when i was in junior high i found a book sort of hidden on the shelf in the bathroom.... i think it probably belonged to my mom.... that was the first time i masturbated as well.... the book disappeared soon after it became obvious that someone else was reading it...

When I was younger, found and then also bought the ubiquitous adult magazine.  Stories and forums etc. always worked well with the pics. Since finding Lush there's the added dimension of interaction with others!

I would have to say very early teens. I loved to read and a friend gave be a very adult themed book. Well that was the start. Then as I got older I found penthouse and a few other kinkier stories. And then I found lush and I'm very happy I did. This site has the best of both worlds stories and people interaction.

Jim - I found a medical type book in my mother's bookshelf and came across the chapter on sex. I got hard while reading it and read it again the next day getting even harder. I sneaked it into my room that evening and was lying down on a pillow under my chest and after I got hard while reading it I started rubbing myself on the bed trying to copy the movement I was reading about. Seriously I didn't find that I enjoyed reading them until fairly recently after I started writing some. I started writing them because I was good at writing non-fiction. But could never get a handle on writing dialogue or character development. Wrote my first story to practice those aspects of writing.

I've always been a bit bored by visual porn (once you've seen one of a type you've pretty much seen them all with a few exceptions I've found) so when i found that i got more arousal from reading erotic scene's in some of my books i decided to switch to that.
Also easier to track down the cookies etc that i had to delete to hide it from my up-tight (then) uber Christian mum

Sometime around turning nineteen, porn just stopped doing it for me. Some porn is better than the rest, but it's so poorly thought out. The visual stimulation is nice for being quick if that's the point, but a story has a much longer, more involved, and ultimately more powerful experience to offer. Erotic graphic novels/comics are a nice middle ground, sometimes, but even there the plots are often a little thin. I suppose that there's a lot of bad erotic fiction out there, but it's not too hard to find good stuff in this age.

I heard about them during the time I started watching porn when I masturbated, then I got almost bored with it and started looking for new ways to get wet. then I stumbled across this site where they have not inky stories but forums and chat rooms where you can meet people with similar sexual interests. I love that when you read the stories you don't have to stare at the ugly tattoo or uncircumcised penis that bother me when I watch porn, I can imagine these people and create them to be whoever I want them to.

i first discovered that i liked reading sex stories when I started writing a few of my own in 6th grade hehe. My best friend and I both had guys we liked and wrote our fantasies down and traded them to read. From there I was writing stories a few of my friends actually read (secretly ) and enjoyed. I looked up stories for ideas and inspiration.

My father had an extensive collection of Penthouse and Playboy magazines that I discovered when I was 12. Well actually, I knew that they were there before then, but I "discovered" that they were "there" * at 12. I've been hooked ever since.

For me it was that porn wasn't quite doing it....I needed a little bit of a build up and some plot line and porn is just sex and nothing else. I actually found literotica.com first and loved the stories that I found on there but they don't have any chat rooms or anything and being a widow, I was lonely so I found lush and have a lot of new cyber playmates as well as good stories!

My cousins were excluding me from their activities. Bored out of my mind I discovered a book in my mother's suite case and started reading it. I was obsessed with it. I hid it under my pillow and snuck around until I finished. Then I read it again and packed it in my suitcase to go home. Then it lived hidden in my bedroom for a few years. Misplaced it in a move. :(
The funny thing is I got a little excited reading it, but I never took those sexual feelings to fruition. I also never sought out another naughty romance until much later. Now that I am going to start writing it I am able to write off books as research! Muwaahaha
