Black teacher fired for using the term "negro"

In the annals of political correctness run amok in American schools, this story — if true — is easily an all-timer.

A junior-high school Spanish teacher has filed a lawsuit alleging that she was fired from P.S. 211 in the Bronx in March 2012 because of a misunderstanding over the word “negro.”

The non-tenured teacher, 65-year-old Petrona Smith, maintains that she was instructing her class about how to say the various basic colors in Spanish, reports the New York Post. The word “negro” naturally came up because “negro” is the Spanish word for “black.”

A seventh-grade student in the class took offense at the term, however, believing the word to be a racial slur. It’s not clear if Smith directed the term at the student. Whatever the case, he reported the incident to school officials.

But, wait. It gets better. Smith, a native of the West Indies, is black. And to top it all off, P.S. 211 is bilingual.

Smith’s attorney, Shaun Reid, called the charge that allegedly led to his client’s termination ridiculous.

“They haven’t even accounted for how absurd it is for someone who’s black to be using a racial slur to a student,” Reid told the Post.

School officials refused to make any comment about the allegations in the lawsuit. As such, the publicly-known facts are tremendously one-sided at this point.

In court papers, Smith does address another incident involving an allegation that she labeled some students as “failures.” The teacher states that she had only asked certain students to move to the rear of the classroom after they had failed a test.

The Post notes that Smith also claims that students hurled insults at her, calling her “fucking monkey” and other abusive names.

Smith hasn’t been able to find another job since she was sacked.

Topic Can't You Guys talk to your wife.

all i was asking is for you guys that think the grass is greener some where else ....to try to fix what you have ....she was once some one you couldnt live with out ......now she is some one you want to live with out ...try to fix it ....lot better for kids ...und cheaper then divorce..
remember ........you did tell her you loved her ........und just so you 'll know ..sex with one girl isnt that different from sex with another ....go talk to her ...win her back ....you ......kan change your life ......you kan try!!!!!!!

Guys aren't the only ones that cheat, women do too. Maybe what needs to be fixed is something the wife needs to do, or they need to do together, and unless both partners agree that something NEEDS to be fixed, one person will never succeed in fixing anything. Maybe HE was once someone SHE couldn't live without.

She also said she loves him. And to be completely honest, cheating is rarely just about sex. It goes wayyy deeper than that. Sex is the physical behavior acted out to try to gain back some of the other things that have been lost. Affection, passion, desire, respect (strangely enough), commonality... all these things, if missing at home, can be temporarily regained via new sex with a new partner. Albeit short lived and ultimately more destructive.

Maybe she doesn't want to be won back. Maybe she needs to win him back. Maybe he hasn't changed, but she has.. for the worse. Maybe SHE needs to change?

Failed marriages are about way more than men being douchebags. Some of us are but some men aren't. This smacks of double standard that says all failed marriages are the fault of husbands and alleviates all wives of any responsibility.

There are dozens of ways a person can break the heart and spirit of his/her spouse that don't involve fucking someone else.

If the girl accused of this crime is 18, why is her dad having any say so? The DA doesn't have to include him in any plea deal. The DA needs to sit down and talk to the girl alone, explain to her the gamble that her father is taking with her life. The judge needs to talk to her without the dad around. Worse case scenario, I'd tell the idiot dad.. if you don't talk your daughter into taking this EXTREMELY generous offer.. one that would not be given to opposite sex accused... that he'll be held with obstruction of justice or something. Dad is gambling his daughter's future on making a political statement. Dumbass.

18 yr old senior charged with sex crime after having sex with 14 yr old teammate

ORLANDO, Florida (Reuters) - Thousands of people have protested against the prosecution of an 18-year-old Florida high school senior after her parents launched an Internet petition claiming she was charged with sex crimes only because her lover, a then 14-year-old schoolmate, was another girl.

By late Monday afternoon, almost 100,000 people had signed a Change.org petition or joined a Facebook group called "Free Kate" in support of Kaitlyn Hunt.

Indian River County prosecutor Bruce Colton said on Monday that he would not be moved by the public campaign because he said sexual orientation was not an issue. Colton said Kaitlyn was charged like any other adult for having sex with a minor.

"In most instances, it's a male and a female. But certainly I hope people aren't saying the law should be different because it's two females," Colton said.

Kaitlyn was arrested in February on two charges of lewd and lascivious assault on a minor, a second degree felony. Florida law prohibits anyone 18 or older from having sex with someone aged 12 to 16. If convicted, she would face up to 15 years in prison and be required to register as a sex offender.

Colton said he had offered Kaitlyn a plea deal in March in which the charges would be reduced to child abuse, a third degree felony; he would recommend to the judge a sentence of community control and probation; and he would not discourage the judge from wiping her record clean. The offer is good until May 24, after which they will move toward a July 15 trial date, he said.

Kaitlyn's father, Steven Hunt, of Palm Bay, said the deal was not good enough.

"My child is far from a child abuser," Hunt said, noting that the two girls met when Kaitlyn was 17.

Kaitlyn, who Hunt said participated on the cheerleading and basketball teams and sang in the school chorus, was expelled from the high school and is due to graduate in June through an alternative school setting.

The parents of the other teenager could not be reached for comment.

Hunt said he had tried to resolve the issue through mediation but that the alleged victim's family would not participate, leaving him no option but to go public. Hunt said he believed "100 percent" that his daughter's sexual orientation was a factor in their complaint.

In his Change.org petition, Hunt stated that "Kaitlyn's girlfriend's parents are pressing charges because they are against the same-sex relationship, even though their daughter has stated that this is a consensual relationship."

The investigation of Kaitlyn was triggered by a complaint from the 14-year-old girl's parents after they learned of the relationship at a school basketball game, Colton said.
The girl, who has since turned 15, told investigators about having sex with Kaitlyn in a bathroom at Sebastian River High School and at Kaitlyn's home, and cooperated with detectives by calling Kaitlyn on the phone, according to the arrest affidavit. Kaitlyn admitted to the relationship after her arrest, the report said.

Hunt said his daughter never thought about their age difference in part because he said the 14-year-old was physically larger than his daughter and they played on the varsity basketball team together.

==========

The parents of the 14yr old are probably the driving force behind all of this. Do you think they pressed charges because of sexual orientation? And whether or not that's true, once the District Attorney is involved, does it no longer matter what the sexual orientations are?

Of course, there are always plenty of cocktails, and we always order a pizza, so we can all have sex with and share the pizza deliveryman. Sometimes the pizza deliveryman is just LM doing a bit of role play for us, but he really seems to enjoy that tip.

The sleepovers really are a great time, just ask Maz, KG, Ginger, and Nikki! evil4

(P.S. Never in my life has a naked pillow fight spontaneously erupted at a sleepover. )

Yeah, and CG, Maz, KG, Ginger, and Nikki enjoy the whole shaft plus tip.

Lol, CG ALWAYS plans out her naked pillow fights very meticulously. First one to hit another sleepover guest hard enough to knock the cucumber out of her cooch wins a prize.

Just to be clear about my own personal comments. They have absolutely nothing to do with who Angelina Jolie is married to, fucking, has fucked in the past, any past or previous marriages of her's or Brad/Jen Aniston. Until Aniston was mentioned, her name and her marriage to Brad Pitt never even crossed my mind. It's irrelevant to the topic.

I don't hate Angelina Jolie, I'm actually kind of indifferent to her. From what I have seen and read of her, she seems like a genuine and caring person. But again, it has nothing to do with my personal opinion on the matter.

My opinion is suspect on the matter is suspect since I'll never have to face the decision she has, but I still think it was premature to take such drastic measure. My honest opinion, for whatever that's worth. It's possible to question a person's decisions without questioning their character or hating them.

Topic Prostate Cancer chances high - I guess I should get mine removed now?
Posted 16 May 2013 05:59

I think her decision was way premature and a huge over reaction guided by fear. First of all, what if the test is wrong? She has an 87% chance of getting breast cancer according to ONE company that holds the patent to the test, so she has no way to get a second opinion and there's no way to verify if the test is right. And no one can really predict the future, in all honesty. It's a probability test, and there's no guarantee it's correct. Angelina has plenty of money, she could have been tested for any cancer cells 2 or 3 times a year and still come out ahead money wise. And it would be a far less drastic approach.

Her mom died of cancer, but what was her mom's lifestyle? Did she smoke, have a bad diet?

Most women won't be able to afford this option, elective double mastectomy followed up by reconstructive surgery. Now any "normal" woman whose mother and grandmother have died of breast cancer is reading this story and worrying even more about her future. It's like she's indirectly been given a death sentence because she can't have her currently healthy breasts removed. She's going to have to wait until the hammer drops and she's diagnosed, resigned to a fate she can't control because she's not rich. And could likely lead to her taking less proactive steps to improve her chances. "Well if I can't have my tits cut off there's no reason for clean living, it won't be enough to prevent it anyway." Talk about the media giving women a bad image of their own bodies! I agree with Maz, giving the impression that this sort of invasive and premature over reactive surgery empowers women is a farce. It does the opposite, making women afraid of their bodies.

Mutilating your body out of fear of a perceived future illness, in my mind, isn't clear thinking. It's fear driven paranoia. It's her body and she can do what she wants, but i'm not ready to exalt her as the patron saint of breast cancer for her decision. If her body does have a predispositon for cancer, will the cancer cells in her body just give up? Anytime we try to prevent nature from taking it's course, nature finds a way. Now instead of breast cancer, she may get colon cancer, or lymphoma, or throat cancer. All of which are as equally or more deadly than breast cancer.

George Will is already talking about impeachment. "Will noted that one of the items in the 1973 impeachment articles of then-President Richard Nixon, which ultimately led to his resignation, described the Nixon administration’s use of the power of income tax audits in a “discriminatory matter.”

As Michael Tomasky said, “Most Republican members of the House live in districts where it is a given that Obama is a socialist; that’s he bent on bringing the United States of America down…that he’s not a legitimate occupant of the Oval Office to start with.”

The Republican party sees this president as illegitimate. It was the same with Clinton in the nineties. They control the congress and the media. The search for scandal in order to find grounds for impeachment is the same. Between this and Benghazi, they'll come up with something to distract the population from what's really going on. Imagine how well the Republicans will be doing if they can get talk of impeachment started up around the 2014 elections.

Not that they don't already own the country anyway, of course. Obama has never been a progressive. Both he and the Clinton's are right of center. They are moderate Republicans. It's only how far right things have skewed that would make anyone think that Barak Obama is liberal. Even his health plan was a Republican plan. He has rolled over and given the Republicans almost every thing they've asked for.

I really don't know why I should care if he's impeached or not. It's all just theatre anyway.

I give up.

For controlling Congress and the media, the Republicans aren't very good at getting the results they desire. If they really controlled all of Congress and the media, then Pres. Obama wouldn't have been elected to two consecutive terms in office. If they controlled Congress, House and Senate... Obamacare would have been tabled, gun control talks would be tabled, abortion related issues would be entirely different, same sex marriage wouldn't even be a possibility. As for scandal, yeah the Republicans are looking for anything they can against Pres. Obama. But, it ain't like he's making it hard to find scandal.

If Obama is right of center, then I'm the Dalai Lama.

The loyalty that is shown to this President, and the refusal to ask questions and demand answers truly baffles me. There were fanatical Pres W. Bush followers that could never ever see anything wrong with him or his administration, just buried their heads in the sand, put their fingers in their ears, and sang "la la la la la, i cannnn't hear you". Pres. Obama is getting much the same adoring and unquestioning treatment now. I swear, that man could drop kick a newborn infant off the Golden Gate Bridge and then use it as target practice with a machine gun on live television and all his lackeys in the general public and the MSM would lick his sphincter and blame it on W., Boehner, or Fox News.

Quite to the contrary, I think. I imagine we'll hear a great deal more about this than it really merits because it was something done to conservative groups. I fully expect congressional hearings and maybe even impeachment proceedings.

Hypothetically speaking, if the President ordered this to happen (which I doubt) or if he knew about it but did nothing (more likely), what should happen to him? Does he qualify for impeachment or any other punishment?

Indeed, Ms X.

When Osama Bin Laden was killed, lots of conservatives tried to say shit like "well, Bush did all the leg work for this blah blah blah", "Obama didn't catch OBL, the Navy seals did blah blah blah". No, Bin Laden was found and killed on Pres. Obama's watch. He gets the credit for that, as he well should. When the Dept. Of Homeland Security fucked up the whole Hurricane Katrina thing, Pres. Bush was in command.. he gets the fucking blame for all that epic cluster fuck. His name is/was tarnished by that, not just what's-his-name Brownie.

These things all happened on Pres Obama's watch so he's going to have to shoulder some of the burden for it. If we turn a blind eye, again, then what will be done next? What other agency will be corrupted under his watch, while violating the rights of Americans, and he escapes responsibility again? Under his term, the ATF, CIA, DOJ, IRS have all been caught in questionable circumstances. The President can't claim to be unaware and innocent of all these events.

edit ... and now there's possibly more discriminatory governmental breaches.... as of now this is only being reported on a multitude of conservative sites. I saw a link posted on my facebook. Maybe it's not true, maybe partially true.. but in light of recent events the info in the report isn't impossible.

The EPA, under the Freedom of Information Act has granted fee waivers to "green" or "liberal" organizations 75 out of 82 requests, a waiver 92% of the time.

Conservative groups have been denied or rejected fee waivers 21 out of 26 times or 81% of the time.

Green/liberal groups have a 92% success rate, while Conservative groups have a 19% success rate. If true, that gap is too wide to be accidental.

We don't know whether they were only targeting conservative groups.

The political groups were obviously not charities but they were claiming a charitable non-political purpose. Seems suspicious to me.

Were progressive groups being given a pass on this or were the same examiners looking at them as well? That is the question that should be asked.

As far as we know, the Obama DoJ got a warrant for their wiretap on the AP. Bush never got a warrant.

We know that Bush abused the IRS to target progressive groups and to perform warrantless wiretaps on liberals. It would be just as bad if Obama was doing the same thing. But this is why there need to be controls on the use of such powers.

It was the GOP that made any abuses possible by passing the indemnity act to legalize Bush's warrantless wiretap abuses. Now they are in finger point mode.

Maybe we should go back to the old system where people went to jail for committing torture or wiretapping without a warrant? Lets have an investigation of why these alleged abuses were possible.

Lets stick to what we know rather than what we think likely. I think it very likely that when Bush was Governor of Texas he used to jack off while listening to executions. It is exactly the sick sort of thing the little psychopath would do. His fondness for executing people is documented as is his making fun of people he had killed. But I cant prove it so I don't claim that he did.

You just did claim that he did. Pres. Bush did many things wrong, you'll get no arguement from me there. But he isn't in office right now and it has no bearing on what has happened on Pres. Obama's watch. Gun advocates have been saying for months they're afraid of a gun registry because it would give the government a way to spy on them and use it against them. This confirms that suspicion as possible.

It's pretty clear, with just a little bit of common sense, that conservative groups were targeted. I don't have much faith in government to do the right thing, neither a liberal nor a conservative administration. They all are corrupt but it seems that no one is willing to call out our current president on it. Why is he getting a free pass? Honestly, if this same story had come out during the Bush administration, would you be taking it so lightly? The same intellectual questions should be asked regardless of which party is in office.

Jay Carney, is that you?

Topic IRS admits they deliberately harrassed Conservative groups
Posted 14 May 2013 07:12

It should jar all Americans that any group is targeted because of their beliefs, and these groups were targeted. We can hope that that isn't the case, but that would be just a glimmer of hope. This, on top of a possible cover up of the events in Bengazi, and now the secret seizing of AP reporters' phone lines? This administration is corrupt and it's blatantly obvious. At least as corrupt as the previous administration. Where there's smoke, there's fire. It's happening on Pres. Obama's watch so he needs to take responsibility for the corruption.

Like LadyX said, on the surface this all looks really REALLY bad. Any politician should try extremely hard to avoid even a hint of impropriety. Pres Obama is swimming in it right now, a little truth and honesty and transparency is what's needed right now. Lies on top of lies are beginning to unravel. Lie to cover up the previous lie and the one before that, no one would be able to keep them all straight.

Also, with the IRS seemingly targeting Conservative groups, it should be a little bit worrisome that the IRS will be charged with administering Obamacare.

However.....

Men tend to internalize things, it's how we cope. If I'd been having sex for an hour, even if it was highly enjoyable and intimate between my partner and I, I'd still be very annoyed if I didnt' cum. I wouldn't be mad at her, or hold her responible, but I'd be mad at the situation and myself. Yes, women don't always cum. But our bodies are different. If a man has cum his entire life and then suddenly he can't, he's not going to just be able to accept it right away.

It's like being constipated, you know you got something that needs to come out but it won't. Frustration. lol When we're annoyed of frustrated, we get quiet and go into our own heads to try to figure it out.

Is this supposed to be good news? It's a sad day when 11,101 deaths due to gun homicide is something to...I don't even know...celebrate?

Celebrating 11k+ deaths, no. That's not it at all. But at least things are getting better. In the last 20 years the population has grown, but the percentage of deaths has gone down. What's causing the decrease... better education among gun owners or stricter gun laws, I don't know.

Math isn't my strong suit, but if 3.6 deaths per 100,000 people is the rate, that's what? 0.00036% of the population will die by gun homicide. Those are pretty good odds. I'm less scared of being shot than I am of having a heart attack or dying in a car accident.

Gun homicides have gone down 39% in last 20 years.

Some excerpts...

A study released Tuesday by the government's Bureau of Justice Statistics found that gun-related homicides dropped from 18,253 in 1993 to 11,101 in 2011. That's a 39 percent reduction.

Another report by the private Pew Research Center found a similar decline by looking at the rate of gun homicides, which compares the number of killings to the size of the country's growing population. It found that the number of gun homicides per 100,000 people fell from 7 in 1993 to 3.6 in 2010, a drop of 49 percent.

Both reports also found that non-fatal crimes involving guns were down by roughly 70 percent over that period. The Justice report said the number of such crimes diminished from 1.5 million in 1993 to 467,300 in 2011.

Both studies concluded that most of the decline in gun homicide rates occurred in the 1990s. The Justice report found that since 1999, the number of firearm homicides increased from 10,828 to 12,791 in 2006 before declining to 11,101 in 2011.
