After reading she's idea....

Gav... Any chance of moving "delete a friend" so it's not right below the "send online message". In my drunk state I deleted off a friend since the options are so close and being drunk and using my phone this was not a good combination! I really hated having to beg to be added back crybaby Plus... There was no pop up that said "are you sure you want to delete friend?" It just deleted it...

I know what you are thinking.... Stay off lush while drunk, but how else I gonna keep people posted of my drunken adventures? drunken

A mutual friends 'counter' or 'indicator' when looking at new profiles. IRL, we tend to become friends with people we share mutual friends with. When doing name searches on Facebook, below the name it will say '3 mutual friends' and give you the option of knowing which people are friends with both parties. I occasionally look up names of those I went to high school or college with. If there are 5 'John Doe's' listed and one of them says 11 mutual friends, I can be pretty sure that's the John Doe I'm looking for. Also if a profile says 6 mutual friends, there's a good chance we all share at least a few common interests. Just an idea.

It would be really cool if there was a preview option for when you update your forum sig, same as when you do a proper forum post. It's a pain to go and check if you've done it right.

I get email notifications when someone accepts my friend requests and prompting me to thank them and post something on their wall. perhaps you've disabled the feature in your profile.

What I would like is a notification when someone declines a friend request, or if people had enough common courtesy to reply, 'sorry (insert reason or excuse here) I declined your friend request, no hard feelings' I've yet to decline a request, and I keep a log of requests I send out, deleting the entry when it's accepted making the log essentially a pending or failed request list. I really don't care if you don't want to be my friend, but that's no excuse for a lack of courtesy.

I would really like notification when people thought about sending me a friend request, but didn't...I mean like WTF? What changed their mind, if you know what I mean...like, was it something I said?

When you get a chance Gav, put that one in place...thanks...

Good idea DM.. maybe we can even break them down into specific categories too.. redheaded friends.. friends with big tits.. oral friends.. anal friends.. friends who aren't really friends but liked my avatar.. friends who think tuna flavored douche is a good call.. friends who will.. friends who won't.. and lastly the smallest category of all.. friends who actually keep in touch.. and it would be helpful if Gav could alphabetize them horizontally and arrange them by avatar type vertically in a grid.. just sayin'..

I don't know if this has been opted before but here are just some thoughts I discussed the other day with some friends...

I noticed that some days stories are up longer on the front page then others.
Would it be an idea that the Home Page for Lush can just be modified to show only the heading details of new submitted stories? Show only the comments, vote buttons, the title of the piece, the one-liner below it, the genre, the avatar and member name. Then link it to the actual location where the piece is kept so it can be read. This would allow at least triple or quadruple the number of submissions to be shown on the home page and for a much longer period before they are booted to secondary pages. It would also allow members to track their authors and story genres faster.

Also, is there a way to have Lush do an automatic title search when a member submits a poem or story? I've noticed that there are a lot of pieces with the same name or title and it somehow seems like it takes away from the original posters. The new submitter would then be asked to re-title their piece.

Again just some thoughts,

Gav you know you rock! X

How long a story stays on the front page just depends on the number of submissions behind it and the number of verifiers available at the time to process stories. This creates a lot of variability in the time a story stays up. Perhaps a box with just the last 20 stories to post would be helpfuldontknow

You raise some interesting points. But just because somebody independently wants to call their story or poem the same title as mine shouldn't mean they have to call it something different just because I got there first or vice versa, simply because somebody doesn't want to scroll through a little list of them in a search.

I also like the option of seeing the first few lines of a story. That's where I make my decision of reading it or not, once the title and one-liner have got my brief attention. The option to change what information is shown would be fine, the lesser information showing more stories. I would probably read less if I don't see the first part.

Like Milik says, the amount of time on the home page depends on submission rates and available verifiers.

Well maybe a minimum guaranteed time per story is an idea then.

Perhaps create space on Page number one for 50 to 100 stories to be displayed. I wonder how that might affect smart phone Lushies though? Perhaps it would be individually customizable as to how many stories each of us wanted to have displayed on page 1, whenever we sign on or look there?

This is one of those growing pains. Not a bad one to have!

I think this idea has merit. The biggest exposure a story might get is its time on the home page, its unfair that some would get short changed due to the efficiency of our story mods!

So the way I would do it would be as new stories are verified, they are allocated a display date whereby the last story on the page has been on the home page for at least x hours. My only concern would be we get more stories per day than the allocated display time. Say we let a story have a guaranteed time of 24 hours, thats 25 (25 stories per page) new verified stories per day. Anymore will get queued up for the next day, creating a snow ball of stories.

just a quick question..Are you saying that with all these writers Lush has, sometimes writers will have to wait 2-3 weeks before their story will be submitted? Or this cannot be the case, because moderators don't get more than 30 stories per day?

Maybe I am not completely understanding what you are about to do, so I will break my thoughts down..

25 stories per page for 24hours. That's the plan, right.. If moderators will get more than 25stories per day, it is going to be delay with posting new stories up and consequently people will complain.
If moderators will get less than 25 stories per day, some of the stories will be on home page more than 24 hours and consequently people will complain again because some writers are longer on front page than them.
My question, is why exactly are you changing things making yourself more work, when people will complain either way? Or am I missing something?

@ She: It happends now that stories dissapear from the front page within 6 hrs. While at other days stories are there nearly a day. I am positive that a minimum amount of hours can be found that give the writers a tad more exposure then that without queuing the system.

Anyway Thanks Gav for looking if there are possibilities! x

Given that most stories posted are based on fantasy, I'm curious as to why there are limits as to what we can write. For example, some people are completely turned on by scat yet its not allowed. Personally the idea makes me sick BUT if there was a section for it then obviously I'd just avoid that section and/or the stories. The same goes with graphic violence and such...its just a story, a fantasy and many books are published that are very graphic. Again, if there were sections for these things people could avoid them if they weren't interested as they do any other subject they might not like or agree with.

I appreciate what you are saying.

However, it's the personal choice of the site owner not to allow such stories here.

One of the reason why this site is amazing! :)

Gav, if may I ask, I would love if you can move Report Offensive Post 2 cm up. (it is above story comments on the left side).
I am clumsy, I admit, and few days ago, after reading story and leaving comment I wanted to visit my own page, so instead clicking on my avatar I hit Report Offensive Post. I am being careful ever since, but it would be much nicer if I wont need to think about it.
Thank you!3601

I find the report button too prominent too, I sometimes click it thinking it's a reply button, especially after going into various mail programs where their reply button is around the same area.

There aren't all that many messages legitimately reported, so it might be better if it were a smaller link, well away from the text box area.

Gav just fixed that, he moved report button above comment title. Looks neat to me. Did you have in mind something like that?

Can i suggest we add a "couple" option when registering ? i've come across quite a few profiles that are listed as "male" or "female" and in the description go on to explain that they are a couple.
Also, in the search, instead of drop down menus, having check boxes so you could run a broader search.

Audio stories should be made from all the written stories. And those who have good way to telling stories should give voice it in.

You do realize that these are only available if the author themselves records the story. So it probably won't happen.

It would be really cool if we could choose not to see some people on the forum, they can show up as guests or something. The block feature should extend to the forum too.

Define obscene please, Mr. Meese.

Would that be like the prominent display of the toilet bowl in your second profile photograph? Very enticing product placement, incidentally, but some people may find that quite offensive.
