Topic Your ideal girl?
Posted 03 Dec 2012 17:23

In general, I am attracted to strong (both mentally and physically) females, who can be independent and get things done. Plus if they are open-minded, intellectual who share my interests then even better. On top of that if they have sexy and fit body and a naughty side in the bedroom then that would be my ideal mate!

Topic David Petraeus's resignation: Do you approve him having to resign?
Posted 10 Nov 2012 19:26

He has been hailed as one of the greatest military minds of current times. His extra-marital affair is clearly his personal issue. I am not sure if professionals should be asked to resign for their personal affairs (specially, because this is clearly not criminal - only a moral issue). He has contributed so much to the US and Nato, a part of me actually feels sorry for him.

What do you think? Why do you think it was justified??

Topic Someone is gazing at you from behind.. would you realise? how would you react??
Posted 10 Nov 2012 11:14

It is kind of weird, but sometimes you can just kind of feel someone staring at you. Maybe it is just that you are catching them in your peripheral vision.

hmm.. that's what I was wondering.. such a feeling (claiming that she could feel that someone was staring) appears in many stories..

but this is something very mysterious...don't know if science can explain this.

I was hoping to get more responses .... girls can you please write your experience?

Topic Someone is gazing at you from behind.. would you realise? how would you react??

It is possible to catch stolen glances when some one is front/side of you.. but what if the person behind you is undressing you with his eyes... would you know? If yes, how soon? Typically, how would you react?

Topic Number of athiests on the rise
Posted 08 Nov 2012 16:27

I wonder if the number of atheists is on the rise or if people just don't care what others think of them anymore. Used to be you had to see and be seen in church on Sundays or you would get snide remarks made behind your back as well as openly. Now perhaps people just don't give a shit and tell the sheeple to clean up their own lives before trying to clean up others.
Then again, maybe they just want some kind of proof instead of being bullshitted all the time.:-"

Atheism and 'going to church' (or any other place of worship) are quite different things...Many people would classify themselves as theists/believers... even though they may not participate in religious activities on a regular basis...
in fact.. I would go a step further and say that religion has nothing to do with god perse (even if we assume that god exists).. religions are man made after all....

Topic Let the voting begin! Let's see how a lushworld poll compares to the real world...
Posted 30 Oct 2012 19:37

Well actually the problem has been solved by printing money... ......

Most models predict that the economy turns round in 2014 and that creates 12 million new jobs regardless. Which is why Mr cynical is promising to do that, he knows it will happen anyway.

As for the deficit, well that will close on Jan 1st due to the Bush tax cuts ending and the sequestration happening. So if congress did absolutely nothing the budget deficit would pretty much go away. Only doing it that way would likely cause another recession. Now the GOP is of course demanding that nobody else is getting a tax cut unless Mittens gets a much bigger one. And they might well follow through there. But the sequestration is likely to go away simply because the GOP really likes spending money on militarism regardless of whether it has any defensive value or not.

Interesting indeed... can't wait to see how things actually unfold. Thanks Mate icon_smile

The EU situation is entirely due to the stupidity of the Euro. There is a shortage of demand in most of the EU and a surplus in Germany. Before the Euro what would have happened is the governments with a shortage of demand would have printed as much money as needed to create demand to end their recession. But doing that now would cause a surplus of demand in Germany and that would mean inflation.

Because the German establishment misremembers history, they believe inflation led to the rise of Hitler. Actually the inflation was sorted out before Hitler came to power. It was the recession that followed that brought Hitler to power (that plus the establishment being OK with Hitler liquidating the Communist party which gave him the parliamentary majority he needed to pass the enabling act).

So now they are forcing Greece into a recession and ignoring the fact that a fascist party, Golden Dawn is drawing almost the level of support the NAZI party drew while also having a branch of thugs who beat people up for disagreeing with them.

Recessions happen from time to time and when they happen the government needs to create demand which means increasing the money supply one way or the other. Then when the economy is moving they should be running a surplus and paying down the debt incurred in the recession. The reason the US is in trouble right now is that Bush paid for tax cuts for Romney and two wars on the national credit card. Now Romney proposes $5 trillion in new tax cuts, $2 trillion in new spending and he promises to balance the budget too!

What they will do of course is to plough further into debt and then announce that it is all the fault of those 47% who are poor. And that is of course entirely their fault and not because the Walmarts and the Koch bros and such pay starvation wages and then make the rest of us taxpayers make up the difference with welfare.

The Walton family and the Koch bros and Romney have all benefitted massively from corporate welfare, that is what we should be cutting.

.. hmm.. but do you suggest that printing more money is the answer to US's woes? Surely, it is more complicated than that, else the problem would have been dealt with till now!
secondly, I agree with you that Romney's figures don't add up and that the two wars initiated by Bush have contributed to heavily to the current debt. But isn't it true that Obama's plans will lead to even more debt in the short to medium term? Isn't there a risk of irrecoverable damage there?
Although, I would like to support the democrats, it is questions like these that create a doubt in my mind .... Think
any clarification would be most welcome!

Although, I would like to think that I am liberal... I am doubtful as to whether Obama's economic policies would work. This is not the time to increase spending on welfare - we have all seen what is happening in EU!

I am just glad that I am not an american - hence I do not have to vote! But the economic future of US does worry me (since it affects all of us)!!

Topic How important is a man's height?
Posted 07 Oct 2012 18:04

I am a really short guy - but I have also been smart, intelligent and reasonably fit. My advice to fellow short men is:

Yes, most girls do prefer guys much taller than themselves. BUT if you have the right personality, women will come to you - and those who do come would be more genuine - since they have managed to see beyond your height.

Personally, I know at least two girls who had fallen for me when I was at Uni, but I rejected them for their looks (they were both rather stout) - I was not proud of this 'superficial' judgement - but frankly, I wasn't attracted to them.

However, right then, I also found my gf (my wife now) - she was fit, good looking and about 5 cm (3/2 inches) taller than me - we have been madly in love with each other ever since (12 years - and going stronger) ....

deep down .. I know I was lucky that I was only 18 when I met her... it might take a bit longer for some.. but don't give up!!

Topic How important is a man's height?
Posted 07 Oct 2012 17:52

Short guys can certainly be sexy, but being short really is a disadvantage. I'm a short girl, but I am still initially more attracted to guys of average height or taller. There's something viscerally appealing about looking up and feeling rather enveloped by a guy.

My advice for short guys looking to attract women is
1) Be very fit (noticeably trim and cut) and well groomed.
2) Develop your confidence
3) Look for women in places other than clubs and bars. You're more likely to get together with a woman who perceives some personality and shared interests. Clubs and bars are shallow places and tend to attract those with shallower criteria. If you do go to clubs and bars, go with the outlook that you are just going to have a good time with your pals (guys or girls) and don't expect to pick anyone up. That way if you happen to beat the odds it will be a pleasant surprise.

Being a (very) short man myself, I really appreciate point no.3.

Topic Are you Romantic?

... I'm not romantic, I'd like to think of myself as thoughtful.

Hmmm... you mean you can't be a thoughtful person if you are romantic? What do you think about my definition of romanticism (explained in the original post of this thread)?

Topic Are you Romantic?
Posted 27 Sep 2012 20:58

I actually like your definition quite well. .... I like that your phrasing expands it beyond that. The way a pilot, or somebody who wants to become one might be deeply connected to the romance of flight, I'm attached to the romance of the theater, or the written word.

Well said bro.. for me being romantic certainly goes well beyond its most common use!

Topic Girl Denied Highschool Diploma in Oklahoma!
Posted 20 Aug 2012 14:15

I presume that this happened at a religious school.. if so then the poor girl is paying the price for being enrolled in one! If you (or your parents in this case) choose to be part of a community, then you have to follow the rules until you are there... however foolish they might be!

If in fact this was not a religious school - then this is plain disgusting!!

Topic Teacher convicted of sex with 18yr old students
Posted 19 Aug 2012 15:47

If it was a consensual act between adults - then I do not see why she should be sent to prison. It seems like a blind enforcement of an archaic law - I hope there is enough public support in US to change such laws! Feel sorry for the teacher.

Just to clarify on my previous comment: Considering that there were multiple students involved, I agree that there is an ethical issue here and she can not be allowed to continue as a school teacher. But the question is - should she be labelled as a sex offender or sent to prison? I think not. She should possibly get a community service or something and barred from teaching that's all.
If she is sent to prison for 20 years - I think that will be grossly unjust and almost medieval!

It's a combination of both the muscle clench that Shylass was talking about as well as a degree of mental/psychological discipline.

I agree. I can do it once and it is hard and recharged immediately, so we just continue with the next act. But in my case, it is in a 'pause' mode rather than 'restart', so the second time I am done really quickly. I only started practicing this art a while back.. so I would say, that I am still perfecting it.. I would love to be able to 'reset' 2/3 times and last longer each time.

But honestly, one and half hours seems way too long to me Kimasa. If true, you should really get the secret out of him and share with all of us - you'll make a lot of women happier icon_smile

Looking forward to your story!

Topic Are you Romantic?
Posted 17 Aug 2012 15:33

All of us for in love. Does that make everyone a romantic? I do not think so. Then what differentiates? Where do you draw the line?

Here is what I think:

To me, Romantics is a far wider characteristic of human nature. In a broad sense, I would say: Romantic = Devotional. You are romantic if you perceive the reality through the filter of a glorified existence . This existence could be your lover, your country, your faith, your cause or whatever.

But that definition actually classifies a lot of us ( if not most ) as romantic? d'oh! What do you think?
