Should Erotica concentrate more on the story or the action?

I could not help but feel the original question might be interpreted to Porn versus Love Story. A short story without character buildup to capture the imagination of the reader remains a limited interest "quickie". This is acceptable for a five minute read, but fails to remain interesting enough to continue reading.
I would recommend to write a real story; one can still titillate a reader without going immediately into hard sex. Adding a characters sensual thoughts can help the story build, adding contextual motivation, and will do so without making them seem like a porn star.

But that is just my opinion...

In my opinion it should focus on both but the story is just as important as the action. The character build up should be there so you feel connected to the feelings and can get a good mental image of the person. By the time the action comes you should be rooting for it to happen and be excited over it. The stories that cut right to the action don't really hold my attention but that's just me

I agree. There needs to be a build up so you can sympathise and put yourself in the situation. Then, when the action gets going it needs to be really good! Just action stories aren't as exciting, but those that ramble on and on before anything good happens are boring!
The greatest thing you'll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return.

The story is important. I like reading good stories with sex scenes. I'm not that interested in reading sex scenes without a good story.

There are only so many ways to describe a big cock entering a wet pussy/ tight asshole/ willing mouth. For me, the turn on is the setting of the scene and the dialogue between characters. The build up of sexual tension and desire is often more exciting than the sex that transpires.

I agree with this completely. I get so many messages saying the story was great but we want, more action and I really don't know what more there is to say in describing two people fucking. I try to concentrate on the story, character development, and how the characters feel because I can think of only so many ways to say he stuck his big hard dick in her wet slippery pussy.

My answer, exactly
"If you knew what you were doing you would probably be bored."

I most often find the "why" more interesting than the "how". Why is the people feeling and acting like they do, how does their action affect them? Graphic descriptions of the act without any understanding of the characters and how they got there, does little to me. But the descriptions coupled with the emotional impact, and believable characters, can make a really good story.
