Heartfelt thanks to all of you. The support and confidence everyone has shown is just humbling, and it would be impossible to feel more fortunate. I think the best way I can show my appreciation is to keep writing stories you'll enjoy reading...and I'm working on doing just that.

It would be a huge oversight not to acknowledge all the work put in by Nicola and Ashleigh in getting any and all Lush Publications ebooks out and available. All your well wishes must be shared with them.

Topic Just take away the guns, do it now
Posted 16 Dec 2012 22:06

The guy in Connecticut used an assault rifle with NATO ammunition for the most part of his nightmare attack.

I am an avid hunter and I don't use assault rifles or NATO ammunition to hunt. There really is no need for people to be carrying around military weaponry. In all these mass killings military weaponry is the main tool of attack. Something has to be done about keeping military weapons out of the hands of psychos. Those type weapons are also the guns of choice of organized criminals such as gangs and crime syndicates. Of course most of those are smuggled, bought and sold illegally.

I have no problem with more serious gun laws and longer waiting periods for someone to make a gun purchase. Criminal and mental background checks should be made of anyone purchasing a gun. Also, military assault weapons and ammunition need to be curbed or eradicated.

Certainly there are other social & cultural issues to be considered here. Those would include violent video games and movies and such. I myself have played many violent video games and I enjoy violent movies such as those by Quentin Tarantino movies quite a bit, but how much are those games and movies desensitizing people to murder, violence and death? The majority of people can handle such entertainment but evidently not so for many people with mental illnesses.

I just heard on the news that up to 20% of the population could be suffering some form of mental illness. I am sure most of those are not dangerous but what percentage is?

Unfortunately some warped minds may see personal glory and fame in carrying out such sick mass killings. That is very disturbing.

When I heard of those children being killed in Connecticut I had to get alone cry.

Buz, I really think the NRA would be in a much better position if they had you for a spokesman. Responsible, rational gun owners aren't the problem, yet we have too many gun related problems in this country. And one thing that usually happens in America, when something like this happens, people say we need different laws when we've failed to enforce the laws we already have. More laws are just to make people feel better for a little while. It's like a social placebo.

There's been a lot of heated discussion about guns in these forums lately. Times like this, it just seems politics and ideology stack up like a pile of bovine manure, and maybe we'd all be better off if more of us take that moment like Buz did to remember to stop and weep for those children in CT. And yeah...turning off the fucking news wouldn't be such a bad idea, either.

Topic At least 18 children and 9 others dead in Connecticut school shooting. Does this change your mind ab
Posted 16 Dec 2012 16:03

In November Americans bought more than 2 million guns. On Black Friday, the FBI reported more than 154,000 background checks for gun purchases. There are more stores selling guns in the US than McDonald's. And that does not include all of the gun shows and sales there which skip the background checks. (from ABC News)

Why is this necessary?

The brief answer would be...it's not.

Topic Stories - Should we disable deleting?
Posted 15 Dec 2012 13:14

Clearly, people need to be more aware of the valuable time the mods contribute here, and resubmitting a story that's been deleted does seem to be a presumptuous abuse of their time. It would be understandable if someone deleted a story and then made significant revisions, but now with the option to hide the story, deleting wouldn't be necessary. The policy of not verifying stories that were already verified once before is clear and fair.

However, if I didn't have the option to easily delete material that essentially belongs to me, I'd have to think a lot harder about whether to submit something or not. I'd probably stop submitting poems altogether if I didn't have the option to delete them.

While the incredible contribution of the mods here is absolutely indispensable, not to mention gracious on a Herculean level, it's also true that many writers here invest a great deal of time and effort in their writing, and then submit what we write here for people's free entertainment. It's a whole lot of work on everyone's part, and the option to delete shows us deference and respect. Please leave this option as it is.

Topic Second Amendment
Posted 21 Nov 2012 22:26

When the constitution was written "our" government didn't exist. The threat the forefathers were concerned with was an absentee monarchy. The Constitution was an idealistic idea that took eleven more years to become a reality.

Obviously, MrNudiePants, if the wording were "unequivocal" there would be no room for interpretation, except yours. "Of the people, by the people and for the people." The forefathers saw the people and the government as one and the same, and the second amendment does not allow for anyone and everyone who feels like it's cool to own a gun. If you're a responsible gun owner, then I applaud your civility and defend your right to own them, but this country is choking on violence and stupidity, and to pretend the constitution guarantees any and every person on the street the right to own lethal weapons is irresponsible at best. As a man of clear opinions, I suspect you might even agree that the interpretation of the second amendment is less an issue than enforcing laws that already exist.

Topic Second Amendment
Posted 20 Nov 2012 13:04

Tazz is correct. The second amendment was written to guarantee the US's autonomy in maintaining its own military, since prior to the revolution the colonies were not allowed to do so. It has nothing to do with guaranteeing everyone and their newborn babies the supposed right to carry guns. In the constitution, when they refer to "the right of the people", they meant a government the founding fathers saw as being a body of cooperating citizen legislators.

Although I grew up around guns and recognize them as an important tool for hunters and farmers - and still have respect for responsible gun owners - guns are a fucking insidious pestilence on American society, and the short-sighted insistence by many who feel it's just fine to perpetuate the steadily worsening of embarrassment of the US in the eyes of the world is distasteful under the best of circumstances. Violence, selfishness and arrogance are glamorized in the US, and it's one of the most shameful aspects of our cultural character....or perhaps lack thereof.

While it's not possible - thankfully - to change the actual wording of the US constitution, that's the reason our government continues writing amendments to it, otherwise, only white, male landowners would have the right to vote.

Kurt Vonnegut used to say that the American experiment in freedom was only just beginning. He was more optimistic than I am, but I hope he was right.

I'm sure there must be a way for a writer - or even a human being - to feel more fortunate than I do for the amazing support and enthusiasm of so many incredible people, but I wouldn't know what it is. Sometimes I wonder if you're talking about anyone I know. All I ever really wanted to do was - hopefully - write a few stories that might make someone feel just a little bit of the passion we all have inside us to reach out and not feel alone, not feel judged or ashamed or less than anything but the astonishing miracle of being human. The real world is continually devising ways to stress and repress us. I'm not even sure I can always keep track of what's real in the alleged "real world". So comments like those above just make me feel humble, and so grateful for the reminder of how incredibly valuable and beautiful we all are.

Perhaps to put it another way: y'all rock!!!

Now about that tattoo. Isn't it gonna hurt in those spots?

Topic Mod Appreciation Thread
Posted 13 Aug 2012 12:31

I'm sure something like this already exists, but oh well, here it goes again.

In lieu (lol, lieu) of some issues that I have been dealing with lately and the quick and cheery responses I've received, I thought it'd be a nice gesture to tell the mods just how much I appreciate them, even the ones I've never interacted with directly.

So thanks to all site moderators, chat moderators, bullshit-put-up-withers, and anyone else I may have left out. This is the most amazing and unique erotica community I've ever been apart of. So to all of you good folks that make this place what it is, I sincerely appreciate you.

I'm glad that despite all of the crap you put up with on a daily basis, you still think this place and we Lushies are worth your extensive efforts!notworthy

Whether it's been done before or not shouldn't matter. The mods here volunteer their time for everyone else's benefit on a daily basis. You all provide a wonderful service and do so with a good nature, even when the clueless among us treat you with undeserved stupidity. I think you all ROCK! and remain genuinely grateful for the time and effort you give us all.

Topic Why Do People Have to Be So Crap?
Posted 03 Aug 2012 18:38

I'm not sure what to say, other than Daisy is the kind of person anyone with a shred of decency and basic awareness would treat with a very high degree of regard. To say the very LEAST. But just imagine what a hard core life it must be for a sadass motherfucker like that goosestepping every day through the deep manure of his own, lamentable existence. HIS friends probably have to be soundly pissed in order to tolerate the aromatic tedium of his presence. I just feel pity - not sympathy, mind you...i'm not that generous - for anyone who has to get through their day with that big a void smack dab in the middle of what makes us different than...say...um...flatulent, needle-dick gnats.

I'm not even sure it's worth trying to figure people out anymore. I mean...the same species that produced John Coltrane, Mother Theresa and Mozart also brought us Ted Bundy, Margaret Thatcher, Sarah Palin, Donald Trump, Donald Trump's barber, the first three Mrs Trumps and the asshole who invented childproof bottle tops.

Go figure.

Shylass rocks.
