I have bought some clothes for the other half, but personally if he is comfortable in what he is wearing then why should I dictate.
To the OP your wife is a nazi lol.
Axl - Take a look at our piercing menu.
Daria - I don't think that's how you spell "uvula."
Axl - That's not "uvula."

My wife told me after we got married that her first impression of me was that I was hot but dressed poorly (torn jeans, t-shirts, old work boots etc) and that she felt my wardrobe could be easily "improved"... so she decided it was worth pursuing me. Now she wears torn jeans, t-shirts, etc frequently.

I would suggest certain clothing, but not force the person to wear what they do not want to wear. Me, I love a man/woman in Levis especially if they are unbuttoned halfway to show enough to tease. Plus the way the fit the person makes a big difference. Now, if the person is a suit and tie man/woman cool... I might help them find what looks good on them but not demand they wear certain clothes or colors. This goes for men and women. Me, I love a woman in nothing but a sundress. ;) right ladies? Sundresses can be soooo very sexy!

My fiance is a graphics illustrator/designer/artist and is great with picking out colors for designs, printing, etc. but when it comes to his own clothes, its as if his brain just shuts down. I'll point out how blah something looks or the fact that two colors don't match and he is always surprised. He'll then get something else to wear and ask if I like it. I really don't think he cares what he wears. His personal clothing style is to not care. Most of the time I do not say anything to him about it unless it just looks awful. I doubt I can change that about him and he's great the way he is. At least he is meticulous when it comes to grooming, slightly obsessive compulsive. I have no problem with that.

If I were looking for a wife or girlfriend, that is what I'd want to have, not a mother hen. I would welcome her opinion on the clothes I wear, and at least consider her suggestions, but would not tolerate her dictation as to what I was going to wear, though I can't imagine a woman being that bossy.

A really intelligent woman doesn't come across bossy. If they are bossy they will not succeed, we'll just say no and be damned stubborn about it. But damnit, they sure do come up with other ways to manipulate us and they are damned good at it. You might find yourself in the middle of a party wearing a pink Izod. Yes a pink Izod!!! And the ladies get all their buddies involved, they'll all be touching you, rubbing their hand on you chest and telling you how good you look in that pink shirt. And all women are in on it , because everyone in the room will do that and have your ego all stoked until one of your own friends, a guy you can trust, comes up and says, "What the fuck are you wearing pink for dude?" Then you realize you have been worked. But don't sweat it guys, because we can work the women pretty damn good too. Just sometimes you have to wear a pink damn Izod in order to get what you want down the road. And if all else fails drink some scotch or a lot of scotch.

At least she's not asking you to be matching! Yao dictates the majority of the couple’s paired wardrobe, which includes T-shirts and shoes. “I listen to her,” says Zhang. “She is my queen.”

When will us men band together and overcome this strangle-hold pussy has on our lives! This is a gross abuse of power by these women. I'm disgusted.

If you think they'll try and change your wardrobe style just wait and see what they do to the decor of the house or apartment. I am ashamed to admit that I know the meaning of the word "decor." But I have had two wives. I never found out what my first wife did with my collection of National Lampoon posters. I miss those posters.

I think that if a guy has a terrible sense of style but a great personality there's no harm in helping him update & refresh his wardrobe. You dont have to change him, just bring out his personality to reflect his clothes. I wouldn't go as far as completely changing a person, maybe a few tips and pointers until he's confident enough to wear a certain look. I think women are more emotionally attached to clothes so they tend to pick out certain clothes for their partner because it evokes certain memories. I know Ive been guility and I also like buying tshirts because I absolutely adore guy tshirts and just love guys wearing tshirts & great jeans. NO CARGO PANTS THOUGH!!
I think there's plenty of women out there that are happy with the way their guy looks and will decorate a house together - not dictate know it should be done. Women (& men) that want to change every thing are controlling, anal & image conscious and if you're with them you must either be a pretty placid guy or you're quite yielding. Either way stop complaining about being pussy whipped - cos its obvious that you guys enjoy or why else would you stay.

My wife does not like my cargo pants too much, but I wear them — a lot! She likes me to wear blue jeans an she buys ridiculously expensive brands for me. I prefer cheap cargo pants.

Haha, if anything, its the other way around for me. I get my fashion advice from my boyfriend.
And as for the "KEN-DOLL" thing, I rather have him NOT to work out and become absolutely fit with perfect abs and biceps etc.. and look too attractive.
Why? Call me selfish but him looking more and more attractive attracts more threats (other prettier girls); as much as I trust him, there is always the possibility of him choosing someone smaller, exotic and much more beautiful than I am.
So no, I say if he puts on weight, I smile and cuddle his tummy <3.

I really don't mess with anyone's clothes but my own; I seriously don't see the need unless they get the 'pants-halfway-down-the-ass' syndrome and then I guess I step in with EMERGENCY INTERVENTION.

I would never change a lad's style. He is who he is, and I would want him to be as comfortable as possible. If he wants to look smart or casual, fine. That's his style and how he chooses to express himself. The only thing I would have issue with is if he wasn't clean.
I will not stop wearing knee-length stripy socks, sparkly shoes, black t-shirts and floaty skirts anywhere and everywhere I go (and hoodies when it's cold). I refuse to go to balls and cocktail parties and crap like that because I won't be dictated to. Accept me as I am - as I accept you.

Women like a sharp-dressed man (isn't there a song about this? ZZTop or someone). Sad to say, I see an awful lot of men who need a woman to dress them right or face an arrest by the fashion police. Every time I go out in a sport coat and tie or suit, suddenly the women get complimentary and all touchy-feely. If you can throw in a little fashion "style" as well, a classy tie, a pocket handkerchief, vest and pocket watch, something that says "I have my own personality" - you'll be amazed at the responses. Don't dress like a douchbag or a hipster though unless that's your umm "target audience".
So, yeah, some guys need help in the fashion world and if they have a woman with good taste in clothes and the generosity to buy you a wardrobe, go for it.

Maybe I just have crap taste in clothes.

I think you and wife are sweet. You'll find a happy ground to stand on. Never give-up the old comfy jeans though : ) I personally don't dress men.

My boyfriend would certainly dress better if I picked out his clothes. He doesn't want my help though. I can't understand why. Is that a guy thing? He picks out panties for me sometime. He's not really helping the textile industry out though. There's hardly any material used in the ones he picks.

I have to get the missus to pick clothes for me, because if she didnt every night out would involve me in a football top and a pair of jeans.

Maybe I just have crap taste in clothes. I must admit, I love a man in a suit. If he's 6' or over and good looking, I go weak at the knees.
