I just picked this off yahoo news and thought it needed to be here for further discussion: http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/ticket/rick-santorum-wants-ban-hardcore-pornography-222833811.htmlNow I generally am very "protective" of the rights of others...even those I disagree with as long as personal attacks/comments are left out of the discussion....and I kinda/sorta feel that way here except for the concept of someone else telling me what I can/can't do in the privacy of my own home. Now...I'm gonna get POLITICAL here....IMHO the Republicans bring up these kind of issues because they do NOT have solutions for the real problems we as a society in general face...ie...jobs, energy, health care, elderly care, EDUCATION, economy (that alone is HUGE!!), etc., etc. Think about it...GOD, GUNS, GAYS, and now PORN are hot button issues raised to divert attention and cause real gridlock in congress. They are truly after the money Now that said...I cheerfully voted FOR our president, but because of some things that he's done/said/didn't say/didn't do, etc. my next vote will be AGAINST the Republicans as a vote of "lesser of evils". I'm sure I'll think of something else to say after this is posted!! Rick http://www.lushstories.com/stories/love-stories/exit-33-trust.aspx

"America is suffering a pandemic of harm from pornography," -- Saint Torum.
I stopped there. What a great fluff stance to take. Pandemic? Really? I didn't know porn was an infectious disease? Watch out, don't go into the "Sexy Pics" part of the forum guys, you might catch something.
And yes, you are correct, politicians are very predictable and dufus is pandering to his pipeline.

Can someone enlighten me? The religious fanatics who push this line are convinced that the sight of a female ankle will turn impressionable male youngsters of thirty years old into sex maniacs. God or Jehovah or Allah or some other invisible friend-in-the-sky has told them this, so it must be true.

Some things are worth losing sleep over, Santorum is not amongst those things, imo.
The best thing you can do for your fellow, next to rousing his conscience, is - not to give him things to think about, but to wake things up that are in him... to make him think things for himself - George MacDonald

Rick Santorum is an idiot. He would be worse than Bush or Obama. I don't think he will get the Republican nomination. It will be Mitt Romney who is much more palatable, much more moderate. Hopefully Santorum's radical views coming public will soon destroy his political ambition's. Santorum probably has a secret poster up of Hitler & Mussolini somewhere.

No one should be listening to someone who identifies himself as a frothy mixture of lube and fecal matter that is sometimes the by product of anal sex... http://spreadingsantorum.com/Seriously, its so ironic you cant even make it up! Overwhelming RealityFrom Across the Room

If its up to nitwits, they will figure a way to explain to their fellow nitwits that any form of sexuality, including the written word or a plunge neck like can be considered pornographic.

If Mr. Frothy Lube (e.g. Santorum) was to read Lush with the proverbial stick he has permanently stuck up his rear he would probably find a way to label it hard core pornography. However, he is so far out there in his American Taliban bubble, that he is quite unlikely to actually get nominated. If the Republicans do nominate him we can have a good laugh at the general idiocy of the Republican primary voters... Writer of amateur erotica since 2011.. For an example see http://www.lushstories.com/stories/reluctance/the-alpha-male-part-i.aspx

Charlotte, I couldn't agree with you more.....the only thing that bothers me about any of them is that they "just might" get elected. We...the citizens...tend to have short memories when it comes to the obstructionists activities/procedures the Republican congressional folk have used. IMHO...it was/is not a question of something necessarily being WRONG...its more a question of stopping anything the Democrats have proposed...AND having no alternative ideas to present. I WELCOME debate that deals with issues, but leave the &*^&%^ partisan politics at the door Rick http://www.lushstories.com/stories/love-stories/exit-33-trust.aspx

apparently, santorum thinks porn is an imminent threat to national security. Success is doing what you love, and doing it so well that someone will pay you for it.http://www.lushstories.com/fantasyfiction

It is. Didn't you know pornography is a gateway to violence? Just like pot. Take it all away, we need coca-cola and the 700 Club to keep us safe.

Hard core porn is in the eye of the beholder. Even one of our (USA) Supreme Court Justices had a hard time defining it. He said he knew it when he saw it. That was the best he could do.
My take on this subject is some what different. I have seen many things that we as human beings do in the privacy of our own bedrooms labeled port. I sincerely doubt any of it is porn. You want to see real porn? Let's view a movie with killing, maiming and evisceration, things we (normal folks anyway) do not do in our own home: That is the REAL porn....
The fact that there are self righteous people telling me that one is OK and the other isn't is also porn. I, really, can't support that type of thinking.

I don't give a shit about the 700 Club but don't go knocking Coca-Cola!!!! It goes great with Jack Daniels and I am from Atlanta (Coca-Cola money helps a lot of us pay for the bills, pornography & sex toys.)

If reading porn makes people go out and commit sex crimes, why are detective novels allowed? Or is banning those that the next step?

I'm going to take the same stance here that I take on games. It's a persons choice if they want to subject themselves to whatever they want, it's called freedom of speech. And personally so long as they don't turn around and harm people because of it then it's okay, but the chance of that is very low in the first place so I don't see why people keep getting their panties in a twist over it. And to be quite frank, if someone who is like him gets into power then I can see America turning into the futuristic London from V for Vendetta. Well possibly if he stays in for long enough. Isn't there enough real problems to worry about? Unemployment, the budget deficit, the trade deficit, health care & insurance, immigration law reform, education, and more. This guy Santorum wants to legislate what people do in their private lives, take away freedom and force his own minority moral views on everyone else? Somebody tell Santorum that we already defeated the Nazis in 1945 so he doesn't need to try and resurrect their policies for his own.
My first story for Lush is posted, The Goodbye Fuck.http://www.lushstories.com/stories/straight-sex/the-goodbye-fuck.aspx

If Coca Cola helps pay for anyone's porn and toys, then I guess it all bad. Forgetting about mixing with Jack, was truly a loss in a man card. (face palm) I retract my statement, substitute it with Pepsi.

What was hardcore pornography would be decided by the government, I suppose, rather than the reader or consumer. This is just another example of politicians thinking that they know what is best for all of us. I'm pretty sure that they wouldn't ask the opinion of Lush members before they started banning porn. Sooner or later they'll get around to the written word too, then political speech.

A lot of people in Georgia are buying porn with money earned from Coca-Cola or because of them. Nobody asks for a rum and Pepsi either. Nobody sane anyway.
