2 questions, and not living in America, please excuse my ignorance, but: 1) Isn't Obamacare all about looking after the lowest income earners in the US, making sure they can get health insurance? So why would the President of the US, need to have this assistance? He must be paid a fair bit over the minimum wage no? 2) Is the following image representative of the OP or not? I fear not.

The President, his cabinet, US Congressman & US Senators and their families all have fabulous healthcare insurance provided by the tax payers. The best money can buy. You wouldn't expect politicians, who all seem to get stinking rich during their terms and vote in their own level of care and benefits, to subject their families to the minimum 'wait-in-line' care that will be provided to the poor at the bottom of income levels.

I have to agree with Buz and others that govt. congressmen and women and all elected officials should play by the same rules as those they govern, not vote themselves pay raises and be insured the same as those they represent.
The OP's implication that this is exclusive to the president and his family is childish sour grapes as Mitt Romney's family would be insured just the same had he won, and members of both parties voted themselves and enjoy these unfair benefits.

i'm pretty sure that Mr Obama isn't in great need of "Obamacare" people like me, however, are, and for that, i'm truly thankful for him for looking out for us. I'm sure that Mitt Romney also, has a enough money to buy coverage far more than most of us could afford. Bitches in the Basement on Amazon by our own Dancing Doll

The President and his family doesn't need "Obamacare". It was created for the very many without great healthcare.

There is a great need for healthcare reform. I am sure the current government plan will hit many snafus. There will be many changes made to it over the next few years, hopefully that will make it work better than not. Personally, I do not trust the government to do a very good job. They rarely do and it may become a bureaucratic nightmare. I hope not. It will not effect me that much, except I am sure I will pay more in taxes because of it. What worries me much more is the ever growing trillions of dollars in debt that the federal government is losing ground to on a daily basis without any real concept on how to pay it down or even stem the rise.

Obamacare is not a single system. It is a response to the fact that the employment based health insurance system has collapsed. The major factor in the bankruptcy of GM was the obligations to the healthcare fund for retirees. If you have employment based healthcare then nothing changes for you except that you don't have to worry about losing your healthcare if you lose your job. We lost health coverage 3 days after my wife was laid off. That required my employer to change my contract so that I could be insured under their policy. Anyone who thinks that the US health care system was working before must have had a lobotomy too many.

I hope the new government healthcare plan works out. It actually requires everyone by law to carry health insurance. If you or your employer cannot afford a better private healthcare plan then you can opt for the government plan (which will operate much like an HMO, only run by the government.) Because government has such a poor track record of running anything, I am afraid that the poor will still get substandard care, but that may be more than they are getting now. It would be awesome if it really works because the system needs major changes.

Well he could if he wanted to put his family on a private plan paid for by him. He could also file a 1040 EZ tax form and pay the maximum in taxes to the US Federal Government, but , he has yet to do that either. His promise was a $2,500 per private policy drop in premiums from the time he signed the Socialist health care act.... so far all we have seen is increases. The thing is his cost for this plan was going to be no more then 900 Billion over the first 10 yrs, so far CBO places that cost at 1.76 Trillion.

If you have employment based healthcare then nothing changes " Lord
small note, what does change is your employeer must by a basket of goods that they might not currently be buying, as to meet the minimum standard as set out by the HHR Nancy Sibelious.
to that end i have been told two things by my health care insurance provider:
1, My plan is going to have more coverage added to it 2, My plans going to cost more because of that added unwanted mandated coverage

And for those of you who voted for any of the uber conservative Republicans in the last two national elections (2010-2012). Using the Fiscal Cliff situation - the leading Republicans in congress - put off an aid packaged for victims of Hurricane Sandy.House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) and House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) pulled the plug on a vote after bickering over tax hikes, spending cuts and the “fiscal cliff” distracted lawmakers from storm victims’ plight. The House adjourned and the chamber dimmed with the livid New York and New Jersey delegations still on the floor.Rep. Pete King (R-L.I.) said no official reason was given on the floor. He called the delay “a betrayal of trust” after heavy lobbying by Gov. Cuomo and Mayor Bloomberg. “For the Speaker to just walk out is wrong, and I say that as a member of the Republican Party,” King said. It took Congress just 10 days to pass disaster aid after Hurricane Katrina struck New Orleans. When San Francisco was hobbled by an earthquake in 1989, an aid package became law eight days later. But 65 long days have passed since Hurricane Sandy ravaged New York and people like Rockaway Park, Queens, resident Phyllis Cavazzina are still waiting for congressional action. “It’s disgraceful,” fumed Cavazzina, 59, who said her neighborhood still looks like a war zone. "They told us to basically drop dead.”

I feel sympathy for the people in Long Island, but when they voted for Peter King they were voting for just this kind of thing. King is one of the uber=cons who have made this congress possible. He is always way out on the right wing where wanting to help people in need is communism and stirring up the most basic hateful side of people is considered just politics. As long as people vote for guys like King, this is the kind of thing they can expect.

LOL exactly. I savor the delicious irony of guys like King and Chris Christie, who spew demagoguery and lies, and more importantly, support the careers of countless others that do the same, but then turn around and act aggrieved and surprised when those same people fail to act with a baseline of competency and compassion. Just hilarious. Go have another fudge sundae, Christie. You helped make this bed, pal.

Well Doc, I hope you learned something...
Your question was very well written, asking an honest question, leaning neither to the right or left. Yet somehow you managed to piss off a couple of the Presidents disciples and have now suffered their wrath by being; chided, called names, ridiculed, had several aspersions cast at your character and been called a "hypocrite" even though you gave no indication as to your history in the question.
Do you have the real answer you were looking for? Did you get the answer to the question under the question you asked?
In case you missed it, the answer you no-doubt have come to is; never question the President...ever...about anything.
Good question tho, four years from now when it all kicks in many here won't remember ever being for Obamacare.
RM
BTW: my answer is that if it's good enough for the least among us it should be good for the most among us.

Robin, your answers are typically good enough for all of us. :) As for me, I'll happily respond as requested: Quote:Just would like to hear your opinion/reaction to your President not putting his family on Obamacare. I'd have never expected him to do so in the first place, unless he was previously uninsured, though with his assets and income, that's highly unlikely.

That's flaming bullshit. You don't even have to like the President or support him to follow simple logic. The health care act aims to provide a minimum for people who do not have insurance. A President, a congressperson, and a large portion of the middle class do not have need of its provisions, as they provide (with or without the help of their employers). The healthcare law does not ask or require those with the means to take that minimum, but it is designed to help those who currently cannot do so for themselves.

Very unlikely, considering he and his family are protected for life by the best health care in the world... bought and paid for by the American tax payer (all 52% of us). But think about it Lady X, if he and his family were on HIS health care plan it would take this argument away forever. But he's not. Humm....... RM

BTW: my answer is that if it's good enough for the least among us it should be good for the most among us. This was a bogus question from the start, and the OP was/is fully aware of that. Excuse us for seeing the question for what it is. Despite all of that, people still stated the obvious and presented the OP with sensible answers. Thus far, your response has been the most hostile as you're attacking pretty much everyone on this thread for having a legitimate response to this question, and making ridiculous assumptions. The general consensus is that President Obama isn't and won't be using Obamacare because it's designed for those who NEED it....and he and his family aren't lacking in health care (you know, being that he's a highly paid president of the United States and all).
