I know! The tooth grinding was probably a result of alcohol withdrawal. I should never have broke the chain!

I have been addicted to hard drugs in the past and found it most unpleasant to withdraw from them. My shrink told me I'm an addictive personality. Seems to me most people are in one way or another. I find that life ongoing as well as life memories are best for me dulled in the evenings with a glass of something. Keeps me out of the nuthouse or morgue. I too need a crown or two Nic. My guy told me it's $800.00 per and I thought that was high. I feel for ya. Alan? Raise your glass with me to these fine people. This rounds on me.

Eh, I'd probably think about having a vodka cranberry, but I wouldn't go crazy over it.

Well, I fell off the group. It was one of those days today. Nothing has gone according to plan, and there were two bottles of wine just sitting there, BEGGING to be consumed.
Who would have guessed that my little tale, the very First one I ever submitted to Lush would be read by so many? It shocks me a little to realize that it has now served over 20,000! Charge NurseThank you so very much to those who have read it!

And so it begins... (I don't think I can hold out much longer, especially with Valentine's Day around the corner, and a friend's 40th a few days later. I'm only human... )

Traffic John Barleycorn Must Die (English folksong)
There were three men came out of the West, Their fortunes for to try, And these three men made a solemn vow: John Barleycorn must die.
They've ploughed, they've sown, they've harrowed him in, Threw clods upon his head, And these three men made a solemn vow: John Barleycorn was dead.
They've let him lie for a very long time, Till the rains from heaven did fall, And little Sir John sprung up his head, And so amazed them all.
They've let him stand till midsummer's day, Till he looked both pale and wan, And little Sir John's grown a long, long beard, And so become a man.
They've hired men with the scythes so sharp, To cut him off at the knee, They've rolled him and tied him by the way, Serving him most barbarously.
They've hired men with the sharp pitchforks, Who pricked him to the heart, And the loader he has served him worse than that, For he's bound him to the cart
They've wheeled him around and around the field, Till they came unto a barn, And there they made a solemn oath, On poor John Barleycorn.
They've hired men with the crab-tree sticks, To cut him skin from bone, And the miller he has served him worse than that, For he's ground him between two stones.
And little Sir John and the nut-brown bowl, And he's brandy in the glass; And little Sir John and the nut-brown bowl, Proved the strongest man at last.
The huntsman, he can't hunt the fox, Nor so loudly to blow his horn, And the tinker he can't mend kettle nor pot, Without a little Barleycorn

There's something a little haunting about that track fsharp, very moving! Day 10 - I'm thinking double figures is a perfectly acceptable milestone, and a brave attempt!....

Sprite - I declare it a draw...I had a glass of wine with dinner tonight. Febfast is over for me, a big "sorry" to the stayers! I have too much going on socially this month to stick to it! 10 days is a minor win in my book!

I've decided to cut out alcohol during the week, which isn't as easy as I thought it would be. I really do enjoy a glass of wine when I get home from work. Good luck to everyone who is still holding strong!

I'm in my 50's and after all these years I have found that the less I drink, the more I enjoy it. I don't mean I enjoy the fact that I am drinking less. I mean I find that I enjoy each drink so much more. I do not drink every day, and when I do drink, I only have 1 drink. To sit down and enjoy a glass of scotch on the rocks, or a manhattan, or a bloody mary is a welcomed treat. I'm not interested in getting drunk, I'm interested in savoring the taste of the alcohol.
So, I have decided to spend the next few months trying a variety of whiskeys (or whiskys) and appreciating them for their differences. What a wonderful journey it will be!

Update: I did have a glass (OK two) of red in honor of St Valentine, (the best of excuses). I'm back on track now. Yes, I did feel the difference since I was "dry" for 13 days. You don't think that it affects you when you have a drink every day or most days. You really do need to treat yourself after you find a bug in your food. I know I saw that in writing somewhere. OK, I think I've been going about this all wrong. I've been trying to limit my drinking to the weekends. I think I had it all assbackwards. I've now decided to limit my non drinking days to 2 days a week and drink the other 5. I am pretty sure that I will be much more successful this way. I will let you know how it goes. My self control SUCKS!
