I have had a number of requests for a male voice to read some of the stories in our audio section. To date we only have a single male voice in there, are there any volunteers to record some more?

Think of the fame, think of the women you will be turning on, maybe dont think, just do it!

Where's Mercianknight hiding? Come on, big boy, let's hear your sweet intonations; in standard English, if you please.

Hey! Mr. Nudie! You too! Grab a fig leaf, and step up to the microphone!

And Gav, dear, I'm sure there are a few stories that you yourself could grace with your dulcet tones!

I can only do the readings if I am allowed to impersonate
Sean Connery, Harrison Ford, Jimmy Stewart, Clark Gable,
Pee Wee Herman, Adam Sandler, Sean Penn or Pierce Brosnan.

I can also impersonate Jim Carey impersonating Phil Hartman impersonating Mel Gibson in Lethal Weapon, but that will cost ya.

If ya can't beat 'em... pay someone to do it for you.

Oh man, I was really hoping it would say "...and Pierce Brosnan — all in the same reading!" I'd pay to hear that.

I could do all of them, but only if I was reading a Dirty Martini love poem. One voice per stanza.

Could you do one of mine in the Pee Wee Herman voice? I think I would make a donation for that.

And all the noise from that shower you're in would make hearing the story difficult, too.

I would love to volunteer, however the sound of children in the background is not fitting with the site. As soon as you have children, privacy is a thing you give up.

Now if anyone would like a one-on-one, my rate card is available glasses8

I would gladly do it, but I am Cornish (with a bit of the rest of the country thrown in) - and if ever there was an accent that ISN'T sexy - it's Cornish lol
If, however, we have a contingent of Cornish-loving women who want to hear stories read in their own tongue - then maybe I am an option? ahh, a rare breed indeed lol

I would volunteer as I have been told on several occasions that I have a sexy phone voice, but the sound of my tractor trailer droning in the background would put the listener to sleep instead of getting them roused up!!!

You know, I'd gladly do some recording and I've been told I have a sexy voice... but the thing is I think there's already too much of the same voices over and over in the audio stories section.

No offense to whomever the woman is who does most of the reading of the stories I've heard, but as something of an audiophile when it comes to female voices, I'd like to hear a VARIETY of sexy female voices, not the same one over and over again.... And I know there are lots more audiophiles out there with an appreciation for a VARIETY of sexy voices of both genders.

Look, I mean, the effort is appreciated... but the same voice just gets... boring. I'm sorry to say.

And the thing is, I think the ladies would get bored too, hearing MY voice, or ANY one guy's voice, over and over again. Even if it is a nice, sexy voice (they'd have to be the judges of that)... Not only that, but I think the readers themselves get bored with it. Again, I hate to be critical and hurt anyone's feelings, but the readings of some of these stories has seemed pretty rote, the style pretty monotone - especially at first. I'd hate to reach the point were I was bored with reading the stories....

Plus, you know, my voice is a mature man's voice. I sounded a lot different in my 20's than I do now. There are some vocal parts that my voice just doesn't fit... Take, for example the woman reading the majority of the stories I've heard. Again, I really don't mean to hurt her feelings, but being realistic and honest, her voice is a mature voice. A sexy mature voice, but a mature one all the same. So when she reads the part of a much younger gal in first person, well, it just breaks the spell. And if I'm supposed to be reading the story of some college boy, well, that might not work out quite right for the listener...

Now, one more gripe... Why aren't more AUTHORS recording their OWN stories? I mean, at first I often clicked on a story from a new author I haven't heard before excited to see what she sounds like, only to be disappointed to hear that same old voice AGAIN. Now, I don't get my hopes up... In the case of an author reading their own stories I don't care if their voice doesn't fit the protagonist's part... It's just cool to hear the author read their own story.... The site needs much more of that.

That's my 2 cents....

I'm a wild and Krrraaazzzy Guy!

I don't know, you've asked a lot of questions, made some comments and critiques, but what comes to mind for me is, do you, or would you, speak and enunciate in italics, caps, and bold face? Or wish that someone else would have that kind of staccato delivery, with emphasis on items that are not necessarily in need of heavy handed "look at me!" attention grabbing ploys?

Personally, I really like the delivery of the Lush story reader. Her delivery is excellent, her pacing is spot on, and I'm not distracted by background noise, heavy breathing on her part, mic feedback and a lot of other things that can be out of place. For me it's the equivalent of good punctuation and writing. The delivery does not get in the way of the text, and adds a lot to it.

Why aren't more authors recording their own stories, you ask? I suspect that the answer is because our authors are also doing a lot of other things in their personal lives, and not all of them have either the means or desire to record their voice. Trust me, many of them are dealing with huge amounts of anxiety just over submitting the story, hoping it will be verified, and then waiting anxiously for positive feedback. I can only say bravo to those that have added an additional element to that by doing an audio version as well, and that personally I think our audio lady is brilliant.

That, of course, is just my opinion, and along with 2 euros, you can get a cup of coffee.

Btw, Gav...I plan on doing a few audios again, if for no other reason than I don't want to hear WellMade's Pee Wee Herman imitation on one one of my love poems...
The first one I'm going to do is "Neon Sign" for StorySpace, since it is nice and cheery and perfect for the holidays...
After that I plan on doing three stories..."Flight Lessons"..."Mistaken Identity" and "Sexual Healing"...
I'll probably do a few poems as well, but not sure which...

Just have to download Audacity onto my new net book and figure out the name of that add-on you need to convert the files to MP3's...

Give me a couple of weeks on this...
Let me go back to writing my Christmas story for now...

Fugs pointed this request out to me...

Sounds interesting actually. I'm pretty good at this kinda thing actually. I could be convinced, but I guess id need to know how to trial it or what ever the process may be.

FYI - my voice i guess is well educated English, mid to deep in tone.

TC,

Sounds like a great thing. I vote yes and yes!
Since the people are busy with the site updates at the moment they might have to get back to you later on.
I have a suggestion that you could record something and put it on youtube or something and post the sample in here for us all to hear.
