It's both the issues with voting, and the reactions to those issues, that becomes a fun-sapper for many here. For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. This applies to society as well as physics. No matter what voting system, no matter how many options or lack thereof, as long as there is a top authors list there will always be abuse. There is no reason to get so emotionally involved that you get upset over a little number. So someone doesn't like your name on the list, that is no reason to lose sleep. I'm not sure why people have voted my stories up with 5's. They are not higher than average. They are not spectacular. Instead of wondering why we are getting 3's we should be wondering who in their right mind would give most of us 5's. Quite honestly I've only read a handful of stories that truly deserved a 5. The only reason I hand out 5's is because it is socially unacceptable on Lush to give out the median or average score, a three. Forget the 3 bombers; the 5 bombers are more of a problem. Maybe we should take away justifying a score of 2 and instead have to justify a score of 5.

It would be lovely if, there was an iPhone application for people like myself with out a computer! It's quite hard talking in chat rooms with a 1cm screen away. But my main problem most of all, is not being able to upload pictures, or stories by txt message from iPhone. I have been to other dating sites, where they have this application set up , it's makes it, far more easier for the customer, and better for us to be able to use all the facilities on the site efficiently. :)

Ok, for the voting issue - how about this for a solution: 1. Have a range of votes (1 to 5) (0 - 10) whatever 2. Each vote number has an example (possibly as a tooltip) of what would consitute a story fitting that number. e.g 5 = One of the best examples of it's genre, 1 = One of the worst examples of it's genre etc 3. Only the middle vote can be cast without a comment (all other votes must be accompanied by a comment) 4. The comments must be valid (i.e. not just gibberish) and repeat offenders can have their right to vote revoked.
This way, authors get their much sought-after constructive (hopefully) feedback and we normalise scores again with only the very best getting the 5s

The voting system isn't going to be changed, we've been through this a hundred times, and this is the solution the majority are happy with.

Hey...just looking at the new "Popular Tags" list on the right of the home page... Seems to me that they are all just categories listed on the left, at least as they stand at this moment...isn't it a bit of a redundancy? One merely has to look over to the left side of the page...

Also, "rape" is shown prominently as one of the most popular searches. Given that it's prohibited content, maybe its not such a swell idea to show it as a popular search.

The searches and tags are in beta testing. Those boxes have now been removed as the live testing pointed out a few issues. It will be live in April.
There will be a word exclusion list built into both the tags and top searches.
There will be randomness built in to prevent the same words appearing day in day out.
The top searches and tags will have their own full pages, with filtering based on chosen categories or some other means.

Seems to be a bit of a couple glitches when searching for various stories. As a test do the following.
Select the category of Lesbian and you'll see there are 37 pages of stories under that category.
So you'd think you'd get the same or more with a search based on if it had a category or tag of Lesbian. You don't. You only get 12 pages of stories. Further, if you click next you are taken to a blank results page.
Maybe all of this was already known, but I figured I'd point it out just in case.

Would not a search and a tag provide different stories? Let's say that lesbian stories are written and the author does not put a lesbian tag on it. A search would pull it up because it contains lesbian but a tag would not as there is no lesbian tag on the story. Or a lesbian tag is put on a story that contains no lesbianism. It would not be pulled up in a search but display itself under a lesbian tag. Or do I have it wrong?

It is different from a tag search (in the works), which is purely looking at tags.

Can we have an national Moderator/staff/owner appreciation day, where we, for one single day, don't cause anyone any problems, bitch about things, make ridiculous demands, and simply shower them all with love? :) Bitches in the Basement on Amazon by our own Dancing Doll

I know the voting system has been talked about to death lately...but, I was thinking that maybe the requirement for a comment when someone gives a low score just isn't a strong enough deterrent... I was thinking that maybe in addition there should be some sort of subtle prompt... Something like this for instance... What do you guys think???

Hmmm...just curious, is it me or are we losing features lately? I could have sworn we were able sort tag searches by number of views, scores, ratings and date... I'll have to ease up on the sauce...

I could have sworn we were able sort tag searches by number of views, scores, ratings and date... That was never part of the design. I am sure down the track it could be incorporated. Gav has his hands full setting up a new database server for us, we don't have enough server power to handle the load currently. Well, we do 99.9% of the time, but it's not good enough going forward (and who wants to go backward?).

When looking at a friends profile you can see the date they last visited but not how many hours ago that was. It would be nice to add this (rather like the info you get on the Playstation 3 when you view your friends) so you can see if you have just missed them!

I just noticed that we can see how many minutes or hours ago they were here. I am not thrilled with this. I think the last day they visited is sufficient, especially for those of us that choose to be "invisible" or "away."

As I understand It just shows the last time someone logged on and not logged off... I don't see how that effects the invisible status. If someone is invisible I think it is clear for others that that person doesn't want to be contacted. I don't mind this new feature! Just my
