I know many of you agree with their right to protest. And I know they have that right. But I really wish someone would bitch slap this lady. What a horrible and hateful human being. The next generation of haters are on the way. When the debate is lost, slander becomes the tool of the loser. Socrates

See what religion gets you? I can see those people coming to a bad end. Her mouth is going to get her and her family killed. Ah well, what will be, will be.

Thank you for posting this lafayettemister. Watching the women and girls in this video reminded me of old film of the Manson family women. Fred Phelps has the same kind of hold on the people of his congregation that Manson had over his followers, and they seem just as brainwashed and morally deficient. There is an evil at the core of Phelp's theology that can be heard in the rantings of Charles Manson as well. Like any people so sure of their own righteousness, the members of Wesboro Baptist Church are not open to suggestions that they might be wrong. There is no way to change them because they are closed to all arguments but their own. They are a small group though, and so far all their protesting has done is to draw attention to their own hatred and intolerance.
Freedom of speech and assembly is important. Being able to freely protest the government is part of the soul of America. We need to be careful about denying it to anyone. The ravings of lunatics has less effect on a free society than attempts to silence them.
It could be that they're trying to provoke someone to an act of violence. I'm not a disciple of non-violence myself. I have never believed that the successes in the civil rights movement were all due to non-violent protest. Non-violence has always been very one sided. The people who had fought change for decades didn't mind using violence to keep the status quo. However, violence breeds violence. It should only be used when all else has failed, when peaceful change is impossible. The people of the Westboro Baptist Church should be scorned, ridiculed and ignored. Mostly ignored.

You said they're a small group. Not if the woman speaking has anything to say about it. She has 11 kids. WOW! Although I agree with you SB it hurts people to the core what these so called "christians" are doing. I can understand how it could insight them to violence. I also have a feeling if the violent ones were caught a taken into a court of law, they'd only get a slap on the wrist. Not that everyone is tolerant or forgiving of gay lifestyles or even happy about wars but, when you call the country that allows them the freedom to protest and assemble and the dead soldiers and marines derogatory names it hits people in the heart.

I had to stop after the FAGS EAT POOP portion of this stupidity. Such glee, and remorseless passion (shit even Hannity and Colmes agree) are "soul less." And yet, many will be reminded of the morality, and beauty of religion. This just reminds me and other heathens what it truly means to be a "true Christian."

Westboro Baptist Church = Phony Christians (they do not follow Jesus Christ teachings at all) "Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. Not everyone that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? And in thy name have cast out devils? And in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I NEVER KNEW YOU: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.” (Matt 7:15-23) If anyone is going to hell it is Westboro Baptist Church.

I have lived within 100 kilometers of these attention whoring kooks for the last 20 years and have known of their presence in the community and their attempts to gain notoriety by provoking every organization, opposing belief system, politician ... basically everyone who is not a member of their cultish clan of batshit crazy fucktards. Whatever religion it is which they espouse is only being used as a tax shelter. Almost everyone in their, ummm...church, is a relative of the patriarch. Either direct kin or married in-law. Add to this the fact that almost all of them are attorneys who specialize in certain fields of litigation, they live to provoke and desire to instigate, hoping that someone wealthy will do something to one or some of them, so that they can then $ue some asses out of property or money. StandingBear is correct. The best thing we can do, is not give them the time of day attention which is all that they seek. Like a spoiled child whining incessantly in a crowded theater, all they do is ruin your life experiences if you allow that to happen. But if you violate their group's civil rights...and petition to do so...then you are in fact, voting to have your own (and mine) violated too. Fuck a bunch of that noise.
The best thing you can do for your fellow, next to rousing his conscience, is - not to give him things to think about, but to wake things up that are in him... to make him think things for himself - George MacDonald

and i thought the Jehovah's witnesses annoyed the crap out of me. they seem.... ugh i don;t even now what analogy to use here. i am so angry right now that a group of people could be so fucking bigoted. their website address is godhatesfags.com and they have a slideshow of their protests with signs like "you hate your kids" referring to gay and lesbian parents. I have worked hard in my school to stop the bullying of gays and lesbians in high school and now we have these attention seeking ass holes making the front page and poisoning our youth with their ass hole ideas. we as adults may be able to brush it off with some "what a bitch" remark but children may be watching the news and see them and be like ooooooh yeah that makes sense. and that is what really pisses me off. that there are kids like the ones in the video i have below who put a lot of effort into creating a video and it only gets 1,000 views but when ass holes like these westboro folk come on they get all the press and like over 1,000,000 views i can;t believe people!!!
sorry if my post makes no sense i am fuming here at my keyboard This is a video i stumbled across. it looks like a group of high school GSA (gay straight alliance) members got together and shot a clean version of the fckh8 video (which thankfully is very popular) it made me so happy to see this (and then i saw the westboro thing and that made me angry) i wish i had thought of something like this when i was a high schooler trying to raise awareness. it is so awesome i highly recommend you watch it

eviotis wrote:I had to stop after the FAGS EAT POOP portion of this stupidity. That's funny, because that's about when I stopped as well...there is most obviously no reason, fact or logic in any of her arguments, the group is a bunch of "attention whores" as Jeff so eloquently stated, and the fact that I actually watched a few minutes of their hateful rhetoric is giving them far more of my time and attention than they deserve... Like someone else stated, as hard as it may be the best thing we can do is really to ignore these short bus riding fucktards and perhaps they'll get the hint and crawl off and die... And again, as Jeff stated, "religion" is a word used here simply to avoid taxes...heck, pretty much anyone can call themselves a preacher and start a church...all you need is a few members of your "congregation" and you too can start preaching in the name of the Lord for tax-free donations... Which reminds me...hmmm, I think Reverend Al of the Church of Latter Day Martinism needs to go off and write up some commandments... I'll be back with the address of where to send the tax exempt donations...Bless you my friends...

I would say that I hate the people of Westboro Baptist Church, but that would put me on the same level as them. I don't hate them, but I do pity the children of these hate mongers.

I am from kansas and these idiots are always around picketing, this is their deal. They try to enrage people enough to cross the line so they can sue them. That is the way they keep their bullshit message going. They stand for nothing but greed and ignorance. Funny that I posted this in the rage forum not two weeks ago lol. FUCK THEM!

So went on a bit of a Louis Theroux binge today. Not only did I watch all 8 parts on you tube, but also when he went back a few years later after some members left the church. I am speechless. They are just a buncf nut jobs.
I also watched when he went and stayed with White supremacists and had a similar reaction to the westboro family. When watching this stuff it's hard to remember that they are such tiny minorities.
On a side note medicated kids and porn star episodes were quite interesting as well.

They are a fringe hate group and a cult and they just happen to thrive on all of the attention they get. It would be best if they were totally ignored by everyone and especially the media.

Like all Fundamentalists, the thing that strikes me most profoundly and most sadly about these people is their absolute joylessness and their sense of superiority over others. How TERRIBLE it must be to have such entrenched attitudes. As I confirmed Atheist, I fully acknowledge the wonderful work done by many churches AND the decent values that Islam, Christianity, Judeaism etc often uphold, and you know, maybe I'm wrong! Perhaps there IS a God! (I simply don't see any evidence of it throughout human lives and history....) But, I guess I MIGHT be wrong......
So do your own thing, believe what you need to believe but DON'T impose your belief system upon others. I've visited Muslim countries and when I'm there, I dress modestly and respect their traditions. That's manners.
But these people are mentally ill..... If there is ONE TENET in Christianity than surely that is Forgiveness????? But I guess these people have edited that one out of the philosophy..... as they have 'Love Thy Neighbour'....
A bunch of sad, pathetic, ignorant creeps who preach hatred and poison.... If their God really existed, he'd smite 'em for sure!!!!

What westboro calls a church and uses as a "religion" is not true religion. They are all hypocritical assanine... I can't find the right words to describe the horrendous nature of what these people say. One of their ideals, and I have researched this, is that God hates the whole world... What they don't realize is, that would mean that God hates them as well. How ever logic has no meaning for them. Many would argue the same for a true Christian such as myself but that's not the topic here. We are talking about the issue of freedom of speech for them. As a member of the military I can't describe the fury that runs thru my veins everytime I hear about them. At the same time though the things that people have done to interrupt their protests is almost worth letting them have their idiotic protests. Just keep an eye in the news for that stuff it's actually extremely amusing. All I can say is that eventually one way or another they will be repaid in full for what they do.

........ How can people live with level of hate in bodies ..... The amount of anger this rose me to made me sick...... psychically sick.... I want to cry....
I thought Christianity is about love and peace, not hate and war, If I may bring up a point about a religion they demonized since they Dark Ages, (bare with me I have point to relates to the topic)
"Witchcraft" has been around longer than Christianity and during the Dark Ages, all who opposed the Christian movement were murdered it was genocide, not just for witches but ALL who opposed it or even if you lived near someone who did. "The Devil" comes from the time of the crusades they saw a statue of the Pagan Horned God, (Who looked a little scary) and immediately all the "Witches" were dubbed "Devil Worshipers" So thus a bit of ignorance changed the whole game, suddenly there was a evil creature who lurked in the shadows that tempted people to sin and such. (I wont do a long winded explanation of the Horned God
The religion is mostly about doing good for selves and others. Yes there are those who do curses and summon evil spirits but like everything else in this world there is good and evil. They discourage doing curses for the 3 fold law rule whatever you cast returns to you 3 fold, they dub spells as rituals and when it comes down to it the rituals and prayers aren't all that different but the rituals require effort of the "witch's" part. I believe the core assets are the same general, Peace, love, and prayer. Basicly they accept all, judge none, (not saying there are none like that in Witchcraft but the people I know are very opened minded and at ease with the world) since they had to be in the shadows forever they adopted a "free practice" rule they dont try to convert people but teach people about when they are asked, well if you guys want I could explain some more later however this getting longer than I wanted it to.
How is that this message of Demonizing all who counter it, be considered good in anyway like I said how can anyone live with that kind of hate I lived with a small fraction of that and it almost destroyed me. (Ill be honest there was a point relating to the topic in that history lesson but I completely forgot it so dont burn me too bad)
I guess it would be how can anything the church has demonized be evil, when THIS is righteous!!! (that wasnt quite it but its the closest I got)
Anyways "

Westboro Baptist Church sure is not Christian. As it is well known they are all related, possibly inbred, a family of lawyers that make a living suing people. Other than their small group they have no friends and are ostracized from their surrounding community. In order to have a country with freedom and liberty, sick hate filled people like them have to the freedom to speak openly. Of course we are all free to tune them out, ignore them and ostracize them.
