Topic Is it okay for the guy in your life to call you "bitch"?
Posted 05 Mar 2013 00:37
Speech is in a constant state of flux and meanings do change. Not too long ago ''bad'' meant ''good'' in some street parlance or other so perhaps this is an example of such an extension. Though I must admit these negative words regarding females never seem to have a totally accepted male equivalent such as ''slut''. Personally I would be unable to apply this as I am regarding the other examples.

Topic Advice for first date with really cute girl please?
Posted 04 Mar 2013 03:34
Tell her once she looks great (because she will have gone to some trouble getting ready), talk about her with open questions she will respond with her questions and the conversation will start to flow. Relax she agreed to the date so she's interested - be yourself. Personally i would prefer a dinner date rather than the movies or maybe a mixture of both.

I don't feel I have a low sex drive but if I'm not enthusiastic then it's very difficult to get aroused so mechanically it might prove difficult. I know we do get erections whilst asleep - all males do even little kids but would think that actual penetration would tend to wake one up - any research on this? :)
Topic Never Been In Love....

We are all alone in our heads I think it's called the misery of the human condition. When you meet someone who makes that feeling either through compatibility and attraction become more bearable when they dim that feeling to the point where their welfare physical or mental becomes paramount that to me is love although ultimately it is still self you are serving I think.
Topic Why do you have sex?
Posted 03 Mar 2013 05:31
Even with my deep musical interest it is still sex, drugs and rock'n'roll and not the other way around nothing else comes close. Fun is not a word I would use though - more like wonderful feeling both physically and mentally although I understand why people use fun but to me it is not an adequate enough word its associations aren't enough for me I like it so extremely.

Plenty of hypocrisy within politics a lot of politicians say they are Christians go to church but have wars (which in my opinion is contrary to everything Christ stood for - not that I believe in God) we are to blame though they tried war criminals from world war 2 but those still to be found weapons of mass destruction have not led to any prosecutions of those 2 war criminals Blair and Bush everyone just shrugged so we get what we deserve. As for a global crisis to me we the population of the world work, buy stuff, eat etc yet every now and then some financial problem rears its ugly head and we have to suffer I feel such things are contrived by those doing the sums - they change the way they add things up and all of a sudden we're worse off and then open to accept extreme right wing policies - we allow such things as all the hypocrisy about Iraq pretending it's for the good of the local population when really it's in the interests of our filling stations we wave the flag of loyalty to country to cement our self interest and feel virtuous in our selfishness yes the hypocrisy is never ending and self perpetuating.
Topic Horror genre has been killed

I understand but I suppose for the questions you feel the films raise I would be more entertained - or educated if you like without the extreme grottiness. I prefer morality lessons to be presented in a more amusing way for example as in In The Heat Of The Night. And I still don't understand why people are entertained by very realistic horrible things which I find a little disturbing like Kill Bill which after the 3rd or 4th suicidal Japanese sword wielding gangster realistically bit the dust (they could have easily shot her) became nauseatingly boring. There was a movie based on fact about people in a sunk ship's lifeboat the commander of which ditched the wounded, the weak and the useless in order to save the majority but the scenes weren't presented in a way that was totally nauseating they didn't for example show how they managed toilet facilities but the moral question was still understood.
Topic Horror genre has been killed

I find the term horror movie difficult as there as so many varieties of it. Movies that portray in great detail internal and external body parts don't exactly frighten me more nauseate - as I don't enjoy watching surgical operations on tv the same goes for such movies. I would include those that feature cannabalism or blood drinking from wine glasses etc as in the same mode. I am also baffled and sometimes suspicious as to why people enjoy such sights maybe cathartic or is it some nasty primeval need? For example Cabin Fever in my opinion was only nauseating and not frightening as was Hostel. Some of the more gothic ones are amusing in their over the top terms though like references to Dracula as ''the prince of darkness'' makes me smile (good name for a band). Or I once met an incredibly handsome young man in the Ukraine who was highly amused when I told him that his name was often that of the assistant in Frankenstein movies - Igor (a more unlikely Igor you'd never meet - he looked like a gleaming matinee idol). I feel that as effects have grown more graphic and realistic the genre has become more vomit evoking and less scary accordingly. The old black and white movies for instance with clever lighting and use of shadow could be very atmospheric whereas watching someone's fingers being realistically cut off in a toilet in full glorious colour to me is not frightening just sickening and not really in good taste.
Topic IF YOU COULD....

This question brings up the idea that there is the possibility of a second chance - what I'm trying to say that in most of us there is a sort of unrealistic feeling that we can live another life again. We don't really believe that this is a one way street - hard to describe what I'm saying but the closer I get to death the more this feeling dissipates as the reality looms larger. To answer the question the main thing I would have done is learned to play guitar earlier and not joined the stupid RAF at 15.
Topic Boxers or Briefs?

The reason I heard was that commandos don't wear underwear. Since commandos are seen as soldiers who will cross any terrain, underwear gets uncomfortable. I don't know if it's true or not, but that's where it allegedly originated.
Having work British military working uniforms I can assure you that wearing underwear is a sight more comfortable as the material is very rough and abrasive on your tender parts. :)

Love the movies, but it can't be good for the body.
You're right I did some extra work once and it was so boring most of the time sitting around eating so I'm amazed at the actors who lose weight must take a lot of strength of character. :)
Topic Nursing a broken heart
Posted 16 Feb 2013 11:37
You have my sympathy on this and if you feel like crying go right ahead - stuff all that macho crap. The only cure is time - each time you get the familiar hopeless feeling it will hurt as brightly as before but it will happen less often. Eventually you will reach a point where it raises its horrible head and will still hurt but you can compartmentalize it until its duration is seconds. This will take some time - my 20 year marriage broke up and I had a lot of problems functioning; eventually I realised distraction was the key so take up some new project that requires a lot of thought and application like learning a foreign language. As your positive feelings move to the fore you will attract other people again but resign yourself that there is no instant cure. You also have to realise that it is you that is doing this to yourself - another hard thing to admit.

Of course commando leaves you open to having nasty accidents with zips, (something you usually only have to do once aggggghhh! to be ever cautious afterwards); briefs by the way go a long way to preventing this.
Topic why do you wear a bra?
Posted 16 Feb 2013 03:52
I feel the reasons for wearing a bra are fairly obvious however I do have a problem with the word tits - not that I find it obscene or anything but just slightly vulgar. Can't quite put my finger on (no pun intended) why though- more say than other words as all speech is arbitrary.

Why is it called ' going commando'?
I asked the same question below but none responded
I'm more interested in the origin of the expression. I can hardly see some camouflaged soldier knife in hand and creeping towards some German radar installation during the 1940's being without his ''drawers cellulose soldiers for the use of.''

Quite common for men to be turned on by lesbians and there is a lot of talk about it but the opposite never seems to be the case or is it just me? I have heard Madonna express a desire to watch two men having sex but that's the only example I can recall.

Despite my guitar music inclinations a piece that reminds me of my first serious affair is Rachmaninov's 18th Variation of Pagnini's 24th Caprice. I can even remember that it was J3 on a Juke box in a coffee bar near the Empire theatre in Sunderland which had an usual selection of records. The coffee bar was pulled down to build a horrible traffic system but I think she's still around somewhere in that town. Inevitably whenever I hear that piano piece I remember.
