Willow has a great suggestion..... Also you can surf the forums too, and see a person you like their answers to things or comments. See if they are online, and then ask to chat with them. Or do a member search using your chosen criteria (age, sex, interests, location, etc.) and then read the profiles and see if they are online. You can meet some cool people like that.
