I have no idea why I am curious about this, but I am.
I have read stories about guys adjusting their cocks up when it's getting hard while they are dressed... towards their belly button.

It all depends on the situation -- the adjust up technique is great for occasions where a buldge in your pants would not be adequate. If you put it to the side, sometimes the tension of your jeans doesn´t really help in calming the beast down. This is if you need it to go down, otherwise just let it be... Like I said, it all depends on the situation.

Wrap it around my thigh and tie a knot in it to keep it in place. But do not tie that knot too tight in case I need to whip it out and slap someone upside the head with it. Other times I just wrap it around my leg and tuck the head in my sock. Or let it poke out the back and pretend it's a tail.

I'll be much more realistic. I just let it go where it wants to go. Usually down to the left or the right, never up, gravity always wins...The only time it even starts in the up position is if I have a hard on while I pull up my pants. Then let nature take its course..

I leave it as is unless it starts to get really hard, at which point the pain isn't really worth it (if my clothing is heavy enough to keep it down in the first place that is).

Depends on where I am and what I'm doing. If sitting it gets shifted to a leg. If standing it gets shifted up. Up makes walking easier but does present sitting problems.
