I voted for love story, but only because they exemplify the best in character development and emotional display. I agree with Alan, in regards to the choice of categories. My first time was a love story, as I suppose many are. But, I would point out that I don't choose stories to read based on category. I am guilty of scanning the opening lines and see if I like the flow of words, not the amount of sex. I have read stories that fall into most of the categories but I am also prone to follow the authors. I don't follow incest stories, yet I have read several good ones, amidst more not so good ones. We all know incest is the most popular, and as much as we hate to admit it; the most popular pay the bills.

Of the choices available, I said Love stories, because they generally have more character development and emotional involvement than any of the others. I like to investigate feelings. BDSM runs a really close second, for the same reason. I am fascinated by the interplay of emotion, respect and open honesty between the Dom(me) and the sub. Being mature myself (I'm 67), I like mature stories, because I often can picture myself in those situations. The same thing applies to some of the crossdressing stories.
I strongly dislike parent/child incest, and interracial stories. The first, because the thought of having sex with either of my parents is a total turn-off; and the second because I see no reason why skin color should have any importance whatsoever, and I find myself angered by the thought that it matters. In general, I do not read supernatural stories, because they require too much willing suspension of disbelief.

I've actually got bored of the incest category, not just reading but writing it too, there's only so much you can do with it. At the moment, I'm enjoying BDSM, MILF and lesbian categories, though I do like a good love story to be behind it.

Tough choice for me. I find the forbidden nature of incest to be exciting (as well as bringing back memories of my randy youth) Love stories won out though for the character development and tenderness. the best incest stories are love stories as well.

I am not a good subject for this poll as I must admit I like all the categories. My preferences run to stories that are in the 2,000 to 3,000 word area with some strong character development and a discernable story line. I find that some stories are quite good even without those two elements because they are written with a degree of emotional involvement that shows in the flow of the story.

I do especially like the Taboo ones mostly because of the forbidden thing. Me and my wife really enjoy watching the classic Taboo films from the 80s made by Kay Parker. I really do like the mother/daughter stuff.
Other than that it's usually straight stuff and mostly about mature.
