I've only been involved in two car accidents and they were both caused by men. I still think they're better parallel parkers than women, though!

A friend of mine puts me to shame when it comes to parking. I thought I was fairly competent, however where I'd drive on and find a bigger slot, she stops. She has incredible spatial awareness, and can fit her big company car in the most impossible of slots. I am sure she sometimes uses the assistance of a helicopter to winch her car into position.

I wish I coud do that. I've taken to driving in front end first into parallel spots. If my husband's in the car with me, he slides down in his seat a little bit.

My friends send their kids to me, to teach them how to parallel park - but don't ask me to back down a long driveway. I just can't do it.

Tsk! Tsk! Nic, I am sure you are baiting us guys here. You're soooo bad. Could it be that, statistically (gag!), more men have accidents because, proportionately, there are more male drivers on the road at any given time? Ergo, the odds that a man will be involved in a smash are higher - notwithstanding the testosterone laden lunk heads that we know are out there. Anyway Thanks for the read.

I've never had an accident in my 20 years of driving, neither have I ever gotten a traffic fine. Mind you, that doesn't mean that I've never COMMITED an offense, just never been fined for it (I would chalk that one up to charm and being a woman as well). Anyway in my opinion women aren't really better drivers, we're just more carefull drivers and we pay more attention to detail, as in all other areas of our lives.

Honestly....I really don't think being male or female has anything to do with it. I've seen good and bad on both sides. The one thing that there aren't statistics on is who actually caused the collisions. Many times I have seen someone cause an accident and not even realize they have done anything wrong. Like someone pulls out slowly onto fast moving traffic and a driver gets rear ended by braking to miss the slow driver.

An old Blue will pull out into 70mph traffic and wonder why they got into a wreck. If they live.

You know, the problem of women not being able to park has finally been recognized... New parking spots clearly marked for women drivers are being seen in parking facilities everywhere...about time, I might add... (quickly ducks and leaves)

I can do everything else except for parallel parking. Got a few speeding tickets, and that's about it.

I have only been in one accident and that was when I was rear ended by a woman which almost sent me into the path of a city bus. All the same though I think women generally (except my friend from the previous sentence) are safer drivers as they don't seem to take the same risks as men. Lisa has obviously never seen me try to parallel park, I have to find 2 parking spaces together and go in front end first. In the country I never needed to know so never learnt it. Sure, women are better drivers... Til they need three phone books to see over the wheel and three foot pieces of wood to use the pedals.

Driving IQ is the obvious discriminator separating the good drivers from the bad ones. Throw in a little luck as well..good and bad. We do, however, need more female role models such as Ashley Force, Shirley "Cha Cha" Muldowney, and Danica Patrick. Go Daddy!!

Well the information I was given when my son got car insurance that it would be about 15% higher in cost because he was a male. It would go down at 25 and or when he got married. FYI. That was a few years ago tho.

I think the higher insurance thing for guys is based on the fact that younger guys will drive a lot faster for the thrill of it. Unfortunately my old Jeep won't go fast enough to get much of a thrill. But my brother and I do have a motorcycle that supplies a great adrenaline rush. We constantly fight over whose turn it is to use the bike or the Jeep.
