What makes a big girl, well, big?

There's a post below about 'big girls', and the general concensus so far is big girls are beautiful and ohmnomnom. So far anyway.

But someone recently pointed out to me that 'there's a difference, Han, between being a curvy lady and being built like a truck...' as we discussed a certain person we saw out and about in possibly less than suitable attire for her size, depending on your view.

So what to you counts as big? Weight and clothes sizes please... If you give clothes sizes, say where in the world you are since a size 6 uk is a size 0 us I believe...
When does a girl start being big? When does she start being built like a truck?
When is a girl too big that she stops being attractive to you?

Boilerplate disclaimer: I am not as shallow as the answer below may make me appear. The question posed was solely about physical appearance vis a vis attraction, so that's where my answer focuses.

The first determinant - for my tastes - between a curvy lady and being built like a truck is, well, curves. A voluptuous woman who has big breasts, big hips, yet still appears 'shapely,' has a waistline that's in obvious contrast to her bust and hips, and generally dresses to accentuate her figure is more likely to get an appreciative glance from me than one who looks and dresses as if her body resembled a refrigerator in basic shape. If a woman's figure appears 'proportionate' rather than a clearly large stomach or thighs or arms, she's less likely to get my first glance. The total package of that woman can still draw my interest, just as a stone-cold fox with the personality of catsup is unlikely to keep my attention very long.

I'd be ball-parking any sizes because of differences in height and proportion and such, but I'd say above USA size 14, a woman's starting to cross over to 'built like a truck' territory.

You had me all the way until the last paragraph. I totally agree that curves are sexy. The hourglass figure is desirable no matter the amount of the sand! It's when she is no longer shapely that there is a problem.

BUT THEN, that last paragraph made me laugh. Wow. I haven't been a 14 since high school. I'm only 5'5" and honey, I've got some dangerous curves. I get appreciative glances most everywhere I go and I can still make the hubby drool. Now, to each their own and I know you're only stating your opinion. Maybe a better way to put that is "above USA size 14, she's nearing the upper end of what I'm attracted to." I'm not trying to say you're a meanie for saying that, just that it was kind of a generalization that I've found personally to be untrue.

P.S. just as a stone-cold fox with the personality of catsup is unlikely to keep my attention very long. made me

In my personal opinion, if she can make me smile and can have a good time then size really does not matter, I once met a girl who was to me the sexiest woman on the planet, she was gorgeous
and had a size 0 figure and as soon as she opened her mouth it was over and I lost all interest, she was conceited and new she could twist men who think with there dicks, these type of women are
very dangerous to men, she wasnt the first or last i've met.

I like women who can hold a convo and are funny I really do not care how they dress or what size they are, as long as they can carry themselves and I do not mean in weight terms, usually bigger girls have bigger personalitys and smaller girls are usally trouble so give me a bigger girl any day of the week.

Obviously bed ridden is ridiculous unless of course she had some form of illness after I met her.

The problem is that there's no way to define what makes a girl "big", everyone has a different opinion and decides for their own reasons. You laugh at him saying size 14 makes a big girl, but that's big to him, so nothing else really matters. And let's be real here, it's not crazy for anyone to say that a 14 or bigger is "big". Nobody's saying 'obese' or 'fat'. I'm hard pressed to think of size 16-18 women that don't look big by some definition.

It's not a knock on anyone that size, either, since plenty of people have no issue, or even prefer, big women, despite the media fucking girls in the head by insisting they be skinny. It also doesn't mean they don't have curves, its actually the opposite in most cases. I'm much much smaller than that, and I know if I was bigger I'd have more curves, that's just the way it goes. We are blessed differently depending on our sizes. There is no better or worse until it starts to affect our health at the two extreme ends of big and small.

Hell, I know a guy who wouldn't touch a size over 6 with a ten foot pole. He says anything over that is flabby or chunky or overly muscled, and either way, too "big" for him. I could laugh at that, or judge him for being shallow, but none of us can help what we're attracted to.

EDIT: just saw that WMM's ceiling for 'big' is size 6 too. That makes TWO men I know with this definition. I wonder if that's average for guys, in their opinion.

Everyone has an "ideal threshold" that they should attempt to maintain. Some women are bigger boned, or taller and their ideal weight and clothing size will be very different from a girl that is smaller boned or shorter.

The important thing is to be healthy and try to stay within your ideal range. If you're eating well and exercising and can't get lower than a size 10, then there is no need to shoot for a size 2. Everyone is different. I feel sorry for women that are naturally meant to be a bit fleshier who traumatize themselves via eating disorders and body dysmorphia in order to attain the media standard ideals or the ideals set out by misogynistic men who require them to chase a body size that is not naturally or easily attainable for them. A woman should aim for a healthy body size (individual to her) and then find a man or woman that appreciates this about her.

Whoever is attracted to bigger girls will find them, and those who prefer a thin girl will have their options as well.

I have a friend who likes really big women, and when he points out at one of them I just smile coz I think she has nothing attractive, but he seems so amazed and it's obvious there's something about her he likes, and guess what, he isn't that big either. It's a matter of personal taste.

Dancing Doll, there are a lot of factors not just "misogynistic men" if you look into the fashion world, most men are actually gay! lol. E.G it's what they
"think" men want rather than what men actually want, there is a big diffrence, also for any man or woman that picks up a porn mag, size is irrelivent because the target audience dont actually care about the size, they care about the image, E.G size of breasts, hairy or not hairy, dirty or not dirty, there is no size factor unless of course you are fussy on your porn mags?? lol, you should actually worry about this if this is the case, also most women in the fashion world who are the top of there game, also act like men because they have too to keep up with supply and demand.

The fashion world consists from selling clothes to selling jewellery, to selling almost anything.

I'm not arguing against you, i'm just making you aware that "other factors" are there!

E.g In switzerland "almost" every single woman is beautiful including men they grow of trees, literaly, how does the swiss determine who is more beautiful
for ads or the fashion world for example, so there are way to many factors to take into account.

Sorry, I'm having trouble following what you are saying in this post.

If you are speaking of "gay fashion designers", I understand that fashion shows are about showcasing the clothing, hence the body is meant to basically function as a clothing hanger. Thin is in for fashion models because they approximate this best.

I would never argue that men don't prefer the typical runway model look. They probably prefer more of a playboy body look. I never argued against this perogative, because as we all know "attraction is not a choice" (reference: DamonX, various forum threads, 2010).

I for one, prefer a playboy style body too when I'm looking at playing with a girl. And size IS important in a porn mag. You want to find the model attractive overall, no? Unless there are porn mags that deal specifically with cropped photos of giant breasts and/or hairy/nonhairy pussy where you don't see the rest of the model. Come to think of it, I'm sure there are lots of magazines like that. For me, I prefer to see the whole package. What kind of package people want to see will vary based on personal preferences.

And re the fashion/beauty industry requirements to stay thin.. yeah, I agree.. they aren't doing it for the purpose of attracting men. That is their business and they have to look the part according to whatever their industry demands. My own industry demands me to stay thin, and I meet those standards because that's what is required (and that is actually my preference in terms of how I look as well).

Trust me, I'm the last person to blame certain men for preferring a certain sized woman. I'm just saying that certain women are not meant to look that way, and it's unfortunate when they end up harming their own health trying to fit a certain ideal or image that is very difficult for them to attain. They should, instead, adopt a healthy lifestyle and be in a state that is more natural to their bone structure or size because it's way easier to maintain that in the long term. I've seen an endless array of eating disorders and unhealthy habits within my social circle as well as my industry. I find this unfortunate, because I wish woman would feel more empowered to not fight the state that is most natural for their bodies, which often isn't a size 2.

I'm sorry I don't understand the switzerland beauty reference. Hoping you can clarify etc.

Dark's right. It's the size of their heart that matters the most.

Once anyone answers this question with specific measurements, someone's going to feel insulted.

Maybe it's just me giving a personal opinion as a man?? there is a difference between women "choosing" or having a disorder?? If men buy into the playboy image or simply look on the internet for their fetish then these men are also being mislead into a world that does not exist, being fit or model like for your industry and wanting that look is your perogotive and a must for your industry, I for one do not buy into the fashion world because im not a materialistic person, but if people are so shallow as to want the perfect everything, then what is the point in living?? you may as well pack up and throw yourself of a cliff because this world does not exist no matter how much people want it, today you want the perfect body and tomorrow you want the perfect house and the perfect kids etc, etc, this world is draconian and box like which makes me personally feel nostaligic.

In short if you buy into this world of I must have I must look like, I want because my tv/internet/cd/dvd told me then this is a sad day for the human race, because they are not using there brain, they are being controlled and on one hand says this could be you like the lottery pointing a finger at you, but people are not prepared to work for it, they just want and dont know why??

Look at this way, go to the beach and look for a perfect round pebble without a flaw in it.....you will spend your whole life looking because it doesnt exist.

Actually... I think we are arguing the same point. The world of perfection is a fucked up beautiful place that often has no basis in reality. People should find their own definition of what makes them happy and follow it. There is no right or wrong there. It's all up to personal choice. I totally share your vision there.

But I also don't think one world should not be judged as materialistic/bad because it involves thin/fit people. There are some unachievable standards put forward by the fashion industry, but if someone wants to stay fit/thin based on a healthy lifestyle, and wants a certain lifestyle because that's their vision of what makes them happy, then they should have the right to want/desire it and go after it. It's not that one is worse than the other. It's how one goes about obtaining it.

For me, I'm not prescribed to a materialistic vision. My profession is a physical one that has specific demands that are practical/functional, not just about looks. Someone who is an athlete will have a different set of criteria required than someone who works in a typical office etc.

It's a diverse kind of world with a different kind of vision for everyone.

I think that men are genetically hard-wired to prefer a certain look in women, from the dawn of time. The swell of breasts, narrowing of waist, and swell of hip signal a mature, healthy woman, of childbearing age, able to bear offspring with a minimum amount of difficulty in labor. And thus is his DNA passed on, to live to fight another day. For me, I prefer that she be proportionate. I prefer that she be active, healthy, fit. I've dated women from 98 pounds up to 160 pounds, from size 0 to size "Whoa!" And any of them that I broke things off with first, their size wasn't a factor. Attitude was, and habits, and just generally not getting along any more. But... as I've said before - it's not the size of the bewbies, but what lay a few inches further in that makes a woman attractive or not.

BMI percentage would be the technical definition of what is too big.

I prefer a fit woman but as stated on an earlier post that is my personal preference in terms of what I find attractive.
