You can make your own room and then consider that yours. (Just a little tip from me to you.)

making friends in the chat rooms.

it's easy to come in and be overwhelmed when a chat room is super full and there's conversations going on all around you. hell, i spend lots of time in chat and i get that way too, plus, like at parties, you have the people who know each other already and you have this little knot of friends and that little group of people...

when i first joined lush, i kept visiting chat rooms - i did it when there wasn't a lot of people in them, and i just sort of went in and started talking a little, saying hi, making comments, sort of easing myself into conversations until i got to know a few people, i was friendly, and i didn't go in with the intention of cybering, none of this "i'm horny, want to chat's stuff. after a few visits i started to get to know the regulars and eventually started feeling comfortable.

i find that, if you just go in and be yourself and are interesting and look for a conversation that you can add to, like if someone is talking cars, and you know lots about cars and sort of join in, you end up doing fine and pretty soon feel at home. most of the people here are very friendly and if someone is making an effort to be included, they'll welcome them. don't expect a free ride, though - you need to make the effort to get to know people too.

I read above about using the pop up box for emotes, I only use that if I forget a code, or use one I don't normally use, otherwise it's much faster to manually type in the code

Here is a big TIP for chat rooms: If you send out a special invitation to someone to join in on a chat room, at least speak and say hello when they drop in. To NOT do that is just RUDE as hell.

It's also a good way to put yourself permanently on someone's SHIT list.

You can right click the name in the black box and pick "open in new tab" to not go directly to their profile.

This is very helpful information! I suppose I should have come here a long time ago but Im sooo used to hunt & peck.

It would be cool if there was an update on some of the chat functions... I've know that they've been enhanced quite a bit since this thread was created.

I've been seeing some folks who have the ability to go outside of the standard chat ACTIONS and use their own. I was wondering how that is done.

Also wanted to see if there was a list of the chat actions. I used quite a bit already but was rather surprised when I clicked "bend over" thinking I was bending someone over only to find it it was I who was bending over. Not at all what I was expecting LOL

Chat room tips:

#1. Actually chat. Don't just sit there lurking, reading what others type and make no contributions.
#2. Don't just post porn pics. Converse. Porn pics by themselves are not foreplay. People in chat rooms want communication via typed words.
#3. Don't be an asshat troll, i.e. Don't enter and start asking people if they want to go private without chatting with them first.
#4. Don't consider it a meat market where you can enter, type your asl and expect instant private sex chat.
#5. Be polite. Say your greeting to everyone in the room before trying to hit on someone you think is sexy.
#6. Respect other chatters' conversations. Don't interrupt them.
#7. READ PROFILES before trying to chat someone up.
#8. Join in politely with topic discussions.
#9. LEARN AND PRACTICE GOOD NETIQUETTE. (Look it up if you don't know what that means).
#10. Be who you are. Don't pretend to be a lesbian if you are just a horny guy wanting to sex chat women.
