Also the way you came out framing the question is accusatory. If you framed it like this, "Ladies, help me to understand my wife more" or "I am genuinely interested in understanding how a woman thinks", you would have had a much more receptive response.
But your tone of the title presents a narrative that you are the one who is in the right and she is in the wrong.

I am going to be brutally honest here. I am not going to analyze your attitude, but if she is acting like you said, without any reason than there are few options and none of them is pleasant for you. Actually men should want that we have a reason to be bitchy, because if we don't: Brake up is around the corner. If I have moods like your wife does, that means that I cannot stand a sight of my current partner and I am leaving him. But, not all women are me, so she might stay because of the lifestyle, children, personal reasons/fears... but then you should get used to new not happy her. A tip, communication is a key: giving each other space is a key as well.
