Sounds to me you just lack a little confidence. I know that's a biggie but a lot of that social anxiety is just in your head. Its just you driving yourself crazy in social situations. People aren't judging you and you aren't making a fool of yourself. Just tell a joke or join in the conversation with a group of friends or just people at a party or whatever. Even if you don't say anything witty, people aren't going to hold it against you, they'll forget in 10 seconds anyway.
With your new ladyfriend, just keep taking it slow. Make sure to be the rock she needs and be really careful not to play mind games, pout or do any of those things a needy boyfriend might do. Remember a lot of women that just broke up with a boyfriend get really annoyed with those things and she could associate it with the same irritating behavior of her ex. Your her friend right now, so just be that. Eventually the romance will come. Just keep being the fun to be around.

Even if it's not as proven as some of the other medical fields, I still think it helps people even if some think it's just quackery. Kind of like a placebo, if it helps the patient get over what they have (or think they have) who cares if it's bullshit.
I, for the record, do think it's a science and respect it very much.

I agree with what Dancing doll said in her first paragraph. You'll eventually fall back I to the same routine that broke you up before.
I've done my fair share of sneaking around and it is only about the excitement of the sex and feeling like a stud. At the time I was thinking I had a lot of love to spread atoned but now I realize I was in Lust not love . That's what your situation sounds like to me. You're in lust with people so it seems easy to jump around from bed to bed. The only way to truly get out of that cycle (according to my experiences) is to end it with all the dudes your sleeping around with (including cutting off texting and all kinds of contact really) and just be alone until a nice boy comes along and inspires you to love him and be faithful.
But... You're probably really young and fucking around is fun... Eventually though the desire to have a loving relationship might hit.

Topic Do you believe in "God"?
Posted 10 Nov 2010 16:10
Lets assume for a moment there is a God.We may not know the nature of God or which religion comes closest to the truth, but we can be sure of one thing. God does not love you.
Look at all the cruelty and misery in the world, which God does nothing to stop. Right now as you are reading this, there are children in various places around the world being raped and abused. Most of us would risk our lives even give up our lives to save them if we could. God stands by and does nothing. God has abandoned these children and clearly does not love them.
There are some religions claiming " Gods love is a different kind of love," which is supposed to explain and justify what appears to be Gods devine indifference. This is total bullcrap. If I claim that I love my neighbor and then set his house on fire, anyone can see that my "Love" is no love at all.
Another fallacy along these lines is the statement " God does'nt give us more than we can handle in life." This is a rediculous statement. Go to a mental institution, to the ward for those seriously disturbed. You will see people who sit and rock back and forth all day long. Staring off into space or screaming at non existant terrors. God has given them more than they could handle, and now they're totally broken.
So you have no loving God watching over you, making sure you get what you need. You don't get what you need in life, you don't get what you want and don't get what you deserve. You get what you get.
That's a pretty big can of worms you just opened there... Might even merit a whole knew thread.
"If god exists why does he allow us to suffer?" Or something like that.
I have often thought this way too. But I've heard christians argue about where does god draw the line in helping people in need? Does him intervening in our lives take away free will? Isn't life on earth some sort of test to see if we get into heaven? Aren't our miseries in life reveresed and our good deeds rewarded when we go to heaven if we just turned the other cheek while we were suffering on earth?
These are some of the things I hear Christians say to me when I bring up suffering in the worldand gods indifference. It makes sense from the religion's point of view.

In those cases there was severe mental trauma and physical/mental abuse. In line with that, I believe it is the parent/parenting figure that has the most influence on the kids. For the most part, it is not the lack of parental screening, but the parents active role in making a child violent. Violence in the media then becomes the ever present source in how to carry out the violent thoughts kids/young adults start to ponder.
Your last post, eiotis123, reminds me of a quote from the movie "Sream." (not exactly a masterpiece I know.)

Billy: Now Sid, don't you blame the movies, movies don't create psychos, movies make psychos more creative!

You want to put a crunch on the demand for fur coats (in America) or elsewhere...just levy a huge sales tax on such items.
We already do this to cigarettes and booze. But those are staple items to many people too,
who willingly pay to continue on with their vices. Often cutting down on other things, like.....food. heheh
From The Washington Times - Jan 7, 2003 (found on another website - FreeRepublic)
Posted on Thursday, January 09, 2003 6:44:51 PM by NonValueAdded
"Most Americans celebrated as the ball fell in Times Square New Year's Eve.
But for auto dealers this new year is especially sweet. January 1 marked
the expiration of the federal luxury tax on cars, the last vestige of the destructive
luxury tax package in the infamous 1990 budget deal," the Wall Street Journal says.
"Starting in 1991, Washington levied a 10 percent tax on cars valued above $30,000,
boats above $100,000, jewelry and furs above $10,000 and private planes above $250,000.
Democrats like Ted Kennedy and then-Senate Majority Leader George Mitchell
crowed publicly about how the rich would finally be paying their fair share and privately
about convincing President George H.W. Bush to renounce his 'no new taxes' pledge,"
the newspaper said in an editorial.
"But it wasn't long before even those die-hard class warriors noticed they'd badly missed their mark.
The taxes took in $97 million less in their first year than had been projected —
for the simple reason that people were buying a lot fewer of these goods.
Boat building, a key industry in Messrs. Mitchell and Kennedy's home states of Maine and Massachusetts,
was particularly hard hit. Yacht retailers reported a 77 percent drop in sales that year, while
boat builders estimated layoffs at 25,000. With bipartisan support, all but the car tax was
repealed in 1993, and in 1996 Congress voted to phase that out too. January 1 was disappearance day.
"The end of any federal tax is such a rarity that it's well worth celebrating. And the luxury-tax lesson of economic damage is worth keeping in mind as politicians begin to wail that President Bush's new tax proposals aren't punitive enough on the rich."
I agree. Maybe they should put a heavy tax on new cars that are also gas gusslers... Did I really just agree with you WMM? Might be a first for me, most of your post sail way above my head...

Topic Are intelligent people less likely to believe in god.....?
Posted 04 Nov 2010 09:47
That's not true. I'm not talking about pedophile priests, or condoms in Africa. I'm talking about people right here, in my neighborhood; people that I know personally. People that donate their time, their money, their goods, to help homeless and destitute people. Their religion definitely encourages them to do whatever they can to improve the world around them. Maybe that doesn't fit into your "All religions are evil" point of view, but it's a fact. They don't do it for the money; in fact they give away their own money and get nothing in return except for the feeling that comes from doing good. It doesn't earn them any power over anyone, either. It just feeds people that need to be fed.
Don't they do all that good will to get on their God's good graces though? So that when they get to the pearly white gates God will read his little list of good things you did and let you past his velvet ropes and let you into his club. And you can't just credit religion with people's desire to do good. I'm sure that every person that has given to charity isn't a religious person.

I said "Oh, you knew it was there?!" And then we both laughed.
He told me that he loved anal sex. He asked me if I would try it with him. I asked him if it hurts. And he told me to have a few drinks first to help me relax.
A few days later, we tried it and it really hurt, but I liked the idea that he was in my ass. So we tried it again, and that time it hurt in the beginning, but then became quite pleasurable.
Nowadays, I love anal sex, but I have to be really wet and turned on in order to want it.
I just love stories with happy endings. Most of my girlfriends have been the same way. Alcohol+extreme hornyness+the first few awkward attempts out of the way= anal sex fun

Topic Alcohol is the most lethal drug, outranking heroin, crack cocaine, and marijuana
Posted 03 Nov 2010 17:17
The article itself disagrees with the headline.
Heroin, crack cocaine and methamphetamine, or crystal meth, were the most lethal to individuals. When considering their wider social effects, alcohol, heroin and crack cocaine were the deadliest. But overall, alcohol outranked all other substances, followed by heroin and crack cocaine. Marijuana, ecstasy and LSD scored far lower.
I recently heard a british comic jokingly condone drinking and driving. I forget the exact stats, but he said that last year alcohol killed 20,000 people, driving killed 10,000 people while drinking and driving at the same time only killed 5,000 people, so he felt far safer drinking and driving. This article, or at least the sensationalized headline, reminds me of that because far more people use alcohol than any drug, so the effects on society as a whole are greater than that of any drug.
Thats hilarious!

about 5 years ago I purchased a condo. The real estate agent representing the buyers was pretty new to the business and needed some graphic design work. I gave her my business card and we began a working relationship. At the time she had a daughter who was a freshmen in high school so I'm guessing she must have been in her late thirties but its hard for me to tell with asian women. We both worked from home so sometimes when I came over she was still in her pajamas. Increasingly as we started to get a feel for what we needed from each other professionally our meeting were about 10% business and 90% just bullshitting about life in general. I went to art school and she had her own little studio in her house so we found some common ground. She started showing me some of her art including some nude self portraits. Me being 23 at the time and somewhat stupid could only come up with asking her if she painted in the nude too. She laughed and then produced the actual pictures she worked off of. I started complimenting them and she was flattered. A week later she called me and asked if I could help her take some more. I got into full on mangrooming mode and was at her place in an hour with my cannon and tripod in hand. Naked picture taking ensued and you can probably figure out the rest.
Come to think of it, I should probably write about that instead of the dumb hoes I usually choose as protagonists...

The problem with these kinds of stats is always the timing.
Right now, with the Barclays Premier League & UEFA Champions League on the telly, you will be hard pressed to drag my sorry ass away from a live game.
Me too. I'm glued to the tv when my favorite teams play but when some of the lesser ones are playing I surf the web at the same time or play some low limit poker. Wonder how they factor in some of us that need multiple stimulation... Most of the time I got both going (iPad owners will understand this) so I guess I'd same same for me. Also I watch netflix on the computer but it's really tv. Also my tv is connected to the Internet. Seems like the line gets blurrier everyday.

Before the Internet, television, movies and video games little boys played with toy guns and wooden swords. Those little boys weren't pretending to have lemonade parties with those fake toy weapons. They were playing at killing each other. I really don't think we are any more violent today than we were back then. You can take it back even farther than the middle ages and argue the case that society was twice as violent as it is now and they didn't have any media in the form we have it today.

Its not easy to become addicted to alcohol, that's the difference. Most people can take it or leave it so it is suitable as a relief valve. Just imagine what would happen if we all started to use crack like that.
I think it's easy to get addicted to alcohol. What's not easy is admitting you are dependent on alcohol. It's legal and it's easy to get and consume, who can't take a drink right? I agree that crack is some horrible shit but a damn alcoholic is just unbearable to live with. More than coke heads, tweekers and definitely worst than stoners. Leather cowboy style work boots with no laces or anything are a must for my line of work. If I don't wear leather boots I'll go through a pair of regular work boots a month. Plus the soles can be replaced by a cobbler fairly cheaply. I've had my current two pairs I alternate for three years now.
I have some dress boots made out of deer leather and another pair made of ostrich leather... Those aren't too popular with animal rights crusaders but shit they do last forever and they just look better and better the more I wear them. Those shitty 5 dollar semi disposable flip flops from old navy have probably filled a landfill or two. I don't know anyone throwing away a pair of crocodile skin shoes...
EDIT: after I posted this I scrolled up and realized I already posted something along these same lines. Sorry bout that...

Literally thousands of Florida homeowners got screwed not long ago because their homes were damaged in hurricanes, and they hadn't insisted that their insurance carriers charge them extra for the "wind damage" rider. The insurance companies claimed that the damage to their homes was caused by wind, not by a hurricane (as most homeowners assumed).
That is just sickening. So the wind wasn't caused by the hurricane? Or was it the wind that caused the hurricane? I hate lawyer ball...
Topic Roseville galleria mall fire and the insurance companies.
Posted 28 Oct 2010 10:38
In my neck of the woods not too long ago a young man with a backpack entered the Galleria mall told the employees of the gamestop to get out and proceeded to start a fire. He left his backpack (bomb threat like)in the store so it took a while for the firefighters to put out the fire while they determined if it was safe to proceed. In the end I think something like 11 or 14 stores were destroyed with smoke and water damage to many others.
I was talking to a friend who works for Westfield corporate and she was telling me that if the police deem the fire a terrorist act instead of arson they won't get a penny from their insurance. I think that it's bullshit that the insurance company is going to use terrorism as a way to screw a company that was paying hefty insurance so that if something happened they are not screwed. Isn't that what insurance is for? So now it's up to the Roseville police to decide what sounds better for their headlines. "local man charged with arson" or "homegrown terrorist attacks America on our own soil!"
I'm also curious to find out if the terrorism clause was in the policy when the insurance was purchased by the mall. Even if it was it's pretty weasely behavior.
So what do you think?
