don't plan on wasting my money, to be honest. rather see The Perks of Being a Wallflower. At least that fiction is actually billed as being fictional. :) Bitches in the Basement on Amazon by our own Dancing Doll

Have you seen it, Oldrascal?
I haven't. I'm mildly interested, but it's going to have to wait for Netflix.

Yes, I have Xuani, but I'll hold off on my opinion until we get more posts, if you don't mind.

I haven't seen it. I don't feel a need to. I already know that I'll be voting against economic collapse.

I thought you meant 2012 (also a stupid movie) all I need to know about 2016 I got from rotten tomatoes. 30% it's rotten and full of conspiritorial right wing propaganda and little to no facts or substance. I'll pass on reviews like that lol. Your better off. Catching a showing of batman. way better movie, Tom hardy is a great bane.

oldrascal wrote:Who among the members has seen the movie "2016" and what is your opinion of it? Guess what... I'd never heard of it. But then again, I don't live on Huffington Post or The Washington Times websites either. I'll check it out though, since I don't know anything about it - and if Obama is calling it bullshit, then it must mean that I should give it some time to become familiar with it. For fair play, watch Fahrenheit 911 Actually... watch the video I'm getting ready to post in a new thread... One dealing with Collectivism. It's a conspiracy video though. So... it is either what 1Ball has been trying to articulate for the last 5 weeks...and if it is, he's not very articulate (or honest), or it isn't what he's been driving at...but I get it. At least I get what this guy is laying down. 1Ball...I still don't get what he's trying to say. Finally. I get the Collectivism thing. It's what I've felt for the last 20 years and didn't have a name for. The good: I tried to understand what he's been prattling about. The bad: Wrong messenger delivered it to me...it took me an entire month to find someone much more articulate to inform me what I suspected all along. 2016.... Is this a swiftboating of Obama...where they beat on him for all the peripheral shit that really isn't important, while ignoring all the stuff he & the Republicans agree upon? The really important stuff that the Dems & Republicans don't talk about...because they agree on it? The stuff that is fucking us all into the new feudalism...and the one world order view of the Council on Foreign Relations.
The best thing you can do for your fellow, next to rousing his conscience, is - not to give him things to think about, but to wake things up that are in him... to make him think things for himself - George MacDonald

I haven't seen the movie. I will see it eventually because I don't like to talk about anything that I haven't actually checked out for myself. I have read articles by Dinesh D'Souza however. He is very slanted toward neo-conservative views. He was a policy analyst in the Reagan administration, and President of Kings College in New York. His book, The Roots of Obama's Rage, is based on the premise that Obama is fulfilling the dreams of his father, whom Dinesh refers to as a "Luo tribesman of the 1950s—a polygamist who abandoned his wives, drank himself into stupors, and bounced around on two iron legs (after his real legs had to be amputated because of a car crash caused by his drunk driving). This philandering, inebriated African socialist, who raged against the world for denying him the realization of his anti-colonial ambitions, is now setting the nation’s agenda through the reincarnation of his dreams in his son."
If that doesn't show D'Souza's prejudice what do you need? D'Souza thinks being anti-colonist is a short coming and that children should be eternally saddled with the beliefs of their fathers. His entire point of view is based on the title of Obama's book, Dreams From My Father. To make his theory work, he ignores the fact that Obama Sr. was a high ranking government official in Kenya, and the first African student admitted to the University of Hawaii. His description is aimed at showing the senior Obama as a drunken Arfrican tribesman, a man with multiple wives, who's son must be tainted as a result of his genetics.
Maybe President O'Bama is anti-colonial. I am anti-colonial myself. I don't want the USA to establish colonies. We were an anti-colonial country in 1776 and should remain one.
If the movie 2016 is just a rehashed visual display of D'Souza's prejudices and twisted version of facts and events as his writings, I doubt that the movie is anything other than a right wing propaganda tool. It's playing near me now, so I'll let you know what I think of it when I've seen it. Not tonight though, and not tomorrow because tomorrow is UGA football.
