Not much to say about it. It happened. It's over. Moving on.

To those who were so upset with my 'you have no right' - I was referring to a 'constitutional right' not your personal liberty. Calling me a moron because I refuse to be labeled is kinda crass. In point of fact, a direct descendant of my dad's walked the Trail of Tears and yet...you don't see me rallying around saying 'burn the stars and stripes'. I suppose since the ass at the rally was also holding a flag in tribute the US Marines we should burn those, after all guilt by association. I'm weary of this entire discussion. You can't see past your own white guilt and privilege and it's made you narrow minded and petty. Devolving to name calling in lieru of a cogent argument means you lost your argument. Some one said they were sick and tired of being told how to think...do you read what you write? guilty of the same thing.
1. You have no constitutional 'right' to be offended. Get a thicker skin or move to someplace perfect.2. To many Americans, the flag represents a time when States' Rights issues dominated and people thought of them selves as 'Virginians' or 'Georgians' first rather than as Americans. it's a part of their heritage and history. Accept it. Big fucking deal.3. Yeah, slavery was bad. It's a given. It's been over for longer than anyone alive today. It's history. Learn from it.4. First, before we burn the Stars 'n Bars, let's burn the Union Jack, the hated symbol of British oppression over their own citizen colonials. You have no right to be offended. You have no right to change American history. You have a right to your opinions - at least until they repeal the First Amendment.Jesus, get a grip. One guy among thousands and the media gnash their teeth and miss the real story. You folks will trade your liberties for security and you'll have neither long. But hey, what the hell do I know? *look away, Dixieland*
I will probably piss a lot of people off but when I read the tickler 'wtf is wrong...' I got to thinking in terms of 'error' instead of 'why don't people post here'. I wonder why we tend to have such thin skins, demand 'equality' when in fact we're demanding to be considered a 'protected class' like blacks and Hispanics. Deny it if you will but if you think about the self-anointed public spokespeople for us, do they really speak for you? I watched an episode of 'Ellen' where she moved into a new community and was immediately expected to devote her life to the 'gay cause' to the extent of using only 'gay-friendly' plumbers. My point is that she balked at the labeling and the social apartheid that seemed to be the thrust of the 'community organizers'. I too will balk at any attempts to push my succulent ass into anyone's bubble of proper gayness. If you disagree, please be civil. I'm sick of the hysterics that seem to surround any debate these days. And just because i'm young, don't discount my words or dismiss my opinions. I'm a college senior, a friggin' genius, and more importantly, I can think for myself.
