Yes, the muffin top look has got to go.

I also don't like Ed Hardy anything. The people who wear it are almost always douchey.

Topic Do you believe in "God"?
Posted 04 Sep 2010 08:33

Hahahahahahahah, Are people really still using this argument? So you believe in Unicorns, leprechauns, goblins, fairies, bigfoot, ogres, ghosts, chupacabra, loch ness monster and the invisible man living in my closet? You can't prove they don't exsist!

Juvenile. Simply juvenile.

Good thing you didn't have the misfortune of being born in Pakistan, Mongolia, or Saudi Arabia. You would obviously be going to hell then.

The word "argument" presupposes that I'm trying to convince you of something. I'm not. Nic asked us to post our beliefs, not try and convince you that we're right. Your lack of belief doesn't bother me as much as my faith seems to bother you.

Your faith does not bother me. In fact, it gives me a lot of entertainment. :)

Religion does bother me though. I think it is a detriment to the progression of human civilization and scientific progress. Its like a disease that infects children before they have the chance to learn to think for themselves. I'm going to take a wild guess and suggest that most of the people on here that have religious beliefs, possess the beliefs of their parents. Just imagine if you had learned to think for yourselves before such assinine ideas were presented to you? But alas...the infection takes root and no amount of knowledge or rational reasoning can cure it.

And I know we have this misconception that religious beliefs should be respected... But why exactly? If some guy on the street walks up to you screaming about how the world is about to be ended by an alien invasion from Mars, would you say "well, he has his beliefs, and I'm going to respect them." ?? No. You would say "That is one crazy motherfucker."

When one person believes in something that doesn't exist, we call him crazy. When a million people believe in something that doesn't exist...we call it religion.

That last one wasn't my quote, but I wish it was. Have a good weekend everyone.

I found you calling religious people juvenile to be extremely funny since it seems that every time the topic of religion is even remotely mentioned in the forums you throw this tantrum about how the approximately 5 billion people in the world who believe in some form of spirituality, are stupid, or crazy, or whatever your chosen word is that day. Give it a rest already. There is no difference between religious beliefs or political beliefs, or favourite colour. You are never going to get everyone to see it the same way. Before you started attacking people this was a thread about why people believed the way they did. So grow up, and lets go back to that, and leave the missionary efforts for another thread.

Ohhhhh shiiite. Our little boy Jebs finally grew a pair. Kudos. :)

You really should have picked a better cause to hang your hat on though. Oh wait...is this violent response due to some pent up anger over my dismissing your health recovery as anything less than divine intervention? Ok sorry guy. I'm sure that if there is an omnipotent being that controls the entire universe, the first thing on his "to do list" is Jebru's fuckin Kidney problems. I'm glad you recovered though. Now, if only they had a cure for rational thought neglect....

And if you see belief in something that is the product of the human imagination as equal to favorite color or political belief, then you have, missed the point completely. And I am not trying to make people see things my way. I'm just having fun pointing out the stupidity of it all. I realize that people like you may be weak minded and need a crutch like religion to lean on. That's cool. But I'm still going to make fun of you, and do everything in my power to prevent such astounding ignorance from being transmitted to others in order to prevent this farce from being replicated in future generations.

And please, please, please continue this. I would love it! I like the new Jebru. I guess you prayed to God to finally give you some balls.

Welcome to the tank, buddy. icon_smile

you know damon, debate is one of the best way to bring about the evolution process in a society. how do we learn if we dont discuss? debate is more than just argument. it can be the exchanging of ideas bringing forth thought and contemplation as you listen to the opposite views of the subject at hand. but when you start throwing out insults at people it breaks the process down and everyone gets pissy and defensive. no one is going to want to talk about this if they think they're gonna get made fun of.

if you truly want to help move our society forward to the day that we dont need the idea of god and the structure of religion then it would serve you well to temper your responses. think of it as passing on an idea to someone who might then start to question the personal faith system, examine it. then maybe they will grow and evolve.

but no one's gonna listen if you're just being a dick about it. you just discredit yourself and your entire argument.

Yeah but at least Damon keeps some of these threads pretty entertaining...

Palm Islands in Dubai

http://tetrabulgaria.com/images/listing_photos/693_palm_island_resort.jpg

From Wiki...
The Palm Jumeirah ( Coordinates: 25°06′28″N 55°08′15″E ) consists of a tree trunk, a crown with 17 fronds, and a surrounding crescent island that forms an 11 kilometer-long breakwater. The island itself is 5 kilometers by 5 kilometers. It will add 78 kilometers to the Dubai coastline. The first phase of development on the Palm Jumeirah will create 4,000 residences with a combination of villas and apartments over the next 3 to 4 years.

Residents began moving into their Palm Jumeirah properties at the end of 2006, five years after land reclamation began, according to project developer Nakheel Properties. This signaled the end of phase one of construction, which includes approximately 1,400 villas on 11 of the fronds of the island and roughly 2,500 shoreline apartments in 20 buildings on the east side of the trunk.

Nakheel Properties will mark the arrival of the first residents by bringing one of the world's largest airships to Dubai. It has agreed to a deal with Airship Management Services Inc. for a 197 feet (60 m) long, 250,000-cubic-foot (7,100 m3) Skyship 600 dirigible.

According to Nakheel Properties officials, the process of adding 78 kilometers of beach is under way, while eight of the 32 hotels on The Palm Jumeirah have begun construction, including the Taj Exotica Resort and Spa, which was planned for completion in late 2008 or early 2009, is delayed and now expected to open in early 2010. The first phase Atlantis, The Palm Resort, is scheduled to be completed by December 2008. Atlantis, The Palm opened on 24 September, 2008.

The "Golden Mile", the strip of land located along the center of the trunk overlooking the canal, is set for completion in the first quarter of 2008. The tenants started moving in 30 April 2009. Construction has also begun on the Palm Jumeirah Monorail, which will take three years to complete and will serve as a transit system between the Gateway Station at the trunk of The Palm Jumeirah and the Atlantis Station on the crescent. (Emirates News Agency, WAM).The Monorail opened May 6 2009 only using Atlantis Hotel and Gateway Towers Stations.

Topic I thought "Avatar" was silly and teenage, am I the only one?
Posted 30 Aug 2010 10:01

I saw the same animated show years ago. It was called Fern Gully. Then they did a remake and called it Pocahontas.
Avatar is a rehash of the white guilt fantasy. I'm sure we could list a number of similar movies.

The Last Samurai, Dances with Wolves, Farewell to the king... I thought Grand Torino and Rambo 4 were movies that followed the white guilt formula too.

I thought Avatar was alright. It's a good family friendly movie but that's about it. The weaknesses in the story become more aparent on the second viewing when the novelty of the special effects and 3D wear off a bit.

Topic Smoking in movies
Posted 26 Aug 2010 12:20

Wait I'm adding on to this - Sherlock Holmes without a pipe, Bogart in Casablanca and how many times James bond would be dead if he didn't smoke. Will they then make those R-rated after the fact?

I agree. The first time Connery says Bond, James Bond in dr. No with a cigarette hanging from his lip while playing cards is the most iconic scene from the whole series. I bugged me that they made him all anti smoking in some of the newer ones.

Topic Smoking in movies
Posted 26 Aug 2010 10:58

Should movies that contain characters that smoke get an automatic R rating?

Should drinking and other vices get R ratings too?

Will making smoking even more taboo increase it's appeal to teenagers?

I've been hearing plans to do this for about a year now. I think it's just a debate here in the United States but everyone's opinion is welcomed.

Necessary evil I think. Most things are tested on animals aren't they? I know drugs, shampoos, cosmetics and things like that are anyway. Can't really use humans as test subjects can we? I think that would be a worse crime.

If they're smart, they WILL choose the environment they go topless in carefully. Or they may just stop off at a store for a gallon of milk on the way home. All I'm saying is that it should be their choice, not a government mandate.

But most people aren't smart... That's why we have laws, rules and government mandates in the first place.

I saw the expendables and I thought it just alright. It had some good things like stalone and lundgren but I thought the movie was a little boring. Jet li's character was lame and the story didn't really tell you much about the expendables themselves. The villians were also generic and I just wanted their scenes to end whenever they were on screen. I don't know how much of this movie was supposed to be funny or campy but whatever it was supposed to be I didn't laugh too much at things that were played for laughs. It's not a bad movie but I wouldn't want to watch it again. I thought Rambo was a 10 times better movie and a better throwback to those 80's action movies. I'd give it a 5 out of 10.

Have to agree with Dancing Doll here. The last thing I want to see is some guy's hairy ass as I'm trying to eat my Big Mac. And defintitely not when I'm eating somewhere that I paid extra for the ambiance.

Also when's the last time you walked into Mcdonalds and you said "damn, these people here are so beautiful, I wish they were all naked..."

Topic How do you feel about the Top-Free Equal Rights movement?

You're not addressing the issue I had with felix's argument. He said women should not be allowed to go topless because men would get too "grabby" and I say if he's right, you may as well dress women up in burkhas and be done with it.

I never said they shouldn't go topless I just posted a con to the topic that was brought up. Of course I think beaches would be more fun if women were topless because I see breasts as being sexual.

I think I was a little vague in my first post. I think that a woman that is walking around downtown topless might have a higher chance of being followed, verbaly harrassed (by men or women), groped or any other shit women have to deal with than a woman who is fully clothed. I think because a small percentage of men are total assholes this idea of women walking around topless probably wouldn't work. I liken it to the same reason we all have locks on our doors. Most of us wouldn't break into a house and we should be able to have the freedom of living in a world where we shouldn't have to lock our doors and blah blah blah but the truth is that some people want to steal your shit so you lock your door just in case. Leaving it unlocked doesn't turn good people into theives, it just makes it easier for the theives to get into your house.
