Topic IRS admits they deliberately harrassed Conservative groups
Posted 12 May 2013 16:00

Would it be too much to request that the IRS devote 100% of their attentions to the Fortune 1000 corporations who are actively dodging as much taxation as they can by offshoring their head quarters and taking advantage of every loophole they can bribe the Congress to create for their behalf?

You've kinda answered your own question there. They can't go after the fortune 1000 corporations because thanks to the congress creating loopholes they are, legally, not doing anything wrong. Thing is that big companies like that has a problem if they break the law to such a degree that the government comes with a billion dollar tax claim on their arses. So instead, they spend ten million or so on accountants that are good at using the loopholes in existence to get off cheap like that.

First close the loopholes, THEN put the IRS on their arses. I'm sure they'll be more than happy to go after them if they have the law on their side, which they currently, don't.

- From the excert in Nudiepants post it says that 75 out of the 300 were conservative groups. Meaning not all of them were conservatives, actually just a quarter were conservatie groups.
- This was not sanctioned by managers or a policy put in place, it was individuals, meaning for all we know it could be people with their own views making it harder for people they didn't like.

So once again the right wing cries "The IRS are after us!" when it's merely a few out of the many many people working in the IRS that abused their authority. Not everything HAS to be a big government conspiracy, it could just be a few fucktards in the same workplace, but there's paranoia for you.

I haven't heard about that, i know the DoD sent him a cease and desist and he took the liberator blueprints down by Thursday.

Well, surely the US has some kind of restrictions on what kind of weapons can and can't be sold abroad. Otherwise you'll have North Korea buying F-35's...

If I'm not mistaken I read somewhere that by making it available for people outside the US he broke some kind of arms trade act thingamagjing, so basically they took down a site that broke the law. If you ship out a weapon in pieces to one guy, you're still shipping out a weapon since he already have all the parts. Shame they were too late to stop him.

Why wouldn't the IRS flag organizations with the names, "Tea Party," or "Patriot," in their applications for tax exempt status. Both of these are names often used in political organizations, some tax exempt groups are prohibited from participating in politics if they are to maintain their tax exempt status. What were the other groups flagged? Were they political groups as well? There really isn't enough information here to make a case that the IRS was targeting conservative groups. Who were the other 225 groups that weren't conservative? Try to provide more facts.

I agree with this. What about the other 225 that weren't conservative groups? Did they have names like "Obama" or "Democratic" in their applications? Or is this another right wing martyrism? What's worse is how for instance the company that delivered the voting machines had a big "We support Bush" banner on their website, or how several African Americans weren't listed as voters during the 2004 and 2008 elections because they traditionally vote for the Democrats. THAT is a real threat, not just the IRS having an extra good look at a large amount of groups were "inappropriately flagged" and some of them happened to be conservative...

And isn't 75 out of 300 a quarter? 75 x 4 = 300...

Exactly and if I know right, mamber has some kind of a consequences.
Anything eles is power abusing, and threating in his op (in another thread) what will he do if. .shows that he is on the road of abusing his powers.. In a way I do understand why he said and did, what he did, he hes been called names after all.

I'm assuming you're referring to this bit

Be warned... this is my thread and I won't tolerate any name-calling, ad hominem attacks, or other untoward behavior from either side. I'll delete them as fast as I see them,

name-calling and personal attacks are fully valid reasons to delete a post. As far as I see it, he could simply have said "Break the lush rules and I'll delete your post". I'm quite confident that's what he meant, even if it could have been worded a bit more diplomatic, but I don't hold that against him.

As for Highwayman, still don't see it, especially considering that there are periods with downtime(lately today) which could very well explain why there are time gaps between posts if that's what you're referring to.

"As much as I think Nudiepants' political views are completely and utter bonkers, I doubt he's abusing his powers on Lush to delete posts in here that crushes his points in order to make himself look better."

It has been done. By him or not, I am not "in the know." But it has, and those that actually follow a debate, no matter how heated, know it to be so. I've even called others on certain erasures on other threads, but it happens and not just in this neck of the woods.

And you are quite sure that the posts that were deleted did not contain elements that could somehow break the general lush rules? If a post says "We should have no guns due to (insert argument here), you maggy little cunt" that post thouroghly deserves to be deleted simply because of the comment in the end.

Fact that he is deleting opinions he cannot handle, is just so bad for this site. Is this means that here is no credibility anymore?

As much as I think Nudiepants' political views are completely and utter bonkers, I doubt he's abusing his powers on Lush to delete posts in here that crushes his points in order to make himself look better. Not only would it eventually strike back at him should Nicola find out and that he'd also add more fuel to the fire of us having the opposite view of him, he also seems more than intelligent enough to see that that serves no purpose at all. If he has deleted any posts(I haven't read all the posts in here and I don't know which ones have been deleted if any at all) then I'm quite confident that these were posts that would have been deleted by LadyX or any other moderator with the powers to do so.

As many have mentioned, condom could be a factor(if you used one). There's a world of difference between a "normal" condom and one of the thinner types.

Also even just slightly adjusting the angle can do a lot too. Did that and it went from being super really awesome good to super really extra awesome good, and it wasn't by much I(or her, can't really tell) adjusted. So small details can mean a whole lot to the sensation, especially if you wore a condom.

Or it could just be the hooker trick that kyliekained mentioned. You haven't really given us much to go on.

Topic Can "gun people" and "anti-gun people" ever come to the table together and talk
Posted 10 May 2013 14:51

If there is to be a resolve with this issue that the majority can live with, the extremists on both sides simply needs to be ignored. Why? Because the extreme gun lovers won't be happy until they can put a minigun in their backyard and the extreme gun haters won't be happy until there's a global embargo on guns and every single gun, whether it's a hunting rifle or a machine gun, is destroyed.

The moderates needs to come up with a roadmap that all moderates can live with, including the restriction on what kind of weapons are allowed, how severe the background check needs to be and all that follows. If the gun nuts screams "this is ruining our nation" and the gun haters scream "this is not enough, you're sanctioning murders!" then so be it. In the real world there can be no pleasing those sides, same way that you can't please those crying for anarchy and those crying for a totalitarian dictatorship. It's basically the same thing.

Although this one for me really makes his entire bloody argument flawed.

Gun people don’t trust anti-gun people because school shootings have been happening forever, but despite them being on the decline, the media inflates the issue until the perception is that they’re a bigger problem than they really are.

Does he really expect to be taken seriously when he's saying that school shootings is a problem, but it's not really THAT big of a problem. Kids shooting kids at school isn't really that big of a problem, or not as big as media make it out to be?

Kids are being shot dead at school or injured for life, not to mention the trauma of it, and it's not as big of a problem as people make it out to be.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna go make a post about how rape is something people should just get over, because it's "not that big of a problem"....

Two people get married, they realise that they're not a match and tension grows. Usually this leads to divorce, however, if one person has to "do something wrong" for them to actually get a divorce, then you end up with two people that can't stand living together, but they're forced to by the law. Is that really government not mixing itself into personal business?

24 "Gun people don’t trust anti-gun people because" followed by 24 broad-brush statements about 'antigunners'. That piece isn't designed to foment discussion, it's meant to shut down the perceived opposition. It's no way to start people coming together. Have a nice time in your thread.

The irony is almost overwhelming.

I agree. The author of this article shows the same belittling of "anti-gun people", and note that he gives everyone who is for more restrictions on weapons the same label, of being intolerant and not wanting to listen, while in fact this article is not someone who wants to bring on a debate or get someone to the table. I more picture the writer of this article as someone standing with their AR-15 and shouting out "You'll take this from my cold dead hands!" behind his "trespassers will be shot" sign.

For there to even be negotiations is that both sides should put a sock in their own extremes, the NRA nutters that tries to blame everything on video games(strange that the US is the only country with video games that have mass shootings of this extent) and the anti-gun people who goes "You own a gun! YOU'RE A KILLER!" (yes, I kill deer to eat. I also own a fishing rod).

A couple of things I wanna point out though; one was when he linked to the Chicago vs Houston murder rate. Houston has 2/3 of the murder rate as Chicago and they say gun control is the only issue. If you seriously believe that cities on different sides of the country have only one difference from one city being a death valley while the other is not so much, then you're a fucking idiot.

As for the one Sprite mentioned, does that mean that in the US I can go buy some C4 at a store, or maybe a couple of landmines and say it's for my own protection?

But one thing I for the life of me can't seem to understand is this; how can it be that people really believe that a modern America will go under into a tyrannic dictatorship if the 2nd ammendment went poof? The 2nd Ammendment was made for a new nation, not the nation with the most powerful military as well as having the whole god damn NATO with them should it be needed. Besides, who says you need guns to change a nation? How many of the Eastern European countries took up arms against the Soviet Union when they liberated themselves from communist rule? If America really believes that guns is the only way to bring about change, then I weep for America.

Western and more developed countries do celebrate individual achievement a lot more than non-developed countries where social bonds are tighter. In a more tight knit community the groups are more likely to pick up, help and carry what we today call what would in the western world be called "failures". As they don't have a government that's capable of picking up the homeless in the same manner as we do, the "failures" of society does a big portion of the work by either giving food or shelter or helping them in one way or another(unless they have been shunned completely from the village for different reasons).

How many here can say that they've activly helped someone who is unable to work and maybe homeless in one way or another? Doubt it's many, other than the occasional coin in the cup. We don't consider the "failures" our responsibility unless they're really close family, and not even then is it guaranteed that the family will take care of them.

We are indeed more likely to let resourceful people feel like failures, either financially or socially, and especially the latter one, where we stay away from the "awkward" people, they in return isolate themselves more, and before you know it they snap.

But of course, that's not the answer, but just a piece of the puzzle.

Topic Serial Killers and their prevalance.
Posted 04 May 2013 19:49

One reason with the US could very much be because you put the name, picture and personal info of whoever is arrested and later convicted on the front page. Most countries, if any at all, does it to that scale. Here we have a few extraordinary cases where the names of the perps are mentioned. I can only remember two murder trials where this has happened, one was the 22nd of July trial(which in fairness was a terrorist act) and one was a tripple homocide and kinda complex and crap. Anyway, in Norway, murdering several people doesn't necessary give you the "fame" that it does in the US.

Maybe the media should consider restricting themselves and not give out too much info on the perp. "A man/woman aged 43 was arrested for the (insert media created nickname here) killings" is pretty much all you need. Then the person won't be given that much media attention and thus won't be named publically.

But I'm just guessing here and I could be wrong.

If the government does repeal a constitutional amendment then maybe it is worth a bloody revolution. That's how our country came about in the first place. Can you imagine doing away with the amendments that abolish slavery (13th) or give women the right to vote (19th)? Doing that would also deserve a bloody revolution and I'd be ready to die in that cause. I also believe with all of my heart that the second amendment is worth fighting for. Liberty is well worth dying for. Is it better to die for freedom & liberty or live like a slave under the yoke of tyranny? I'd rather die in a losing cause for freedom and liberty.

I do not mind background checks. For every gun I've purchased they have run a background check on me. That is a lot of background checks and I know I will pass. Convicted felons and people with serious mental disorders should not have guns. Anyone that is in the USA illegally should not be able to purchase or possess a gun. That are just common sense. I don't even mind having to sign a form if buying large amounts of nitrogen based fertilizer or if I were to purchase dynamite. However, I do not currently need those products as I only own about 3/4 acre of property.

As far as I know the removal of the 2nd ammendment would in any case be done by an elected congress voted by the American people. The base of a representative democracy is that the elected officials are voted in by the people, and thus the representatives in both houses represent the will of the people. Majority rules. Should the 2nd ammendment be removed then it is the will of the people, because no one will vote for a person that wants to change the constitution in a manner they oppose, regardless.

If you want to take up arms against the congress because the majority of the people made a choice you like, then you are at best a rebel, at worst a terrorist, and unless there are such overwhelming proof of electoral fraud that there can be no doubt that this is all rigged, then you are not fighting for democracy, you're against it.

That particular gun has a shorter length of pull and it is much easier for them to shoot accurately. All of my kids and grand kids learn gun safety and how to shoot. That way if someone shows them a gun they know how dangerous it is and to leave it alone and get a adult asap! It also teaches them patience and self control as well as concentration. They do not have access to them and should not but they do respect them. This is our second amendment right to protect us from a tyrannical government and should never be messed with in anyway. I do not or agree with all of the laws of these great UNITED STATES but thats what makes it the best country in the world. If the guns bother people that much they should move to a country that bans them!

So you firmly believe that if there were restrictions on what kind of weapons you could buy, then the US would, just because now the people can't arm themselves as they want, would rapidly or slowly turn into a totalitarian dictatorship?
