i don't remember momma she died when i was born, we lived in a one room shanty but daddy tried to make it a home. by the time i was six years old started singing in the streets, people would throw me pennies to help daddy make ends meet. what a wonderful song.

she was just sixteen and all alone when i came to be but we grew up together my momma child and me now things were bad and she was scared but whenever i would cry she'd calm my fears and dry my tears with a rock and roll lullaby we made it through the lonely days but lord the nights were long and we dreamed of better moments when mama sang her song now i don't recall the words at all it don't make sense to try i just knew lots of love came through in that rock and roll lullaby rock and roll lullaby by bj thomas

we were out on a date in my daddy's car we hadn't traveled very far there in the road straight ahead a car was stalled, the engine was dead i couldn't stop so i swerved to the right i'll never forget the sounds i heard that night the screaming tires, the bursting glass the painful scream i heard last when i woke up the rain was pouring down there were people standing all around something warm running through my eyes but i found my baby somehow that night i lifted her head she looked at me and said hold me darling for a little while i held her close and kissed her our last kiss i found the love i knew i had missed well now she's gone although i hold her tight i lost my love my life that night oh where oh where can my baby be the lord took her away from me she's gone to heaven so i have to be good so i can see my baby when i leave this world last kiss... j frank wilson
