"The Rose" Bette Midler
Some say love, it is a river that drowns the tender reed Some say love, it is a razor that leaves your soul to bleed Some say love, it is a hunger an endless aching need But I say love, it is a flower and you its only seed
It's the heart afraid of breaking that never learns to dance And the dream afraid of waking that never takes the chance It's the one who won't be taken who cannot seem to give And the soul, afraid of dying that never learns to live
When the night has been too lonely and the road has been too long And you think that love is only for the lucky and the strong Just remember in the winter far beneath the bitter snows Lies the seed that with the sun's love in the spring becomes the rose

"Ooh Child" Five Stairsteps. Listened to that when I lived at home growing up whenever things were not good- for some reason I just got attached to that one song. It helped me to block the bad things out and hold my head up. I sent it to a friend yesterday and it made me cry all over again. Don't know why, its supposed to be an optimistic song.

Johnny Cash You're aware that it's a cover of a Nine Inch Nails song? But agreed, Cash nailed it.
