For the attention of LAD
Under your posting there are four words, respect, loyalty, trust and love. It seems to be a little lacking in one of them I'm afraid. (whispers, RESPECT)

Alright, you people seem to know what you're talking about and I'm in the mood to make some life changing decisions (I'm 19, what could I possibly lose besides my sanity?) . Please, tell me how to be less of an asshole and avoid marrying exactly the type of person I despise right now, help me to not be 'pussy-whipped' and 'hen-pecked'.
I'm halfway gone.

If you aren't being sarcastic, then I would suggest that being respectful to and about other people (even the ones you don't like) would be a great start.
If you show respect, you often get respect. When you are given respect, your confidence grows. When you have a healthy, respectful confidence, you won't be taken for a ride, but will be more capable of sharing in a healthy relationship with a respectful partner. That's because you will have learned to recognise one.
That's what I think, in my idealistic little fantasy world, anyway.

Honestly, quit seeing everyone and pre-judging them on what you think you already know. Just like conspiracy theorists, if you're looking for conspiracy, you're going to find it. If you think all women are bitches, then they'll all always be that to you. Wipe the slate clean and venture out into the world with a new attitude. You're not going to get everyone woman you see to fall in love or want to go out for drinks with you. Find the ones that are right for you and you're right for them. Chill out and let it happen naturally. When the debate is lost, slander becomes the tool of the loser. Socrates

This poor 19 yo has two possible futures, One he dies alone, a bitter old man or exactly the way Lafayettemister envisioned and wishes he could die. He might want to consider not dating women until he learns more about women. Hint - right now he doesn't have a clue!

Sometimes being single is better and other times being in a relationship can make someone happy too. Most everybody varies on their opinion from time to time, but a healthy relationship is a good relationship.

i have watched the little wanker take over this thread... and i read what everyone says.... but to go back to the original thought... it is easier to give up and whine about it than to be open to a real relationship... be his friend... call him on it.....

No, we did not identify anything. Honestly, I have no response to this. Its a joke, right?? Actually, I'll just say this, I feel sorry for your mother..Your father must be a piece of work..

Maybe his mum is a bitch?
(Sorry, I couldn't resist it).
I don't know why people have to be one thing or the other. I have friends who hate being alone, and have to have a partner no matter what, even at the expense of their family and social life. Likewise, I know a few who prefer not to have any sort of commitment at all, just having random sex when they can get it.
I have fears about what guys are like based on the few experiences I have (not very pleasant, for the most part), but it wouldn't swear me off all of them for life. The hope that they aren't all liars and abusers some how manages to cling on, no matter how much it might make me bitter or afraid. And if it did swear me off them all, that would be my fault, not theirs.

Who thinks like that? Is it just me or is this a terribly disturbing statement? He sounds like a future rapist or a present one. As to the OP there is not enough of a portrait of your friend to give clear advice, maybe he needs time off from relationships to decide what sort of relationship he wants. Relationships are never easy, they take time and a give and take attitude to work. But giving up is asking for a lonely existence.

lizzygurrl wrote:Hi, I have a 36 year old male colleague who has been single for over 8 years now. He's had a few relationships that ended on a sour note and now he has given up, saying that relationships are too complicated because to a large extent they are based on emotion which can be fickle and irrational. Apparently he's always treated his girlfriends really well but they always played "mindgames" on him and didn't tell him what was wrong when clearly there was something bothering them. He now reckons that many women are "too stupid and ungrateful" when it comes to relationships. He's a really good-natured, hardworking and polite guy but has a very no-nonsense attitude to everything and finds it hard to forgive when wronged.
What's your opinion, have you ever come across this type of person before? lol sounds just like someone on here I know, in his 30s,gave up dating for nearly 10years, not gonna mention any names of course cough cough Wooody, lol

Does he complain much would be my first question? If he does, than there you have it. People who complain/whine about pretty much everything, are lazy, not responsible for their actions, just waiting for a hint of a good luck to save them. Well, that's not going to happen if he doesn't sit down and have a talk with himself, what does he actually want, and figure out how to get there. I do believe we have a winner imo gratz. Well done lass. Lizzy, i dont think you provided enough information about this fellow, care to share more? I see a lot of posters just speculating here. Lifeafterdeath, you are correct in some small ways but, good luck to you. Maybe just mate. I hate being late to these parties.
