I for one am a romantic, it gets worse when I try not to be! I love fireplaces, soft rugs, sexy music, all that stuff! and don't forget the chocolate! Dark please!

I'm not sure. Admittedly, traditional romance is a "problem area" for me. Stuff like poetry, constant declarations of love, and cliche romantic gestures can often be a turn-off or freak me out. I used to think I wanted a guy that was more like this, until I actually dated one and thought I'd been sucked into a hideous harlequin romance matrix with enough smothering love-fare that it left me clawing through the rose petals and emo-poems to get away from him as fast as possible. I actually take the concept of 'love' very seriously, and I don't use the term or notion loosely. If someone overdoes it early on when it comes to romance or when it seems too soon to be genuine or I'm not feeling it myself, I do run away. At my core, I'm extremely romantic, but you have to chip through a lot of layers of skepticism to get there. To be romantic, you really have to let your emotional guard down, and I don't do that very often.

I like to think of myself as being romantic but I dont think I am in the traditional sense. The big gestures tend to leave me a little....meh. I find them lacking true meaning a lot like Valentines Day. Its easy to trot out a bunch of red roses or a fancy meal at a resturant. It takes no personal thought, its like ticking boxes off a list someone else has written. I find the smaller things can melt my heart. It can be as simple as picking a daisy off a bush as we walk past and giving it to me with a kiss. Or a note left on the fridge that says "I LOVE YOU........ and chocolate" lol I love that note, it still has pride of place on my fridge and it still warms my heart nearly a year later.
