I'll admit to being completely fascinated by the idea. It's always exciting to see new thoughts emerge from any industry. But in this case, the term 'porn industry' and the money-making connotations attached to it seems a bit off. They're breaking bank and I highly doubt they'd be able to cash in on the 3.4million USD investment - hence the need for donations. Right now, I think financing this project is their biggest hurdle, not how the money shot will pan out in zero gravity, etc etc. If it doesn't work out, well, at least Pornhub would've gotten some publicity (not that they need it...) I really hope they make it though. This is exciting stuff! x

Oy. Sending people into space to bang? Sounds extraordinarily expensive and time consuming. Astronaut training IIRC is extremely long and difficult. I mean, Gravity and 2001 managed to make do without actually going into space. What's wrong with that sort of thing?

It really doesn't. You would have to actually tie yourself to your partner and then to a sold surface. An episode of The Universe actually made a fully clothed simulation on the famous NASA 0g test aircraft and it was comically impossible.
