In London, they call soccer "football" and get snotty anytime you refer to the NFL or college football as "football." By embracing London and English people in general, that meant I was embracing their definition of "football."

Maybe the real football gods took it personally. That means I have to renounce London, deny that I ever considered moving there permanently, stop saying things like "one of my biggest regrets is never studying abroad there," and go back to despising British people and making Revolutionary War jokes. Consider it done.

American football has no more foot usage than Rugby and certainly nowhere near the real football (or fútbol).  "American Rugby" would have been a more appropriate name for the game, but be it as it may, it will never be as popular or have as much global following as the authentic football.  The football world cup continues to be the most watched event in the world, by far, and will most likely continue to be so in our lifetimes...!

I had a horrible week 2. But I'm still a game or two up on you. I thought I remembered somewhere in the rules that any week you're below me in total points, you have to show me your tits. So far you and Nikki haven't paid up yet, what's up with that?

You will have to show me where that is written. Or is it one of those unwritten rules, LOL!! Besides you won less than me in week 2. BTW,thats pretty bad!

Maybe if your beloved Saints ever win a game we can talk, HAHA!!

Which one of these theme songs is your fave? Sadly I cannot conduct a poll within an existing thread. (note to Gav)

I prefer the original 1970s ABC Monday Night Football theme. It is the fifth one here... at the 5:40 mark.

Regardless that my Eagles played like they were a high school team .... last night's Baltimore/Patriots game was awesome .... some retarded officiating though (expected with the strike) ... and sadly the Raven's didn't cover the spread. But ... whatta weekend!!

Oh ... and LaFayetteMister .... you are looking like you enjoy being a "bottom" .... *wink*

The original ABC Monday Night Football reminds me of my dad so that is my favorite. I can remember hearing it come on just before bedtime when I was a kid back in the late 70's. I also like the Hank Williams Jr. song. I like how they incorporated the teams that were playing into it and how they would sometimes have surprise guests playing with him. I can specifically remember Steven Tyler and Joe Perry playing once for a Patriots game.

I guess the one I like least is Faith Hill's ripoff of Joan Jett's "I Hate Myself For Loving You". Although Faith does look pretty hot!

That was such a joke tonight!! The game was filled with bad calls but now one of them finally costs a team a win. I do not think the refs really do understand the rules. But ratings are good, the league is making money so that is all they care about. Besides, if they cared about the integrity of the game they wouldnt play games on Thursday nights.

I definitely agree, these Refs do HAVE GOT TO GO!!, it was crazy watching the ending to GB vs SEA game. The Phantom Calls, the No Calls. These refs are jacking the game up. It was funny watching the 2 refs at the end LOOK at each other, and make different calls. WOW!d'oh!

I'm not a Green Bay fan, but tonight's game had the worst call I've ever seen. Those refs are really asking for it.

The entire weekend was full of blown calls! Sunday night's game was almost as bad. Time to work out the issues and get the REAL refs back on the field!

Its time for the owners to go to the league and complain. The players or coaches say anything and they get fined. These replacements are in over their heads. Seems like they dont even know the rules. Green Bay got screwed last night but who knows how many other bad calls that occured earlier in games have cost teams wins. This one was so blatent since it was last play of the game. This is making a joke out if the NFL.

Meh... I as a fan, am receiving an extra 30 to 60 minutes of HDTV face time with my LCD and that translates to more booze being processed. This is a win / win for us NFL fans.

We get to see grown men acting like fools on the field, on the sidelines and especially in the post game interviews.

Belicheat seething is must see TV.
McCarthy apoplectic...Aaron Rogers babbling one word over and over again "Awful" - these are some fond memories we are receiving here, folks.

Rejoice in the cheapskatedness that is... Billionaire Owner Greed on display.

I fucking love it. evil4

The owners are the league, Nikki. Goodell is their boy. They call all the shots.
This is their product, this is the result of their own greed, plain and simple. They are already getting paid large by the TV contracts and they do not wish to share the pie.

This is why labor unions form up, people. Without them...well, you're seeing it live and in your faces in the year 2012.

This is what Romney/Ryan wishes for. Bust the unions, pay subpar wages for subpar performance...
"Who gives a shit? The shareholders (the season ticket holders & $ paying network$) can't do anything about their addiction to our product!"

How many of you are making that connection? evil4

What do you think the NFL Players Association strike last year was all about? bunny

I think the fans could be in control if we all got together and went on strike for a week or two. If there was a drop of, oh say, 25% of TV viewership and attendance at the games, I think the ref issue would be over quickly. Getting that many of us to go 'Cold Turkey' for a week or two would be a tough assignment. Watching on an over the air antenna instead of cable could reduce the numbers some. Have a bunch of friends watch together would be another way. Losing money is the one thing that can break those wealthy, stubborn egos.
