You can make your own room and then consider that yours. (Just a little tip from me to you.)

making friends in the chat rooms.

it's easy to come in and be overwhelmed when a chat room is super full and there's conversations going on all around you. hell, i spend lots of time in chat and i get that way too, plus, like at parties, you have the people who know each other already and you have this little knot of friends and that little group of people...

when i first joined lush, i kept visiting chat rooms - i did it when there wasn't a lot of people in them, and i just sort of went in and started talking a little, saying hi, making comments, sort of easing myself into conversations until i got to know a few people, i was friendly, and i didn't go in with the intention of cybering, none of this "i'm horny, want to chat's stuff. after a few visits i started to get to know the regulars and eventually started feeling comfortable.

i find that, if you just go in and be yourself and are interesting and look for a conversation that you can add to, like if someone is talking cars, and you know lots about cars and sort of join in, you end up doing fine and pretty soon feel at home. most of the people here are very friendly and if someone is making an effort to be included, they'll welcome them. don't expect a free ride, though - you need to make the effort to get to know people too.

Create & open a Photo sharing room with your rules is a great way for new members to get comfortable in chat.
Lush now allows us to mod our own rooms which can be fun..Thanks LushPour Wine .

I read above about using the pop up box for emotes, I only use that if I forget a code, or use one I don't normally use, otherwise it's much faster to manually type in the code

yah, I agree with you Garza, typing the code is way faster than pressing the symbol.

Here is a big TIP for chat rooms: If you send out a special invitation to someone to join in on a chat room, at least speak and say hello when they drop in. To NOT do that is just RUDE as hell.

It's also a good way to put yourself permanently on someone's SHIT list.

I have written a new poem. It is called 'Long Twisty Woman.'
You can read it at: http://www.lushstories.com/stories/erotic-poems/long-twisty-woman.aspxx
Also, if you wish, check out my co-authored a story with the wonderful DanielleX. It is called 'Focus on Sex.'
You can read it at: http://www.lushstories.com/stories/quickie-sex/focused-on-sex-1.aspx

You can right click the name in the black box and pick "open in new tab" to not go directly to their profile.

This is very helpful information! I suppose I should have come here a long time ago but Im sooo used to hunt & peck.

It would be cool if there was an update on some of the chat functions... I've know that they've been enhanced quite a bit since this thread was created.

I've been seeing some folks who have the ability to go outside of the standard chat ACTIONS and use their own. I was wondering how that is done.

Also wanted to see if there was a list of the chat actions. I used quite a bit already but was rather surprised when I clicked "bend over" thinking I was bending someone over only to find it it was I who was bending over. Not at all what I was expecting LOL

Chat room tips:

#1. Actually chat. Don't just sit there lurking, reading what others type and make no contributions.
#2. Don't just post porn pics. Converse. Porn pics by themselves are not foreplay. People in chat rooms want communication via typed words.
#3. Don't be an asshat troll, i.e. Don't enter and start asking people if they want to go private without chatting with them first.
#4. Don't consider it a meat market where you can enter, type your asl and expect instant private sex chat.
#5. Be polite. Say your greeting to everyone in the room before trying to hit on someone you think is sexy.
#6. Respect other chatters' conversations. Don't interrupt them.
#7. READ PROFILES before trying to chat someone up.
#8. Join in politely with topic discussions.
#9. LEARN AND PRACTICE GOOD NETIQUETTE. (Look it up if you don't know what that means).
#10. Be who you are. Don't pretend to be a lesbian if you are just a horny guy wanting to sex chat women.

Thanks for the instructions :)

Everyone else seem to know how to do this and that?
Does your friend send italic lovepoems over the online messages and you can't do the same back?
Here's your text version guide to all the fun things.
Enjoy!

Applies to all the different chats:

Font:
Bold text: *text*
Italic text: _text_
Strike through: -text- (funny enough I do not know how to do it in the forums.)

Emotes:
To insert an emote icon in an online message use its code. You can find the code for the emote icon when holding your cursor over it in the chat room or in this >>thread<<.

Example:
(ke) = kekekegay

Avay message:
When you change your status to busy in the Chat room there will be an auto reply whispered to anyone who's trying to speak with you.
Most people aren't aware that you can customise this message in your settings.
Online status
You can choose to send it to your online messages here aswell.

The public chat rooms:

Whisper:
@username Your text.

Actions:
You have to have someone's name marked to do this.
<instert your action text here> (do not use any ,.^'!")

Example:
<serenades>

Catnip serenades Nicola

Turning off pictures and whispers:
Go to your privacy settings and scroll down to the bottom.

Post Youtube video:
Copy the URL of the video and post it in the chat room.
(In case the video doesn't work press share--> Options: Check 'Long link' box and copy the url generated in the box above. )

Post a picture:
If the picture is in your Gallery at Lush you put the image description in between [] and hit enter.

[description]

If the picture is elsewhere on the site or another site you go this way:

1. Right click the image you want to post.

2. Pick the option "Copy Image URL"

3. Paste the link into the text box in the chat room.

4 Press enter.
