Besides a good slice of toast and a good note on a trombone...
I'll go with Shawshank Redemption.
Toward the "start" of the end, Andy says to Irish Red "Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies."
Red not even know that Andy has just planted in him the seed of hope. He will discover it later "I find I'm so excited I can barely sit or hold a thought in my head. I think it's the excitement only a free man can feel, a free man at the start of a long journey whose conclusion is uncertain. I hope I can make it across the border. I hope I can see my friend and shake his hand. I hope the Pacific is as blue as it is in my dreams. I hope."
Practice what you know, and it will help to make clear what now you do not know. — Rembrandt
There is poetry as soon as we realize that we possess nothing. — John Cage

Shawshank, but that "I miss you Jenny" scene in Forrest Gump is one of the best scenes in movie history... I must have got something in my eyes because they were really watery.

There is nothing wrong with Forrest Gump but it doesn't come anywhere near as kick ass as Shawshank Redemption. It seems everyone is in agreement that Shawshank is better. :D

Ohhh that's a tough call......... Both fantastic Movies and Tom Hanks is a great actor and Stephen King is an exceptionable writer...... But..... I'm going to go with The Shawshank Redemption, I just like prison break movies a bit more I guess.

I’m a big fan of both these movies but by far without a doubt in mind that Shawshank Redemption is the better of the two. Shawshank Redemption is my all time favorite movie. I too am a prison break type movie fan.

Shawshank. Shawshank had a better story but Gump had the Soundtrack.

One question: why compare Shawshank Redemption to Forrest Gump, which is totally off topic? How about Shawshank Redemption vs. Midnight Express ? Now THAT is a comparison worth considering ? Anyone ever seen Midnight Express ? h t t p:// cps-static.rovicorp.com/3/JPG_250/MI0002/226/MI0002226813.jpg h t t p:// w w w.filmaps.com/nposters/n-576493438-300412072235.jpg

Since I loved both films I'll compare their porn spinoffs instead. Sorest Rump vs Shawshank Insertion Gotta go with Sorest Rump. Shawshank Insertion was more of a sword fighting flick which isn't my style.

I ll put on GUMP when I want to veg out and nap. I can recite the movie, so I lie under my covers with my eyes closed and speak the lines of the movie

Both were very good movies but I'd have to weigh in on the side of Stephen King. But not for the Shawshank Redemption but for The Shining. The Shining is my all time favorite movie and nothing comes close to it.
