When warming up something that has a decent beat to it but when in a full cardio it's a fast heavy beat. Bands like Godsmack, Disturbed, Cavo, Shinedown, Linkin park...bands like that then on my cool down I back it back down to decent beats to calm my system down.

Any kind of base heavy dubstep. Repetitive beats, less vocals than metal or rock to think about

The only thing I listen to is the sound of my own breathing. When I run or ride in the park, I love listening to the sounds of nature... a trickling brook meandering down a hill, the singing of birds and the crunching of leaves in the fall. When on the road, it's just plain unsafe to have music plugged into my ears. My excercise time is spent thinking about life, or formulating ideas for a story or a poem.

I actually prefer not to listen to anything other than nature while I run. Listening to music only alters my running rhythm and I get distracted. I prefer to think about my thoughts while I run, or focus on my breathing, pacing, etc.

My exercise music is extremely eclectic ..from classic rock to jazz and pretty much everything in between, with the exception of rap...I am a skater..so it mixes up a fast skate with a wonderful long glide..but hey I am right next to the beach when I skate, so with the music and amazing view...I am completely lost within it..it is no longer exercise but a pure pleasure..of course dropping 5 stones helped too...

It really depends on my mood... If I'm doing cardio, it's typically some Madonna (recent albums), Lady Gaga, Britney's dance-electronic tracks, Eminem, Marilyn Manson, lots of remixes to straight up house music - Deep Dish, Tiesto, Oakenfold. Other times I'll just listen to whatever I'm into at the time - could be some indie, trance or rock when I'm not doing heavy cardio.

I have an old mp3 player, and when I have to walk a lot at a fast pace to keep me going, I like Live Lounge music from radio 1 when Joe Wiley was there boo-hoo, she's at Radio 2 now.

It depends on what kind of exercise it is really if it's just running on a treadmill or free running/Parkcour it would be something along the lines of Black Eye Peas or David guetta music that gets you pumped up and makes every step you run fun.
But if it's just yoga I'd listen to something slow paced and relaxing the kind of music that soothes you.

When I run, I like to have a variety of songs with a variety of tempos in my playlist...then when I'm hitting a wall, I've usually got something coming up that will shock me into pushing through it. Lately, though, I've been doing the elliptical to avoid the cold weather, and what I like more than anything is watching motivational TV while I'm working out. I've started recording The Biggest Loser and The Revolution and watching those on DVR while I'm on the machine. Anything involving people pushing themselves is inspiring to me. Even Beachbody commercials get me pumped up. That sounds so stupid, I can hardly believe I'm confessing to it on here...but it works for me!! Good thinking TXGirl on the biggist loser thing.
I listen to anything up beat. I find 80s songs pretty good to work out to.
