I don't understand hard alcohol quite honestly. It costs a pretty penny, and you seriously have that big acquired taste. The price can really start to get up there, and people keep buying the stuff, I don't get it.

Yay.

If I'm spending good money on a nice whiskey, I'm not drinking it to get bladdered, I maybe have one or two measures (okay, so they may be pretty large) over ice in an evening. It's pure pleasure and I just love the taste.I look at it in a similar way to buying perhaps a really expensive food item like a good quality caviar. Now, some people spend far more than a pretty penny on this kind of stuff but it's for personal enjoyment and a nice way to treat yourself.

I stay away from alcohol as much as I can... I don't really like the taste, but what I hate most is how I embarrass myself and other if I have too much.

Oh, yes, please. A good single malt Scotch, neat, will do me fine. Failing that, a really well-made gin and tonic, with fresh limes, is quite the treat this time of year.
