Definitely, yes. Defuse that part of the drug-trafficking and gang warfare bomb, tax it if you must, but make a drug that's no more dangerous than alcohol legal, and do it now.

I tend to lean more towards decriminalizing marijuana than actually legalizing it. There is no reason why any person should be labeled a felon and have their entire life ruined forever after an arrest, for having in their possession an organic plant.

And then once sentenced and tagged with that scarlet letter - Class A, B, C, D felon tag...they get shipped to a real state prison in the USA or some other horrid place in another country and get to live around true animals for a spell. 'They' are punished even more severely once they have to be in that situation, than simple confinement from the rest of society.

If ya can't beat 'em... pay someone to do it for you.

It doesn't really matter if its legal or not people are going to smoke it. There's nothing wrong with smoking weed. As WMW is saying it's an organic plant just like all of God's other plants that grow. It's natural and I sure haven't seen it cause any problems like all those other evil chemical drugs. Plus look at how many people its helping when they are using for medicine. I'm sure if Jesus was here he would have smoked it too.

So, For a medicine, it works greatly. Unlike pain killers, it doesn't kill your liver, and whatnot.

For the people that are strongly against it; Has anyone ever 'ODed' over it? Poisoning of any sorts?

As for me, personally, I think it should be legalized, majority for medicinal reasons. Everyone else who smokes it will continue to, it hasn't stoped them xD

Even if it isn't legal, I do believe WellMadeMale, you have a major point.

half a lifetime ago, when I was about the age that some of you are now, I inhaled four humongous bong tokes of what was then being called Skunk. It was grown on an Iowa corn farm, harvested and hung to dry in a hay barn and you could smell a ziplocked bag of the buds from 30 feet away.

I was not prepared for its potency.

Yeah, you could say I OD'd on that. lmao

When I came to, I was at the top of a 140 foot tall communications tower, wondering how the hell I had climbed up there without slipping and falling to a horrible end. Unlike the Jim Stafford song, I was not naked, but I did take a vacation and not even leave the 'farm'.

There was a missing 3 hour chunk of time there.

If ya can't beat 'em... pay someone to do it for you.

Was it your first time smoking? Four huge bong rips of "skunk" is kind of a lot even for bob marley. Surprised you didn't just fall asleep. You sure it wasn't peyote you were smoking?

They say the shit nowadays is even stronger. I guess that's good though cause you don't really need to smoke very much.

I was 26 and a veteran rope smoker at the time. The guy who cultivated it, I had only known a short time and met him a few times. He was a good ole boy from Farm Country. Met him through a mutual friend who knew us both very well.

It wasn't my first rodeo, so-to-speak.

And yeah, I'm sure that most of that which is available today is now twice to six times as potent.

If ya can't beat 'em... pay someone to do it for you.

Good ole boys, blacking out, towers... I think if that would have happened to me I wouldn't smoke either.

Maybe if it were legal or at least decriminalized people would be more educated on the stuff. I know I would never give anyone I don't know really well as a huge stoner that much weed.

I actually think that all drugs, especially pot, should be legalized.

Drugs would be more pure if they were regulated. Also, there would be less crime.

And the government will have more money to spend by:

1. taxing the drugs heavily (like they already do to cigarettes)
2. saving money that they're spending on enforcement and imprisonment

That being said, selling or giving drugs to children should still be a crime.

But Penny Please think about the drug dealers families. You don't want them to go hungry. What about the money launderers and arms dealers? They have families too. Not to mention that the cartels in Mexico have put in a lot of time and money staying 10 steps ahead of the law. If the cartels don't get their money how are they going to payoff the mexican politicians that allow the cartels to continue to import drugs into the USA?

Mexico is drowning and clinging to the USA's leg, stop the flow of money to the cartels and you greatly reduce the corruption which blocks the USA and Mexico from getting rid of the north american cancer that is the cartels.

Make it legal. People will smoke it whether it is legal or not so why not legalize it and then tax the hell out of it.

If you legalize it we just give the government something else to control.d'oh!

Torture the data long enough and they will confess to anything.

They're already controlling it by making it illegal.
