NYC Soccer ban

Austrualia, no candle blowies at schools/daycares

Maybe we should start bubble wrapping our kids. Or we can all buy some robots that can live our lives for us while we control them via remote from our homes.

Okay, let's be clear about this. "High fives" were not banned by the city. The Manhattan Soccer Club did it in response to a flu emergency declared by the city. Given how bad the flu's been this year (at least here in the Great White North), I'm willing to file that one under "reasonable precautions" as long as it remains temporary.

The Australian one, on the other hand, seems just silly.

Its been a while but I finally got a new story out. Enjoy!

Yeah, I realize that but it still seems silly. I've never played soccer but from what I've seen, the players do spend some time in close proximity. Pushing against each other, touching each other, there is contact. Not to mention sitting next to your teammates on the bench. I'm sure they touch each other. After 90 minutes of playing soccer, the high fives aren't adding any danger. I realize there was/is a flu epidemic, if it's that bad then why play at all?

Have you ever seen kids blowing out candles? It usually looks like they're trying to douse the flames in spit

It doesn't make me want to have a slice.
