I have been trying to decide on the plot progression for my first story 'Bouncy Rain". I am torn between a very believable but possibly tame plot line that will almost wrap itself up and hopefully leave no loose ends, or a much more raunchy plot line that will almost certainly open up a raft of questions that readers would probably want answered. Should I be aiming to make each instalment as exciting as possible without worrying too much about where the story is going, or should I be concerned with long-term plotting over short-term action?
I actually thought about doing a little straw poll and letting readers decide the next step. I haven't noticed anyone else doing this, is it a valid way to proceed? Being so new to all this I am not sure what is acceptable and what is not.

Writers tend to agree its best to just tell your tale as it comes. Write and don't worry about how exciting each installment is. Tell the story. If you concentrate on making each segment hot, it can and likely will detract from the overall story. IMHO
I have always said... and will always say... write for you and only you. Write how you want to see it.
Personally for me... the story just writes itself.

Sometimes people don't like the story that is published, maybe it's not the normal, but who wants to be normal?
Use allusions and creative writing to describe actions. Rather than using bluntness and crude words(pussy, dick, cock, cunt). It degenerates from the writing, if the attempt is to produce a good piece of writing or give off a good story with even a slight bit of depth. Now characters speaking the words above is a little different, provided it isn't misused and abused. But when describing a scene or action, I'd say its better to refrain from the use of such words.
Write both, 2 chapters maybe but name them according. Something like "Bouncy Rain: Drizzle" for the the soft stuff and "Bouncy Rain: Downpour" for the raunchy stuff. More work but you obviously want both.
There are only so many ways to describe a big cock entering a wet pussy/ tight asshole/ willing mouth. For me, the turn on is the setting of the scene and the dialogue between characters. The build up of sexual tension and desire is often more exciting than the sex that transpires.
Erotica should concentrate on having an equal balance of story and action.
Any story, whether erotic or otherwise, should have a good plot. What is critical to erotica though is to have believable characters and to express their emotional state in a way that connects to the reader. One can write that he or she is excited but for the story to succeed, the reader must not simply know that they are, the reader must feel it too. If you can do that, then your story will be able to arouse the reader and get their blood hot. That is what makes a story erotic.
Because I prefer to write in the first person, the persona of the storyteller/character guides the choice of words. So if it's "natural" for the storyteller to weave a complex story, that's what happens and if it's natural for the storyteller to get down to business and "git 'er done", that's what happens. What sells the story to the reader is the situation and the believability of the characters.

Both. If you focus too much on the sex, the plot is lost. If you focus too much on the plot, the sex is lost. I've stopped reading stories in both of these cases. I like stories that have a balance. And it's even more amazing to me when the sex is wrapped up in the plot.

There's no single mold that all erotica will fit into. Some erotica is made for stories. Some is made for action. Compare it to video games. Super Mario and Final Fantasy are both fun, but no one plays Super Mario for the story, and Final Fantasy isn't very action-packed. It all depends on what you're trying to do. The important thing is to entertain.
Write from your heart better a good detailed story in my opinion to draw the reader into the raunchy parts.
I think erotica should strive to strike a balance between story and action, just as any other genre should. I try to get a balance between story and action, sometimes I succeed, sometimes I just suck.

Story and character development first, then use that foundation to BUILD to the hot action. Otherwise you don't care about the characters or what they're doing sexually.
i have read so many quick fuck stories... .the story line could have been there. great idea but darn lost due to no details. i love reading sex scenes like i am sure you all do too... but sex with just a cock and pussy, no face or personality behind it really doesn't do it for me. don't need romance. but the build up of heat is a must... anticipation is the ultimate.
i say the story, anyone can have sex but to make that sex so much hotter, it has to have a good story leading up to it and after it for that matter. really, what do you want your reader to get out of it? a story they read and forget 10 seconds after they finish it, or one they come back to time and time again. not just for the sex but for the whole story.
If you can write an intricate sex scene that takes its time and has build ups in intensity within it, then you can actually create a compelling action-oriented piece of writing. But in this case, the quality of the writing is just as important as what's actually going on in order to really 'sell it' to the reader.
For the most part - I think a nice balance between storytelling and sexual action is the way to go. For me, the best authors in this genre always have the story building towards the sexual outcome or 'climax' though, so sexual tension should create excitement along the way.
It should be whatever you are comfortable with. This is your site for what you want to write. Think of it this way, if it reaches its targeted audience, then it's all good..........
Wondering what you're going to write, isn't writing. Your best work will be what comes most naturally to you.

If writing a short story then you have to go to the action almost straight away. However, if writing over 2,000 words then the build up is important to get the reader aroused.
