These days it's just a dot saying "donor" in the middle of your driver's license here in Cali, but there used to be a card that went with it. I checked every box and wrote "Take what you like, I'm done with it!" in the space provided.

Definitely. Since some people think that I should go to hell then why not donate my body for the future good of humans as a sign that God isn't actually as nice as he's made out to be.

Organ dontation all the way....I have no idea what medical science would want with my body, but hey, if they want it they can have it, as long as there is no munting involved (blurg).
I'm not sure if any Aussies have posted on this yet but I feel the need to tell everyone that over here ticking the box on your licence isn't enough, your family can contest it - the sneaky bastards. What you actually have to do is sign up to the national donorship org and make your preference known then there can be absolutely no confusion. Bureaucracy is so annoying at times.
Anywho, all I know is that there is no way in hell I'm going into a box after my body has become a live stage version of 'REPO!'.

I'm an organ donor because what's the point of not leaving your organs to someone who can use them when you can't?

Once I am dead I most definitely want any healthy usable organs to be donated to some person who needs them. I don't want my body rotting in a wood or steel box anyhow. Cremate the rest. I wouldn't mind a double than life size statue in my memory, but if it is a naked statue please exaggerate my penis size for posterity sake!!!

Organ donation absolutely! Hey Buz, what if that statue is an abstract? Just a funny thought.

I took my daughters to see the bodies exhibit when it was in columbus. The older(then 8) thought it was the best thing she had ever seen, she read every scrap of note attached to any body part. (she has wanted to become a Dr since she was 3 lol. still aiming that way & is in jr high) the younger(then7) hated it. she spent the whole trip with her head under my coat-she wants to be an engineer. Personally I loved it, & not just the extra credit i got for my ticket! My grandparents donated their bodies to the medical school. I dont know nor care how the students treated the bodies, but the school was great with my family. It definatly convinced me that I want to donate mine as well. As for students with a poor sense of humor: it is a stressful and demanding profession, as such Im okay with a little humor at my expense. It wont be the first time ive been the butt of a joke(pun intended). Besides if some student that uses my body to learn from graduates and saves even one person it was worth it.
Who would have guessed that my little tale, the very First one I ever submitted to Lush would be read by so many? It shocks me a little to realize that it has now served over 20,000! Charge NurseThank you so very much to those who have read it!

Im a organ donor informed my family of my decision told them to respect my decision. I also reminded them that even thou its against our cultural beliefs we as a minority are in need of transplants. So if its good enough to receive then its good enough to gift so others may have a chance to live. Have registed this on my drivers licence written this into my will along with funeral instructions to make things easier for the family. If I have anything worthwhile taking after I've passed then the doctors are more than welcomed to it after all I sure won't be needing it :)

I'd choose organ donation. After seeing what your average students do to the bodies, I think I'll pass on that!

Please, take what you can use, and let someone else be alive because of it. When my father passed away, both of his corneas went to help two previously blind people see. It's been almost 20 years since he died, but some small part of him still lives on, somewhere. Despite our differences of opinion over the years, I think that's a sweet tribute to him, that in dying, he gave such a precious gift to others.

I'd rather donate mine, think I'm registered, as then you can help more people. And spread the love further. One of my friends had a kidney transplant and I can't imagine how hard the waiting must have been...

myself wrote:My Uncle Darrel passed from lung cancer. Of course, it was terrible for Darrel and for all of us. He did not want to die in a hospital so, we took him home and with the help of Hospice learned to give the morphine and other things. Darrel had made arrangements to donate his body to science. The morning he passed the men came and took his body away. When they were done with their research, they cremated his remains at no charge and gave his ashes to his family.
Thats a very touching story.

In my country they ask you if you want to be a donor or not and that is stated in your ID. I said YES. I don't smoke. Never have. I don't drink alcohol either ... not even soda. Lush and coffee are my only vices. LOL Hey! Who wouldn't like my organs? Now ... I have always told my mom (since I was a teenager) that I wanted to be cremated. Then my best friend passed away last January and a group of his closest friends, family and I went to the place where he was cremated.. the longest three and a half hours of my life. I don't want my family to go through that ... EVER. Now I think.... I'll be dead ... and fertilize the soil eventually. Time flies.

Yes, I would donate my body and am signed up for organ donation. My family all knows of my wishes, which is important. But, and this is a big but, informing your family does not guarantee that they will respect your wishes. They are more likely to, if they have been told of them, to follow your wishes, but during the emotionally traumatic time they may not feel compelled to do so. While the family may be counseled about it, the hospital will rarely overrule the families wishes, because they don't want any negative publicity.

When I die I am donating my body to science because there is no better way to study the body than by using a real one.

definitely for organ donation. At least, it can help someone in need and save a life.

Yes of course. I would be happy to leave my organs or body parts for either donation or science. I will be dead so makes no odds to me and to be able to maybe help others would be a good thing to do.

I can imagine my body being used for research, along with the following tag wrapped around a big toe. Subject: Caucasian, 78 years of age, 6'2" 138 pounds at time of departure. Chronic smoker. Chronic drinker. Chronic drug user/abuser. Chronic Omnivore - heavy on the carnivorous side. The old gentleman belonged to several online porn sites was self-alleged to have been something of a fuckmonster between the ages of 18 and 68. Cause of death: Multiple major organ failure. I can't imagine that my organs will be of benefit to anyone under the age of 65, but hey... go for it. I imagine more giggling and breathless gasps of audacity, during instructional clinical autopsy.
