I've just spotted there is now a "Recommended Stories" section, with a little rosette next to those stories that have been picked out. I'm glad to see some of my favourite writers represented, but could I just ask how stories are selected for this section? I know it says they are selected by the staff, but in what way is it different to the "Editor's Choice"? Thanks! smile

The Recommended Reads are selected by story moderators. These are stories that we deem are of good quality, and have not been awarded an Editors' Pick. We found that there are stories out there that are very good but have not been recognized. Our aim is to recognize authors that have produced a quality story that may or may not have been overlooked by Lush readership.

If we find a gem among these stories and it merits being award the Editors' Pick we will nominate it and it will be voted on. In other words, a Recommended story can eventually become an Editors' Pick, it is simply another way to recognize the talented writers that contribute quality stories to Lush.

I know over on the blue site it's a bribery system...currently, it's $10.00 U.S. for a Recommended Read ribbon, and $25.00 for an Editor Pick...

On storiesspace there are two stories that have both awards.


Both got Editor Picks first. Doesn't make much sense to me.

Hello? Are we back on-line? Those are posts by Dirty Martini and not some really bad dream? Okay, in that case, here's one suggestion.

Let readers nominate a 'Recommended' story. Could be monthly, yearly or whenever the hell Mic's in the mood. To keep it from becoming a popularity free-for-all, mods,admin and other official type riff-raff should probably have the final say on which story is picked. Might be more trouble than it would be worth but it might stir up a little interest and even action.

I thought I saw my name and "bad dream" in the same sentence...must have been that damn auto-correct again...

Yeah, I think Gav has a point...and any story that has 340 Five votes doesn't need a ribbon to get it more attention btw...I'm not sure that member input by voting in addition to what we're already doing is a good idea though...

And I can tell you that not everyone is happy with the few we've picked over on the blue site already...not that everyone on a story site will ever be happy...just sayin'
