Topic Sterilisation for Drug Addicts
31 Oct 2010 03:50
Drug addiction is an illness, by all means make rehabilitation compulsory (or offer them money if that makes you feel better) but sterilising drug addicts seems utterly wrong to me. If some poor kid has been forced to take drugs so her pimp can control her with them should she be sterilised now that she's not pretty enough to earn drug money and gets desperate enough to take the $200? What about all the people that take drugs for a time but later go on to lead fruitful and productive lives, raising families and paying plenty of tax dollars. True some kids suffer as a result of being born into drug induced poverty but let's not make the mistake of thinking the addicts are the villains here, they are not.
The real villains are the drug pushers, growers, importers and refiners. The fat cats who sit in their ivory towers living it large on the misery of other people. I include all the tobacco barons in this too, these bastards know what their products have done and continue to do, yet they continue (and are allowed to continue) doing it. The money they make from slowly killing people worldwide is used to buy them a fantastic lifestyle most of their victims can only dream about. If someone sat in their penthouse flat firing round after round into the streets below, painfully and randomly killing the inhabitants, would we pay them money to do it?
I say make things utterly impossible for the drug dealers. By all means sterilise them, their families, everyone who works for them and anyone else who condones or attempts to protect them. Stop whinging about human rights as applied to these filthy amoral gits and break down their doors to get the job done. I bet the various agencies worldwide know exactly who most of them are and just can't touch them because the law continues to protect villains whilst getting stronger and more brutal against victims. How anyone can advocate punishing drug addicts when the dealers are still at large baffles me. No offence peeps, I know there are plenty who feel differently to me and I respect your right to your opinion but laying into victims and protecting their abusers is just wrong on so many levels it's not even funny.
Topic The Institution of Marriage
31 Oct 2010 03:20
As far as i can tell the institution of marriage pre-dates recorded history and so it's not originally a religious thing. Personally I think the origins lie in being able to prove legitimacy (good for the man) and in providing security for children (good for the woman/children). I believe those values (whether religiously based or not) are still as valid now as they ever were, but....
Back in the day, people were pretty much knackered/dead by the time they were in their forties and marriage for life was not the same as it is now. A couple marrying in their early twenties are able to have children, raise them and still have another 20 or 30 years afterwards. I think perhaps the institution needs a bit of a revamp. Having said that, I waver between being completely content with my marriage (24 years) and wishing I could have a taste of what other people seem to be getting all around me. I am definitely quite jealous of young people who seem to have been born into a world where 'shopping around' a bit first is the norm rather than the exception.

Topic How does if feel if you dont cum for a long time?
13 Oct 2010 13:38
If I go for long enough without sex I lose the desire to come entirely. Only thing is, if I then get turned on in a major way without ejaculating, my balls ache like hell afterwards. (someone once called it blue balls, not sure if that's a common expression)

I agree with everyone else here, the world is full of wondrous variety, why mess with it? Plastic surgery though is very often not about how other people see you but how you see yourself. If your friend felt more confident or beautiful as a result of having this surgery then all power to her elbow.
13 Oct 2010 13:27
Suicide is an entirely different issue, depression is often treatable and people who would definitely kill themselves if allowed to do so often go on to lead full and happy lives after treatment. If at 15 years old I had not been rushed to hospital and pumped out after taking more than 70 paracetamol tablets, my son and daughter, and beautiful grandson would not be around to enjoy their lives. Suicide is a symptom of depression, not a cure.
Topic Guns in Bars and Nightclubs
13 Oct 2010 13:03
This whole thread makes me laugh, in England the majority of normal people have never even seen a gun, far less thought about owning one. Carrying anything more dangerous than a stick of gum into a bar is likely to get you arrested here. I can't imagine what it's like to live in a country where anyone you meet might be packing heat, how the hell can people stand to leave the house?
Topic Capital Punishment
13 Oct 2010 12:59
I would go a bit further and have capital punishment for career criminals too. The kind of people who re-offend again and again, causing misery and heartache every time they are released, then costing taxpayers large amounts of money to convict/jail them. If someone is never going to make a valid contribution to society, what's the point of keeping them in jail?

It's not horrible to want sex with your partner, it's entirely normal. I agree with Woman here, it sounds like there could be some other factor at work. Poor self esteem can mess so thoroughly with your mind that enjoying sex becomes an impossibility. Try and talk to him about how you feel by all means, but be ready for the root cause to be nothing to do with sex, or even you. Quite often it can be something entirely unrelated to you that is causing the problems. I hope you sort it out, it sounds like you really care about him and you deserve to have your wicked way with him whenever you want it!

I think it's unlikely that Phelps and his cronies actually believe in God or any of the phony baloney they spout, but if they do and they are right, then there is a special level of hell reserved for them. Right now they are riding high on a wave of publicity and feeling pretty damn good about themselves, but when they are burning in Hell for all eternity they will not feel so clever.
10 Oct 2010 15:36
I hope it never happens, but if I ever get a very painful and terminal illness, I will definitely be looking for ways to terminate the illness ahead of time. It's kind of wierd that we acknowledge the wisdom of putting animals to sleep when they are suffering. Yet despite the fact that humans can actually make an informed decision about their situation, we refuse to even allow them the dignity of a peaceful death. Instead physicians are supposed to keep treating us and dragging the pain out for as long as possible. I hope I never have cause to regret the fact that euthansia is illegal in Britain, but I certainly already hate it.

Topic Driving and Texting
09 Oct 2010 10:27
I drive a school bus for a living and there are many times when I have seen a person's driving change from perfectly normal, to suddenly
erratic and unpredicatable. I know as soon as I see it that they have started a phone conversation. Driving one-handed is best left to those
with a specially modified vehicle and the training to do it. Texting is even worse IMO, you simply cannot watch the road and a tiny phone
screen at the same time with 100% safety.

Topic Finding schoolmates on Facebook, Pros and Cons?
09 Oct 2010 10:21
I did a similar thing with Friends Reunited a while back. I even went to meet up with a former schoolmate, it was nice to see him but he had clearly changed completely and we never repeated it. I was recently contacted by one of my old high school teachers too, it was wierd since I was a right little horror back then and made his life hell at times. I think he was just trying to make contacts for his wife's business though (selling timeshare in Spain). Personally I think if you lost contact with these people, then FB won't help you get it back again. The lesson you youngsters can learn from me is, don't lose contact, especially not with people you care about. You will regret it later, and you will never recapture the lost time even if you do find them again.

I've always been more attracted to small/petite girls than to larger ones, sadly it's never been reciprocated and all my lovers have been on the larger side of average. I love the thought of being able to pick her up and throw her about a bit, so to speak.

Beholden is spot on, anything can become addictive. As a psychiatric nurse I once dealt with a guy who was addicted to stabbing himself with needles. It wasn't strictly a self-harming addiction either, he actually enjoyed it and ended up in hospital because he was causing considerable damage to himself in pursuing the addiction.
The definition of addiction is interesting (quoting here)
Addiction is a persistent, compulsive dependence on a behavior or substance. The term has been partially replaced by the word dependence for substance abuse. Addiction has been extended, however, to include mood-altering behaviors or activities. Some researchers speak of two types of addictions: substance addictions (for example, alcoholism, drug abuse, and smoking); and process addictions (for example, gambling, spending, shopping, eating, and sexual activity). There is a growing recognition that many addicts, such as polydrug abusers, are addicted to more than one substance or process.
But more simply, if you find yourself unable to stop doing something without considerable effort then it may be an addiction. If that behaviour is also adversely affecting you or your life, then it should be considered a harmful addiction. I heard a story recently on the radio that suggested online activities such as MMOs and social networking can be more addictive than heroin. I would certainly define Lush stories as a social network, albeit in a very specific sphere.
Topic The Dark Side of Social Media

Invasion of privacy is bad enough but there has been a rash of these kinds of videos lately, people being beaten up on video, now raped. Terrorists use the same channels to broadcast their torture and killing of hostages. I wonder if the very fact that they are being videoed is what drives some of these sickos to do it in the first place? I can just imagine some people getting off on the idea that they are being seen doing this. Surely it's only a matter of time before some school kid or other is killed and the video distributed in the same way?
Topic What does a voter do? Do they vote at all?
08 Oct 2010 17:47
In Britain, as in much of the world we use a first past the post system. It orginates from a time when only two political parties existed and back then it was a perfectly acceptable system. Nowadays there as multiple political parties and the system is completely inadequate. It is technically possible (though very unlikely) that a party could recieve the most votes overall, yet not get a single seat in parliament. Certainly the number of votes received by a given party nationally is almost never reflected in the number of seats obtained in parliament. The argument for this two-horse system is that any proportional representation system would result in hung parliaments. Personally I am in favor of hung parliaments, they are the only way to prevent really absurd laws from being forced through by a party so strong it doesn't need to listen to anyone else.
So, should we vote? Only if your vote will actually count for something, ie you are voting for a party with some chance of winning. If you are going to vote green party, BNP, Agnostics for Lesbianism, or any other fringe party, save your time and shoe leather. Your vote doesn't mean a thing!

06 Oct 2010 04:21
When I was training as a psychiatric nurse one of the girls in the nurses home was complaining on Valentine's day that nobody fancied her or wanted her because she hadn't received a card. I went out and bought a card, anonymously wrote a lurid description of what I wanted to do to her inside it, then put it inside an envelope, complete with stamp and forged postmark, then dropped in her pigeon-hole.
Well of course, far from being pleased, she went absolutely nuts and got all paranoid that some freak was having all these sick fantasies about her. She got so upset about it that in the end I had to admit that it was me that had done it in an attempt to cheer her up. She wasn't amused but one of her friends thought this was very hot and started visiting my room for some mutual relief sessions after that, so it all worked out fine in the end.
