, a politician won't ruin his career when he publically says "Israel, you really fucked it up now." Hell, one of the parties that are in the coalition for government have openly said that they support the Palestinians against the Israeli. Imagine Hillary Clinton going out in public and saying that. She'd never get a job in politics again.

In post above, I was wondering if we, as society, could do something to prevent such a crime as murder. Typing this now, realizing how naive that is, however if, lets say, I have dark and depressed neighbor and if I would pay more attention to her, give her more my time, maybe she wouldn't try to commit suicide.. or if in primary and high school educators would be a bit more psychologists as well, maybe they could prevent damage and discover that kid (that is potential aggressor) has physical problems that can be solved..

And I dunno about the statistics, but I'm quite sure that a lot of the murders aren't premeditated. Those you can't do anything about because it just happens there and then, and I think it could happen to a lot of people. And there are so many serial killers where all the neighbours go "He was the last person I'd think would kill and torture 12 people." Appearances can be deceptive and not everyone are shrinks. And some develop symptoms after school, so even if you managed to have teachers that are shrinks then you wouldn't catch everyone. I doubt you'd catch that many. It's a nice thought though, but I think there are things we'd have more luck at preventing

Ok. South America (where I happen to live) has the potential to grow, but corruption and narcos are screwing everything up.

On the other hand, there is Asia, that little by little has been getting a reputation. And let me tell you they are disciplined. They know what they're doing and they're doing it well.

Europe has always had a complicated economy due to political issues. Some countries don't like others. Some for good reasons, others for not too good reasons.

But my guess is that we'll see the rise of the Asian beyond our wildest dreams.They don't like to brag, so they might even have a very nice pandora box in store for us to see.

Asia is starting to get one big problem; luxury. The reason everything says "Made in China" and so forth is because it's cheap labour. But now the standard of living in China in the cities at least is becoming better, thus the prices go up and the need for wages to go up increases as well. This means that the profit of outsourcing to Asian companies are going down, and then they'll start looking at other possibilities. We'll see Africa and South America on the rise. Several African countries have oil and they're working on clearing out the corruption. Once that happens you'll have an industrial boom all over Africa. Companies will build factories and schools to get workers, kids will be educated and so forth.

True, however don't you think that there is a whole a lot wrong with Kosilek and no shrink can resolve his problems. He killed a person for fuck sake, of course that he has issues, I just don't think taxpaying people should care for him and his emotional problems. Not now, not after convincing such a big crime. However I wonder what would it be and how would it end, if society would be sensible for people like Kosiek and what can we do before they reach out and become aggressive towards others or themselves.

To add on the whole "The world as we know will change" comes from a series of predictions they made where the periods are seperated in what I believe is "Khartoums" or something along those lines. I can't remember exactly what timeeras each of these represent, but they are linked with the Mayan calendar. These books contain rather broad prophecies of what will happen in said time period. It will be like saying "Leaders will be hanged", make it valid for 100 years and then say that because of the revolution in a third world country I was right.

Besides, the world as we know it have changed so many times without it causing the end of it. 9/11, fall of the Soviet Union, invention of mobile phones and so many other things. Should the prediction be true for all we know it might be that some smart man figures out a way to completely remove the CO2 releases from cars. That will also change the world as we know it...

There has to be a whole lot of extra information that isn't divulged here. Shrink's testemony and a whole lot of other things. In general having people commit crime to get free medical care is stupid, but I can see the pragmatism in not giving health care to prisoners that are sentenced for life without parole. But if a judge ruled in favour of Kosilek then it's not as black and white as the article says it is. There's more. A shitload of other things that haven't been mentioned. The bad thing is that the comic there is actually right. The whole thing is because of the Mayan numbersystem. Unlike us who have ten different numbers on our keyboard the Mayan would have 20. This means that when they started making the calendar the numbersystem only let them go as far as 21st of December 2012. Should they have continued the calendar it would have started on year 0. And when it's 500 years until you reach the end I bet a decent fuck and a drink is more tempting than starting at scratch.

I think it's because everyone shouldn't HAVE to explain their opinions if they don't want to. There are plenty of alternative places to abandon an unwanted baby. I fuess the whole thing about knowing who your parents are is based on the human right about everyone having the right to an idedentity. Some people don't feel like they belong 100% to the family they're adopted into, even if they call them mom and dad and sisters and brothers. To some you don't belong unless you're blood. Some kids that are adopted here in Norway don't considered themselves Norwegian, they say they're Korean or Chinese or wherever they were born.

It's an emotion, thus you can't rationalise it. I don't blame an adoptive child wanting to know who his/her biological parents are, and I think that's probably something parents that adopt are aware of could happen.

Our lives are too good. Simple as that. Me as a kid have never experienced hunger or lack of clothes or housing. Yes, I have experienced a lack of money to do or buy whatever I want, we were never a rich family, but at least I had food, clothes and a roof over my head. I'm not gonna lie, because if I ever get kids I hope they will have it better and easier growing up than I did. Not that it was a problem filled life or anything, but like most it had it's bumps and potholes, but I think we all want our kids' journey to be as smooth as possible.

All that said, if I get kids I don't want to spoil them and have them walking around like obnoxious little brats that I see around too many places, with parents who doesn't seem to care that the kids are misbehaving. I fear that one day I will grab a kid that's not mine and tell him to behave, because there are parents that are shite and the kids need to be told off.
