Oh God no - I don't find intelligence intimidating at all. As I've got older, the more I realise I don't know, and the more I want to learn. I love to be challenged and taught by an intelligent brain - sexy as hell. If he's got a massive wanger - bonus !!!

I only want an intelligent woman. No intellect no fun. We all have different experiences, interests as well as opinions. One can seek to learn and explore or not. Personally I like to have my horizons broadened as I expect to be richer for it. Quote:Nothing in the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity. Martin Luther King, Jr. One has to be careful as well not to be too quick to judge a book by its cover as well. No...I find it quite sexy. Especially when it comes with a quick wit. Lots of people confuse knowledge with intelligence or wisdom. Intelligence is NOT spewing random facts. It's holding a conversation interspersed with relevant facts. Intelligence is both sexy and intriguing to me. And you'd be surprised at how hard that is to come by. Knowledge is knowing a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom/intelligence is knowing NOT to put it in your fruit salad.

Intelligence should never be intimidating..but SWW is correct, too. It's the combining of experience, knowledge, and practical application..the connecting the dots, so to speak, that make for real intelligence, not simply "book-learning" or "facts by rote". I find a functioning mind one of the sexiest attributes a woman or man can possess.

Intelligence is everything, in youth it is creative and erotic, adding insights and dimension, as we age it grounds us to the present, and in old age it gives us perspective!

I find the idea of being with a woman who is smarter than me to be very attractive. I'm always looking to learn new things, and what better way is there than to pick a brilliant woman's brains?

Maybe there is something evolutionary about the desire to reproduce with a woman smarter than I am. Fortunately, it's not hard to find that! Intelligence is a definite turn-on, so long as she's not arrogant about it.

An awful lot of people have ignored the fullness of the question asked. The question is about whether you would be intimidated when you feel she is more intelligent than you. Imagine all the stimulation conversations that a brilliant conversationalist could have with a caveman [/sarcasm] and then imagine a woman who is significantly smarter than you and think about your answer then.

Actually, the question was answered. He asked if intelligence was intimidating. Most of the men here have stated that they would love being with a woman smarter than themselves. If this were intimidating, they wouldn't desire it.

Many of the answers did not address the "smarter than themselves" aspect and only stated that intelligence was desired.

I love a good stimulating conversation about many things. Who doesn't love a good debate? I know I do. I love to be challenged and made to think. I have never been able to pull off the "giggling" or the empty headed bobble head type of woman. I know I have much to learn and have a great thirst for knowledge. Knowledge is power and that power can help me become a better human being.

Intelligence can be knowledge and experience, but I'm not sure it also always includes the ability to think. We all have knowledges that make us seem intelligent in one or several areas, but thinking means you can put these bits together and extrapolate something new or different from them. One of the sexier things that can be said in verbal foreplay is "I never thought of it that way."

I don't think it's intrinsically intimidating, no. Anybody who thinks it is probably has a self-esteem issue regarding their own intelligence, and may well not be ready for relationship. My girlfriend and I are pretty evenly matched, and we do have a lot of overlap, but we also have radically different areas of expertise. I think the fact that she's capable and intelligent is extremely attractive. Sometimes she says something that blows me away with her intelligence, or plays something beautiful on her guitar and that makes me want to throw her down on the bed, couch, floor, counter, table, etc. as much as anything else.
Sometimes the fact that she's known a little more professional success in her field than I have is a tiny bit intimidating, but I also know that she loves me, and that the fact that I haven't had much of my work published or produced is a failing of mine and not hers, because I haven't tried too hard to get it published or produced, just because I'm a bit of a perfectionist. She's shaking that off me a bit, and I can see that as her using her knowledge and experience to help me grow my own.
So, the gist is, attractive. If I ramble, I apologize. I'm verbose because I want to be helpful.

More intelligent? Measured in what way? Intelligence can manifest itself in many ways. Are we talking mathematical skills or an understanding of philosophy? Do you mean memory recall or artistic expression? Some might mistake education for intelligence or fail to see the difference between intelligence and wisdom. To me it it far to fluid a point to concede that one person is more intelligent, rather that their intelligence is expressed in different ways. For a woman to truly be attractive to me her intelligence must interact with mine in a harmonious way that stimulates conversation and instills confidence that we will be able understand each others emotional and spiritual needs. “It is a great thing to know your vices.” ― Marcus Tullius Cicero

Not at all. A woman who can walk and chew gum at the same time and who knows her ass from her elbow (at the very least) is a pre-requisite, in fact.

Dancing_Doll wrote:However you qualify intelligence, whether it's by IQ, social intelligence, writing/communication ability or book smarts, would a woman that is more intelligent than you be seen as intimidating or attractive. Think of the popular female images of Jessica Simpson acting like the dumb blonde, or Marilyn Monroe's sexualized little girl act, or all the giggly, pillow-fighting, "omg, I'm just a girl" hair-twirling ideal of the Playboy empire and the porn industry (in general). Does intelligence scare or intimidate men? Try to answer this question honestly, because I think it's easy to say "I like a smart woman," but the reality is that society often shows that we are at our most attractive when we're being cute, giggly, helpless, and girly. Is it just a part of the caveman ideal of being the "protector and provider" or is there a feeling that a very intelligent woman would be emasculating to a guy in some way? Ladies, feel free to respond if you have any thoughts/opinions on this topic... Good question, DD. From a purely sexual standpoint, it doesn't matter. I've been with a woman judge, a cit council(wo)man and a woman CEO, all of them were smarter'n'me. I am comfortable in my own skin and don't mind a woman who is more intelligent than me I don't find it a turn on or a turn off. I've also been with many women who thought ping pong balls was a Chinese venereal disease. For pure short term, sexual attraction and release, intelligence doesn't matter. ZShe can be hot and smart or hot and stupid - no matter. For LTR, I prefer smart women who share my political persuasion, agnosticism (or atheism) and a bonus would be if they can tolerate an occasional baseball game ) I'm not a superfan. And again, while I could not have an LTR with a woman who I do not respect inttelectually, the intelligence is neither a turn on or a turn off.

No, I love a girl who can handle herself. A nice brain on a nice, good looking girl is worth more to me than an orgy with 12 horny socialite bimbos without enough combined brain power to put in a new light bulb. But, girls, don't expect me to stay dumb for long I learn quick and I know how to put 2 and 2 together very well. ;)
